To wear knickers to bed?

I always feel exposed if I don’t, but dh says that I’m insulating myself from the world and also that it’s more hygienic. Thoughts? I assumed most people wear knickers to bed...

@bluebluezoo. Funnily enough I understood exactly what pps meant by breathing. I wasn't under the impression that it mean the whole area was inhaling and exhaling.

As long as I've worn pyjamas I've worn knickers under them and I have never in my life had thrush or any other kind of vaginal infection.

As Grimbles above has pointed out, we would have to sleep with our legs akimbo in order to stop the area being dark and damp.

dementedma · 17/08/2019 19:32

Surprised at all the knicker wearers. Just too uncomfortable under pj’s. Everything gets rucked up.

Purpleartichoke · 17/08/2019 19:41

I wear loose cotton pj bottoms with no knickers. That way there is something between me and the sheets, but my sensitive skin gets air.

strawberrypenguin · 17/08/2019 19:42

I never used to until I had kids. Then I found I didn't like being awake in the night so much without pants on. Now I always wear pants to bed despite the fact the kids usually sleep through now. Doesn't feel right anymore not too

HiJenny35 · 17/08/2019 19:46

"It's needs airing" God how grim! Knickers on thanks

treeplop · 17/08/2019 19:48

I wear knickers only, I love PJs but even the thinnest make me sweat my tits off.

I wear knickers and PJ bottoms during my period though.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 17/08/2019 19:53

I wear vest and knickers in bed - I am always hot during the night but get cold as morning approaches. Cannot bear a nightie with material flapping everywhere, same for pyjamas. If it is really cold I wear my jogging pants in bed (and wash them the next day!).

Rainatnight · 17/08/2019 19:57

Completely up to you, but I’m firmly in the airing my undercarriage camp. No nightie or pyjamas either but that’s a separate issue to do with finding them uncomfortable.

Squirrelblanket · 17/08/2019 19:59

At home I wear nothing in bed unless it's cold and then I wear a vest. If I'm staying at someone else's house I'll wear knickers with the vest just in case I go to the toilet in the night and bump into anyone.

But generally no knickers at night. I think it's a bit dirty.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 17/08/2019 20:01

Sleep naked when in my own home. PJs (no knickers) if at someone else’s home or when in a “family” hotel room. I don’t like the feeling of “constraint” wearing anything in bed to be honest.

Sarahlou63 · 17/08/2019 20:02

Never wear pants. Ever. (Unless I'm going to the doctor!).

motherheroic · 17/08/2019 20:05

I shower in the evening, so I don't see the point in putting on a pair of knickers that I'm going to change a few hours later.

To those that wear knickers, do you wear fresh ones or the same ones you've been wearing all day?

Smilebehappy123 · 17/08/2019 20:10

I have to now since I shitted on my husband whilst pregnant all up his back
Once the deed is done at bedtime , knickers on he says won’t take the chance again

Cryalot2 · 17/08/2019 20:11

I used to be different, but since having kids and my internal elastic has gone, and I am pretty much freezing most of the time, I wear my knickers and pjs or pj shorts .
It also stops dh from getting any funny ideas.
I love the spider one lol

Skinnychip · 17/08/2019 20:27

I'm glad its not just me 🙈🙈
I tell DH i wear them for "security purposes"
😂
I also like to have covers...even when its ridiculously hot!

Iggly · 17/08/2019 20:33

Fresh!!!

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 17/08/2019 20:36

Knickers under jammies every day. Don't feel comfy in nighties so have to be shorts or pants. Again for me it's that idea or discharge, I'd have to wash and put clean pjs on every single day, haven't got time or money for that... Not to mention hubby would think his luck would be in when he realised I was commando

StinkyWizleteets · 17/08/2019 20:45

Always wear pants

  1. If you’ve ever discovered a dead spider between your legs (prepube days) you’ll understand the fear of what if it laid eggs up my chuff?
  2. If like me you were a rather drippy and moist teen, you needed something to catch the mess or suffer discharge dreadlocks in the morning.
  3. How the fuck do you get fresh cool air around your Fanny under hot bedclothes? (Short of farting but I’m sure that’s not the kind of airing people mean)

Knickers all the way. I’ll even put a fresh pair on before bed!

hooraysuperworm · 17/08/2019 20:46

Since I had a baby and developed a floppy belly and thighs I no longer feel comfortable sleeping naked, lest I terrify the emergency services in the event of an overnight fire.

Now I sleep in a t shirt but still no knickers. To quote Old Archie (Harry Potter) ‘I like a healthy breeze around my privates, thanks’

Delatron · 17/08/2019 20:54

Just knickers all year round. Would be too hot to sleep in pjs even in the depths of winter and we have the heating off overnight.

I feel too exposed naked!

GladAllOver · 17/08/2019 20:57

No knickers here, I want air to circulate. Sleep naked unless it's very cold.
Straight from shower to bed.

Leftiefterson · 17/08/2019 21:14

Wear what you feel comfortable in. I tend to sleep naked but sometimes if it’s particularly cold and my dp isn’t here I’ll wear a top with some knickers.

TheSultanofPingu · 17/08/2019 21:31

Obviously it's a personal choice. There is no right or wrong.
The comments suggesting that either way is weird or unhygienic are annoying.

aspoonfulofyourownmedicine · 18/08/2019 00:51

Surely it's just personal preference?

I don't wear anything for bed, unless I've fallen asleep watching tv and have jarmies on. I get showered every night before bed too so perfectly 'clean'. My DH is like a hot water bottle so I'm never cold in bed. The only time I deliberately go to bed with knickers on is if it's TOTM.

aspoonfulofyourownmedicine · 18/08/2019 00:55

I do tend to leave a dressing gown on the floor beside my bed in case of late night toilet trips/emergencies etc. Wink Wink
