As inusing the correct floss or teepee for each tooth gap size? And if so how regularly? Daily? Twice daily?

I floss every night with Superdrug’s expanding floss. I also use a Waterpik type device about once a week.

Ilikeanimalsmorethanpeople · 20/08/2019 21:42

Yep every evening before brushing...went to the dentist first time in 17 years a few months ago as I had a dream my teeth all fell out Blush teeth great but the hygienist went to town so since then have flossed every night!

ThisIsNotAIBUPeople · 20/08/2019 21:43

Me. I spent £3000 getting my teeth straightened so I'm looking after them now!

Redyoyo · 20/08/2019 21:44

I use interdental brushes every night whilst sitting in front of tv, the smallest sized ones, i floss during the day if needed. I have to, my gums are rubbish, i have no fillings and healthy teeth but i keep getting infections in my gums. Dentist is at a loss why!

TheCanyon · 20/08/2019 21:44

I just can't get to grips with floss, just cant make my hands do what I need to do so i use interdental brushes daily. I bloody love them

bengalcat · 20/08/2019 21:46

I use interdental brushes - usually once a day before bed

MrsOnions · 20/08/2019 21:47

I can’t do it, it sets my teeth on edge.

DariaMorgendorffer · 20/08/2019 21:48

I floss every day.

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 20/08/2019 21:48

I floss after every meal and use my water pick after my night clean. I have a large gap between two teeth because of bad previous treatment so I have to floss or food stays in there.

ShirleyPhallus · 20/08/2019 21:49

I floss twice a day

If I don’t, I notice the top back corner smells weird. No idea why just those teeth

catsmother · 20/08/2019 21:52

I do .... used to do it after brushing, but my dentist advised before? Either way, since I made a determined effort to do so every day my mouth does feel fresher and my gums rarely if ever bleed. I floss, can't get on with interdental brushes at all, they bend or get stuck.

Flurgle · 20/08/2019 21:55

Tepe every night. Slacked off for a while and she said my gums were looking spongy. Hygienist every six months.
I have a night guard and I think it makes it even more important.
It’s annoying though.

megletthesecond · 20/08/2019 21:56

I do. Every evening.
The hygienist said they really didn't need to see me every year as they don't have anything to do in my mouth. And that's paying privately 🤷‍♀️.

Tonnerre · 20/08/2019 22:02

I've tried, honestly, but I just can't see how you do it. Either I can't get the stuff between my teeth or I gag. It doesn't help that I have a small mouth. For what it's worth, my dentist very rarely has to do any work.

JammyGem · 20/08/2019 22:03

I started flossing every night (well, at least 5 nights a week) after a particularly painful deep clean at the dentists a couple months ago. I flossed intermittently before then, but make more of an effort to now.

I do find it makes my gums quite painful though , although it is a "good" pain. No idea if that's normal or if I'm doing it wrong!

MitziK · 20/08/2019 22:04

I do. Floss for tighter gaps, interdental brushes for larger ones.

After ending up losing my first ever tooth due to an abscess in the gum (and borderline for sepsis) last year, thanks to not doing it whilst on methotrexate, I'm now on humira.

I don't intend to ever feel that ill or in that much pain ever again, if I have anything to do with it.

Blutopia · 20/08/2019 22:05

Mostly daily using floss picks, although there are days when I grin at myself in the mirror and think meh, looks alright and cba.

I did try a tepe brush, for a weird gap I've got that I can't get floss into (filling too tight against next tooth) - but when my first attempt became repeatedly stabbing myself in the gum with a tiny shred of metal, I came over quite sick and faint and decided, fuck that. Chucked the evil little things in the bin.

I have some gum recession so I need to stay on top of it really.

EL8888 · 20/08/2019 22:06

I floss daily because of having shit teeth. It seems to work as l have had less work done since l started flossing. I use the fat floss thanks to my gappyish teeth

RosaWaiting · 20/08/2019 22:06

I floss every evening
Dental, not dancing!

I don’t know how I’d use interdental brushes. Teeth are fine.

Sometimes I think it’s sheer luck though.

Biancadelrioisback · 20/08/2019 22:07

Aren't the interdental brushes just such a waste? They're one use throwaway aren't they?
I do use floss, maybe three times a week? On average... I have yet to find anything between my teeth so it feels so pointless. I'm in my 30s, have no fillings, no dental issues at all

Fairylea · 20/08/2019 22:07

I brush my teeth really well twice a day and use mouthwash but I don’t floss very often because it always irritates my gums and they feel sore afterwards!

SuperSara · 20/08/2019 22:07

I use a TePe once every day.

Jayaywhynot · 20/08/2019 22:08

Tepe brushes twice a day, different sizes. It great to have nice teeth but gum care is most important. I have gum disease so I'm very strict. Even if I come home late and tired drunk I still do do it Smile

Shortstuff99 · 20/08/2019 22:10

I do it in front of the bathroom mirror and it can ping the little bits of trapped food onto the glass then once a fortnight one of us cleans the mirror. It’s my guilty pleasure.

Passthecherrycoke · 20/08/2019 22:12

I floss most evenings using the wands with floss across them. Nothing ever comes out that is visible to the eye at least, but plaque doesn’t build up
