To wear knickers to bed?

I always feel exposed if I don’t, but dh says that I’m insulating myself from the world and also that it’s more hygienic. Thoughts? I assumed most people wear knickers to bed...

None. Don’t understand the it’s unhygienic comment, why. Think its more hygienic to get a bit of air down there, to stop yeast infections.

Do the knicker wearers put fresh ones onto go to bed.

pigsDOfly · 16/08/2019 23:11

Your bum needs to breathe.

What on earths going to happen if your bum isn't allowed to breathe?

It's just a pair of knickers, not some kind of skin tight rubber suit; well not for most people.

pigsDOfly · 16/08/2019 23:12

I put fresh ones on every night.

SarahAndQuack · 16/08/2019 23:12

Anything is fine, so long as you wash it often enough.

Obviously if you wear PJs with no knickers, you'll wash them every day. Personally, since knickers take less space in the wash, I prefer to wear them. But each to their own.

QueenoftheNowhereverse · 16/08/2019 23:12

I’ve slept starkers since I was 14 when I heard Marilyn Munroe did it. Clearly I had delusions in my youth.

I only wear knickers to bed when I’ve got my period. Unfortunately that’s today.

TheSultanofPingu · 16/08/2019 23:13

Do one's bits actually get much of an airing though?
Neither is wrong or weird. It's personal preference.

Piehunter · 16/08/2019 23:13

I wear knickers to bed because I feel sticky without...TMI! But I find the wetness not being absorbed makes me itchy in my sleep. I sleep just wearing knickers if DSS isn't here, otherwise with a vest top too, I love wearing pj's before bed but hate sleeping in them!

Purplecatshopaholic · 16/08/2019 23:13

I sleep naked - and given I am at that time of life where I practically glow in the dark at night, I can’t bear the thought of wearing anything!

timshelthechoice · 16/08/2019 23:13

Unless you sleep with no duvet, blanket, sheet or covering your bits aren't going to get air Hmm. I don't see how it's more hygienic to not wear knickers in bed.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 16/08/2019 23:13

I am genuinely shocked at the amount of people who wear knicks to bed!
I always thought bedtime was a good time to let the fanjo breathe and have a bit of an airing?!
If you wanna wear knicks that's cool, just how I feel/was told by my mother Smile

KUGA · 16/08/2019 23:14

Never worn knickers in bed unless on period.
And having gone through the menopause its been around 9 years . Also, was told by my GP wearing them can cause thrush etc as that area needs to breath. Makes sense to me. Havent had issues since.

DontCallMeShitley · 16/08/2019 23:14

I can't sleep with anything on in bed. Things ride up, go sideways, roll into lumps. How on earth do people sleep in clothes?

Knickers and pyjamas are the worst, knickers sneak round to one side and up where they shouldn't be, pyjamas ride up and also go where they shouldn't, the ankles end up mid calf. T shirt tops end up bunched under my tits.

I don't move much in bed either, just turn over a few times and I don't thrash about so have no idea how it is so uncomfortable.

Northernsoullover · 16/08/2019 23:15

I always go to bed dressed like Sherpa Tensing. Underwear, pyjamas and a dressing gown. I think there are two weeks of the year I'm warm enough to wear a nightie without my dressing gown.

romany4 · 16/08/2019 23:15

I never wear knickers to bed unless I've got my period
I always like my bottom half to be free in bed

SarahAndQuack · 16/08/2019 23:16

People do know ... your fanjo and jacksie can't actually breathe, right?

Confused

Let them loose if it makes you happy, but unless you're wearing bum-lift spanx, I suspect there's no big difference between knickers or PJ bottoms or being starkers under a duvet, is there?

Piehunter · 16/08/2019 23:16

And yes, I have different knickers for bed @Thecabbageassasin :D I separate them out in my drawer, can't be dealing with sleeping in anything remotely sexy 😂 I get through a lot of pants!!

fedup21 · 16/08/2019 23:18

I wear a vest top with either pyjama bottoms, pyjama shorts or knickers-depending on how cold it was.

I wouldn’t wear knickers with pyjamas though-it’s either/or!

EmmaC78 · 16/08/2019 23:18

Another non-knicker wearer here :) I am surprised so many wear them to bed, for some reason I assumed most people didn't.

Teddy1970 · 16/08/2019 23:19

I always wear (cotton) knickers to bed, it would feel horrible without them to be honest, but posters saying your foof needs an airing, it can't get much under a thick duvet anyway!

pickletickled · 16/08/2019 23:19

margotsdevil
Are you me? You've just said almost exactly what I was going to say :)
Haha how strange! my Dh thinks I'm weird when I sleep naked that my bum/bits must be covered.
I'll also add I rarely wear knickers ever - they feel restricting somehow.
Also not getting how it's unhygienic? clothes get washed as knickers do after you've worn them and I'm clean, why would I not be Confused

TheSultanofPingu · 16/08/2019 23:20

I've worn knickers to bed ever since a dose of threadworms aged 10 (tmi, sorry)
I've had thrush once in my life and I'm 50 now, so for me at least that doesn't seem a problem.

DippyAvocado · 16/08/2019 23:21

No knickers here. I just prefer the feeling of a bit of air. Also, if you put clean ones on each night, I'd need double the amount of knickers.

poppym12 · 16/08/2019 23:21

I don't take them off before I get into bed but if I'm not wearing any ie if I've just had another shower, I don't put some on to get into bed.

MrsBobBlackadder · 16/08/2019 23:22

No knickers here - unless on period. I HATE wearing knickers in bed - it feels too constricting somehow....

Teddy1970 · 16/08/2019 23:23

I meant to add that wearing knickers to bed hasn't caused me endless bouts of thrush, like the previous poster I've had it only once and that was in my teens.
