Corned Beef Hash Controversy

H and I are discussing the way to make this. He’s waving a masher around and is obviously wrong.

  1. Parboil cubed pots.
  2. Fry onions
  3. Add pots to onions
  4. Brown a bit
  5. Chuck in oven with cheese on top
  6. Eat with baked beans and a fried egg.

He’s also suggesting green stuff which is so wrong I may have to kill him.

That's a stew summery. What is it doing inside a yorkshire pud?

PeriComoToes · 29/07/2019 20:41

Yours is far too fancy to be considered a 'real' corned beef hash though it does sound delicious!

Mash potato, onion, corned beef and a few tinned tomatoes. Frying pan.

@BoreOfWhabylon a stew would have stewed beef in it, this has corned beef in. It goes in a Yorkshire pud as it's not a mash, so doesn't go with mashed potatoes...or eggs...or beans 🤢

BoreOfWhabylon · 29/07/2019 20:52

It's a corned beef stew

Looks very tasty though!

TinklyLittleLaugh · 29/07/2019 20:54

Mine contains carrots, celery, peas, oxo and Worcester sauce in addition to the obvious potato, onion and corned beef. No mashing either.

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 29/07/2019 20:56

Mash the hash! Stir in cubed corned beef, make into volcano on plate- fill top of volcano with Heinz tomato soup!

Jamiefraserskilt · 29/07/2019 20:58

Rough mash for hash

Rachelover40 · 30/07/2019 14:26

I'm going to tell you something which will be sacrilege to many.

Yesterday evening I had a microwaveable frozen corned beef hash from Iceland.

It wasn't as elaborate as when I and husband have made it but, boy, was it tasty!

mybrilliantmind · 30/07/2019 14:40

I don't know who these weirdos are that cube potatoes and put green veg in.
It's definitely mashed potato and, for a touch of class, crush cheese and onion crisps mixed in with grated cheese and sprinkle on top. Serve with baked beans or smear on crusty buttered bread with brown sauce.

Cheeserton · 30/07/2019 15:06

Tomato soup?? That's evil. Utter sacrilege. Stop ruining corned beef hash!
