It's Tuesday night. Brexit and other awful stuff dominates the news. Cheer me up please and tell me what you have bought from the aisle of randomness.

I went in today for Bread and Milk. And came out with a glue gun and a pair of swimming goggles (Damn you, DD)

I'm of a certain age. I remember the Victoria Wood sketch where she said if you can't get me a raspberry yoghurt, get me something else. So her friend got her a meat and potato pie...

So of course none of us are swayed by the aisle of randomness. At all. Ever.

I loved their harry potter event in the aisle of crap
PJ's for my Dt, a mug, three cuddly figures, a water bottle and a pillow for me

Their wool is great too
However their patterns aren't well written

slavetothemoney · 13/08/2019 21:27

Went in for burger buns..came out with a floppy straw hat. And i LOVE IT!!! Wearing it round the house with big sunglasses on Grin

ConorMcGregorsChin · 13/08/2019 21:27

Seriously pissing myself laughing now.
Thank you. All of you. Didn't expect much response.

I think you need to go back in there for a glue gun @AliceLutherNeeMorgan!

Giraffey1 · 13/08/2019 21:28

I went to Aldi yesterday and came home with Jo Malone style air freshener rods, two tins of sardines (for the dogs), two boxes of sugar free sherbet lemons (I’m addicted to these, I fear) and some Stardrops vinegar cleaner. Oh, the excitement!

Mildpanic · 13/08/2019 21:28

Are glue guns in Aldi this week? DC’s have been nattering for one for ages. Will they still have them on Saturday? Need to rethink my week(missing point)

Biffsboys · 13/08/2019 21:28

DH went in for milk and came out with a leaf blower- we have NO trees in our garden !

TroubleTremble · 13/08/2019 21:28

Last month - I went in for bananas and salad bits.

Came out with an electric shredder.

I have nothing to shred.

Confused
ConorMcGregorsChin · 13/08/2019 21:29

@slavetothemoney I bought that same hat!

threesenoughthanks · 13/08/2019 21:31

Oooh thelikelylass I wanted one of those but they only had the grey ones left in our store. I did come out with a microwave yourself a boiled egg gadget. I don't need it but it looked cute and it was 15p how could I resist?

justforthisnow · 13/08/2019 21:32

Halloumi fries

ConorMcGregorsChin · 13/08/2019 21:32

@Mildpanic. Yes. Glueguns are on offer right now (far be it for me to cause absolute panic on this)

Twenty-four “farmhouse style” yoghurts (the ones in glass jars). They.are really good yoghurts but WTF do I do with all the jars?!

You need Conor’s glue gun and Jesuschristchocolatebar’s slug pellets (I’m assuming they’re the pretty blue ones).

SeamstressfromTreacleMineRoad · 13/08/2019 21:33

Thank goodness I read @Justajot's list before I handed those nice felt tips over to 3 year-old DGS...! Shock I wouldn't have been popular with DD... Grin

(I'd gone in for some loo rolls...)

drspouse · 13/08/2019 21:34

I went in for fruit and biscuits once and came out with a water butt.

Meckity1 · 13/08/2019 21:34

I didn't realise that the inexpensive diet cola would have me walking past a very reasonably priced large garden trug which is currently taking up too much room in the kitchen.

It's not just Aldi, though. A few years back DH went into PC world for an ink cartridge and came out with a £600 PC.

YoTheGinPussyOfThigh · 13/08/2019 21:35

I used to audit the aisle of randomness in Aldi, came home with all sorts of wonders. Duvets, mini woks. I used to love back to school weeks when the frenzy of buying was great and people were fighting over the last jumper.

Geraniumpink · 13/08/2019 21:36

Be careful with those glue guns - my dd accidentally burnt a small hole in her leg with one. I recommend gloves if your younger dc are usIng them - it’s surprisingly very easy to burn yourself!

I bought a random houseplant in a llama shaped planter at Lidl...

galvantula · 13/08/2019 21:36

Fill the jars with slime from one of the slime kits?

slavetothemoney · 13/08/2019 21:36

@ConorMcGregorsChin , it's a fab hat! I'm looking forward to wearing it at the airport, on the plane, everywhere else I go..😆

JapaneseBirdPainting · 13/08/2019 21:36

I call it the 'Aisle of Regret'. Yet to be fair we rarely regret anything we have bought.

I bought a halter and a hay net once. I don't own a horse. Or ride.

ConorMcGregorsChin · 13/08/2019 21:37

Shredding when you have nothing to shred.
Don't like yoghurt? No problem..
Just goes to show my point.
You cannot go into Aldi and not get totally carried away

I went in for milk and nappies yesterday and now have a paddling pool.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 13/08/2019 21:39

From Aldi (my only trip, to check out the craft items):

a cheap rotary cutter on which the blade is too small to cut anything when used with a quilting ruler. It just coasts in mid-air above the fabric. It does cut fabric, but only freehand which kinda misses the point.

Sorry Aldi, won't be back.
