To wear knickers to bed?

I always feel exposed if I don’t, but dh says that I’m insulating myself from the world and also that it’s more hygienic. Thoughts? I assumed most people wear knickers to bed...

I always wear knickers (cotton, “granny pants” so plenty of room to “breathe”) and I remember when I was about 10 a friend’s mum (I was there for a sleepover) commenting that I needed to let things breathe. Funny old thing to say now I think about it... Confused

Just feels really weird not to wear anything. I wouldn’t like it!

PurpleDaisies · 16/08/2019 22:54

Pants for me too.

Grandmi · 16/08/2019 22:54

Knickers always ..my children who are early 20s always where boxers / knickers to bed ..it’s so much more hygienic!!

cakesandphotos · 16/08/2019 22:54

I feel like I'm going to wet myself if I don't wear knickers in bed Blush I have no idea why!

doyoureallylikeit · 16/08/2019 22:55

I have to wear knickers to bed....it feels wrong without! Plus I always end up with one leg out of bed and thrown over the duvet and I always worry that if we were ever broke into some poor unsuspecting burgular would walk in the bedroom to my great white arse hanging out the bed haha

Butterfly3005 · 16/08/2019 22:56

Sometimes I wear knickers in bed and sometimes I don't, depends how I feel! However, I do find though that if I dont wear any then I need to pee more often. I don't know why! Unless being naked makes me aroused which feels like I need to pee.

Deadlysinner · 16/08/2019 22:57

I always do. Have done since I was 9. So weird without.

TheCanyon · 16/08/2019 22:57

I wear just pants to bed about 357 not quite exact figures, I'll count from now days of the year. The rest, I wear jammies with pants.

Cant mind the last time I purposely got into bed with no pants. Dh woukd think he had won the lottery.

margotsdevil · 16/08/2019 22:58

Never wear knickers in bed but I need to make sure my bum is covered by the duvet - even if the rest of me is hanging out the edges I have to have a bit of coverage!

ILearnedItFromABook · 16/08/2019 22:58

Insulated from the world? Confused

So he thinks wearing underwear to bed is like living too much in your head (never noticing everything unfolding all around you), only for your nether region?

And the woman who felt silly sleeping naked alone probably meant that (for her) the purpose of going to bed naked was to spend time with someone else (who would also be naked). If you're not used to sleeping nude all the time, it's a (very little) bit like walking around in a bikini when there's no chance of going for a swim. Wink

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 16/08/2019 22:59

I end up naked in dreams if I don’t wear knickers to bed. And not the good naked.

Drogosnextwife · 16/08/2019 23:00

I don't even wear them during the day🤷‍♀️

MummyLikesCrisps · 16/08/2019 23:01

I always wear knickers in case a spider crawls in my foof while I'm sleeping!

theunrivalledjoysofparenting · 16/08/2019 23:01

No, I hate pants in bed. Your bum needs to breathe.

Legomadx2 · 16/08/2019 23:02

This comes round on MN every year or two.

People are split between those like me who think it is preferable to air one's bits, and those who think it's a bit gross NOT to cover up with pants at night.

I'm right, obvs.

Beaverdam · 16/08/2019 23:04

Id never wear knickers to bed. Thats really weird. Why are posters saying theyd worry about discharge? How much of it do you get?

ImportantWater · 16/08/2019 23:04

Used to be no-knickers. Since having kids, I have to wear knickers. I feel weird and leaky and can’t get to sleep otherwise.

itsabootyhole · 16/08/2019 23:06

All my life I did until last year and now I can't sleep with them on 🤷🏻‍♀️

Skittlenommer · 16/08/2019 23:06

I wear undies (including bra), and either shorts and a t-shirt or lounge pants and a t-shirt. If it’s really hot I’ll take off my shorts/lounge pants! Grin

Elieza · 16/08/2019 23:07

I always wear my drawers under my jammies. Keeps any leaks of bodily fluids in and away from the clean jammies, duvet and sheets! And the jammies keep any sweat (or back spots I’ve knocked the top off and are gunky) away from the bedding too.
I change my underwear daily obviously but only change my jammies about every third or fourth day. The bed gets done fortnightly or after ten days if it’s sweaty weather.
Every man I’ve lived with (three) couldn’t get the hang of a top sheet under the duvet over the top of us and it ended up twisted or on the floor. One of life’s little mysteries what the problem is. So i gave up on a top sheet.

ReanimatedSGB · 16/08/2019 23:08

I don't like wearing knickers to bed (unless it was period time, which is happily no longer an issue for me). Though lately I have been doing so if I'm wearing a nightie or shirt rather than PJs, as DS is having another spell of nightmares, which means he sometimes wants to come and get in bed with me, so I'd rather be a bit more covered up.

JacquettaW · 16/08/2019 23:08

I always wear knickers to bed. In fact I always wear pyjamas too. For me I think it's a sensory thing (think I may be on the spectrum somewhere) I can't sleep naked and I need the weight of the duvet or I can't sleep.

I really suffer in summer with hardly any sleep Sad

ButtonMooooon · 16/08/2019 23:08

I normally sleep in a vest top or nightie depending on weather but always with big granny pants on. However I gave birth just under two weeks ago and am currently without pants and sleeping on a maternity mat after complications with the birth. I am more comfortable that way until I wake up all sweaty on the matBlush

gavisconismyfriend · 16/08/2019 23:09

in case a spider crawls in my foof

Oh no! I'm in the no-knickers camp, but I'd never thought about the spider/foof risk!!!

TheRLodger · 16/08/2019 23:09

No matter how hot it is I have to wear knickers and something covering my top half. I have no idea but I don’t sleep at all well with out something covering me. I used to no wear knickers but then at a sleepover someone pointed it out to me and as a self conscious teen I was like Confused and the rest is history
