To wear knickers to bed?

Blue2309 · 16/08/2019 22:36

I always feel exposed if I don’t, but dh says that I’m insulating myself from the world and also that it’s more hygienic. Thoughts? I assumed most people wear knickers to bed...

Yes, I don't get the breathing thing either.

By that thinking, we should all be going without knickers during the day as well. Or is it only at night that our 'bits' need to breathe?

I'm sure a pair of cotton knickers overnight are not going to cause problems, well they don't for me.

PixiKitKat · 17/08/2019 14:56

@mummylikescrisps that's my logic too 😂

I put clean ones on for bed though as I have boy short ones for bed time, usually with Disney characters on

Fizzpopwhizzbang · 17/08/2019 15:03

Yuck to the bloke commenting on this thread

Seriously? Are you 7? Grow up, for goodness sake

Iggly · 17/08/2019 15:09

Unless you sleep without a cover, your bits cannot get much air pants or no pants.

hopefulmama36 · 17/08/2019 15:30

I wear knickers under my pjs. Always have done I always feel I need to change my pjs if I don't. I don't have enough for a pair a night. I've very rarely ever had thrush so my fanjo seems ok without being aired each night. Plus I can't stand the seam of my pjs going up my fanjo or butt crack.

HouseworkAvoider10 · 17/08/2019 15:33

If you don't take your knickers off in bed they will be darked on.
Grin

honestly - husbands only want the knickers off in bed and they can hopefully finger their way to some sex.
simple.

Ffs! Breathe has an e on the end. Without it, it is breath to rhyme with death. I wear pants to bed. Fannies do not breathe.

bouncingraindrops · 17/08/2019 16:02

If the fanny needed to breathe air it would be positioned on the face, alongside the mouth and nose.

DaveCoachesgavemetheclap · 17/08/2019 16:13

Never wear pants in bed, just a nightie.

GREATAUNT1 · 17/08/2019 16:14

Noooo! I like to give mine a good airing, otherwise it stinks. Soz too much info, but tried & tested. If the PJ’s stink I just change them or wear a nightie in the good weather. Although lots of people wear them, some even wear their bra!!! 🤔

Whoseagooddoggiethen · 17/08/2019 16:15

All i wear to bed is knickers. Nice shower and fresh bridgets on everynight before crawling into bed:)

Greenteandchives · 17/08/2019 16:21

I only ever wear a silk slip. No knickers. I couldn’t bear to wear pyjamas or anything round my legs in bed.
It’s increasingly hard to find nice nighties. I usually get them online from Intimissimi.

100timewforgotten · 17/08/2019 16:26

I sleep naked so never wear anything lol.

bringincrazyback · 17/08/2019 16:27

Bemused by the 'hygiene' comments. Provided you wash your nightwear/bed linen often enough, what the heck does it matter? Also, if you keep the same knickers on as you've worn all day, you'll be wearing them pretty much for 24 hours. How is that more hygienic? scratches head

bluebluezoo · 17/08/2019 16:29

“Breathing” refers to air circulation, rathere than inhaling into lungs Confused.

Bacteria, yeast etc all reproduce fastest in dark, moist environments with no air circulation. Wearing close fitting garments like pants maintain that lack of air, dark, moist environment.

So when people say “let it breathe”- they mean let air circulate to help the natural flora maintain balance. Which is why they find not wearing pants can help control thrush outbreaks.

PuppyMonkey · 17/08/2019 16:48

This is a predictably daft thread but by far the oddest thing on it OP’s DH and his “insulating yourself from the world” hypothesis.Grin

Wear or don’t wear WTF you like to bed, that’s what I say.

cookiechomper · 17/08/2019 16:55

No I don't. I just wear pj bottoms unless I'm on my period, then I'll wear knickers too.

cookiechomper · 17/08/2019 16:55

And I wear fresh pjs every night.

Moominfan · 17/08/2019 16:58

I'm trying to think of a way of saying this without sounding a massive creep. If you sleep without pants what about moisture? Where does it go? Blush

bluebluezoo · 17/08/2019 17:22

“Moisture” is more noticable if you are wearing pants as they don’t allow air circulation and evaporation. Someone might feel very damp wearing pants, but not have an issue naked.

FreshHorizons · 17/08/2019 17:24

I wouldn’t but it is personal choice.

bouncingraindrops · 17/08/2019 17:28

I like to give mine a good airing, otherwise it stinks.

I use the shower for that Grin

Yogagirl123 · 17/08/2019 17:30

I couldn’t go to bed without knickers!

Grimbles · 17/08/2019 17:41

So you sleep with legs akimbo and a spotlight on your foof then? Grin

NigesFakeWalkingStick · 17/08/2019 17:41

Always wear knickers. Ever since a child, I guess I was given them to sleep in when I was little, and never strayed from it. Every other part of me is naked apart from winter, but I have to sleep in knickers, even if it's just a thong.
