The cheapest and the most expensive property within 5 miles...

TheFridgeRaider · 22/07/2019 19:24

Seeing so many threads about properties and the difference in prices reported I get why it can be so difficult for people to imagine the differences between areas.

Would IBU to be curious and ask you to hop on primelocation and see what are the cheapest and the most expensive properties within 5 miles of your home? Ignore shared ownership, retirement only and investment student studios. Obviously you don't have to post links, just say the area so you can keep anonymous.

I will start.
NW big city
The cheapest:
2 bed flat 35k. Fully livable! Just needs decorating. 15 min to city centre.
The most expensive: 😮
8 bed, oh so amazing, grade 2 listed £1,995,000. 25 min to city centre.

Near Durham
5.5 million - manor house with stables and outbuildings
19k - 1 bed flat

EscapeTheOrdinary · 22/07/2019 19:31

SE village

Most expensive is £4.5 million and is a 6 bed beautiful Manor House in a village very near by

Cheapest is £80,000 for 1 bed flat in nearby seaside town but it appears to be in such bad condition they only have 1 photo inside and it’s a bath tub!

TheFridgeRaider · 22/07/2019 19:31

19k - 1 bed flat
Shock
Is it habitable?

I realised I should have been bit more specific. I guess NW is massive.Blush
Mine were from Merseyside.

calamariqueen · 22/07/2019 19:33

Rural, 20 mins to large city, 1.5 hours from London.
Most expensive £32,500.000. Manor House with outbuildings, outdoor pool.
Cheapest £50,000 one bed flat, nice condition.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 22/07/2019 19:37

We are the south east.

Most expensive is £5.5 million (8 bedrooms, GORGEOUS and only 3 miles from me)

Cheapest ( that isn’t shared ownership or for over 65s only) is £94.5 thousand - one bedroom flat.

House prices as a whole are simply obscene IMO.

TeeniefaeTroon · 22/07/2019 19:37

North East Scotland
£40000 2 bed doer upper
£995,000 9 bed house with 9 acres of land

Carpetburns · 22/07/2019 19:38

£171k for a 2 bed flat

TheFridgeRaider · 22/07/2019 19:38

but it appears to be in such bad condition they only have 1 photo inside and it’s a bath tub!

Glasgow.
Most expensive: £260,000. 1 bed flat. Pretty spacious but otherwise nothing special.
Cheapest: £55, 000. 2 beds. Perfectly nice. The words "desirable district of Ruchill" is making me eye roll however.

heath48 · 22/07/2019 19:39

Half hour commute to Birmingham.

£65,000 one bedroom modern flat, looks nice.

£5 million.Farm.

happytoday73 · 22/07/2019 19:39

5 miles.. SW Manchester...(ignoring land and garage) £40k 1 bed flat for over 55s but its shared ownership. Most expensive offers over £3million.. Block of expensive 2 beds... And a house that's POA. Next 2.25 million for 5 bed house that's nice but not huge in nice area

HeyYouWhatToDo · 22/07/2019 19:39

Yorkshire.
Most expensive...£1,250,000 6 bed detached house with extensive gardens, detached barn, tennis court and a helipad.

Cheapest...£25,000 1 bed terraced house (but that's auction guide price in need of renovation)

Cheapest livable straight sale...£32,000 1 bed apartment.

EnsignRoLaren · 22/07/2019 19:39

Cotswoldy village location!

Most expensive: this 11 bedroom, 60 acre property (yet to be built!) which is POA: [[Akeman Street, Ramsden, Oxfordshire, OX7
www.rightmove.co.uk/new-homes-for-sale/property-73063342.html here]].

The next property down is £6 million.

Cheapest is a two-bed apartment for £94k, a new build. Next cheapest is £130k (a one bed apartment).

Spendy! There’s a big problem with locals not being able to afford houses, and quite a lot of new housing developments popping up.

Alarae · 22/07/2019 19:40

11.25m, 11 bedroom grade 2 Georgian house, includes three other 3 bed houses on the grounds

230,000 3 bed terraced house

Tweetingmagpie · 22/07/2019 19:40

I’m in West Sussex and I couldn’t find anything under 50k that wasnt a beach hut or a caravan.

Most expensive was a 7 bedroom grade 2 listed house, it’s actually down the road from me and I had no idea it was so much or so big!

Felyne · 22/07/2019 19:40

Surrey.

£22 million. 6 bedroom, 7 bathroom, '6-8 reception rooms'(?), swimming pool.
£19,000 for a garage, if that counts. Otherwise £51,250 for a one-bed apartment on the third floor with no lifts.

victorioussponges · 22/07/2019 19:40

Surrey

Most expensive: £29 million 11 bedroon new build. Looks a bit like Buckingham Palace but if made out of plastic and Kendal mint cake.

Cheapest: £65k for a one bed bungalow...owner REALLY likes floral wallpaper.

Presumably everything in the middle (several thousand other properties) is all normal Grin

Tweetingmagpie · 22/07/2019 19:40

Oh it was just under 2m. Not bad really!

JoJoSM2 · 22/07/2019 19:40

NewtonPulsifier, that’s a crazy difference!

I’m in outer London.

Most expensive
Mega mansion POA just outside London
Large semi in SW London for 5M

Cheapest
A micro cash-only studio for 110k (in outer London)

MiniMiniMiniBar · 22/07/2019 19:41

North London
Cheapest - 160k for a 1 room studio, cash buyers only
Most expensive - 36 million for a mansion with pool, gym, ice room (?), hairdresser and staff quarters

Thistly · 22/07/2019 19:41
