The cheapest and the most expensive property within 5 miles...

TheFridgeRaider · 22/07/2019 19:24

Seeing so many threads about properties and the difference in prices reported I get why it can be so difficult for people to imagine the differences between areas.

Would IBU to be curious and ask you to hop on primelocation and see what are the cheapest and the most expensive properties within 5 miles of your home? Ignore shared ownership, retirement only and investment student studios. Obviously you don't have to post links, just say the area so you can keep anonymous.

I will start.
NW big city
The cheapest:
2 bed flat 35k. Fully livable! Just needs decorating. 15 min to city centre.
The most expensive: 😮
8 bed, oh so amazing, grade 2 listed £1,995,000. 25 min to city centre.

My dream home sits at 750k - it’s been going down in £20k increments. I live in hope it will get down to my budget Grin

South West Scotland.
Cheapest - £30,000 - 1 bed bungalow, decent condition, could do with redecorating maybe?
Most expensive- £30,000 1 bed bungalow.

Yes, there is only 1 property for sale in a 5 mile radius of me!

LoveGrowsWhere · 23/07/2019 23:08

£1.8m gorgeous house with lake, tennis court & paddocks.
£22k 2 bed semi on a first-time buyer shared ownership scheme.
Yorkshire

AnonymousMugwumpery · 23/07/2019 23:17

Blimey. Most expensive is £29,000,000. It is detached, if that helps. 11 bedrooms.

Cheapest is - scrolls through garages for £35,000 - aha! A houseboat for offers above £50,000. If you want something on land, it's £149,500 for a studio.

I live in Surrey, but clearly can't actually afford to.

WBWIFE · 23/07/2019 23:23

Very practical, it has a 'boot and dog washing room'.

TheFridgeRaider · 24/07/2019 19:45

Am I correct that so far the record is the 60mil house in London?
And on the other side of scale 19k flat in co Durham?

When it comes to full on ownership?

I am discounting the £1 "land" 😁 sorry

growlingbear · 02/08/2019 08:29

Ah, @TheFridgeRaider, poor house. It just needs love. Can't help wondering what the locals are like if they can't give the houses away, though.

NotSoThinLizzy · 02/08/2019 08:30

Highlands most expensive is 400,000 for 7 bedroom right on the beach

Absoluteunit · 02/08/2019 08:30

East of England.

Most expensive £1,950,000 6 bed detached

Cheapest £18,000 static caravan

LemonRedwood · 02/08/2019 08:31

Am about 30mins north west of London

Most expensive - £3.5m for a 7 bedroom barn conversion.

Cheapest - £36,500 for a 2 bed flat. Although there were several "land for sale" listings for anywhere between £6,000 and £12,000 before that. A parking space at the arse end of the met line will cost you £12,000 but you can get a whole field for £6,000.

Absoluteunit · 02/08/2019 08:31

For actual bricks the cheapest is a studio flat for £72,500
