The cheapest and the most expensive property within 5 miles...

TheFridgeRaider · 22/07/2019 19:24

Seeing so many threads about properties and the difference in prices reported I get why it can be so difficult for people to imagine the differences between areas.

Would IBU to be curious and ask you to hop on primelocation and see what are the cheapest and the most expensive properties within 5 miles of your home? Ignore shared ownership, retirement only and investment student studios. Obviously you don't have to post links, just say the area so you can keep anonymous.

I will start.
NW big city
The cheapest:
2 bed flat 35k. Fully livable! Just needs decorating. 15 min to city centre.

TinyMystery · 22/07/2019 19:42

Rural South East.

Most expensive £2,500,000 - 6 bedrooms and 4 acres.
Cheapest £350,000 - 3 bed semi in the nearest big village.

Ours was less than the current cheapest (tiny 2 bed cottage in a more rural location) but rarely are there houses for less than £320,000.

Alarae · 22/07/2019 19:42

Woops! Had a filter on so need to update.

11.25m, grade 2 listed Georgian house with three other 3 bed houses on grounds

115k studio flat

Based in a commuter town to London

FairfaxHigh · 22/07/2019 19:42

Greater Manchester town-

Cheapest - £35,000 3 bed terrace

Most expensive-£1,900,000 9 bedroom pile in extensive grounds with separate coach house etc (actually in Cheshire but within 5 miles)

Youwanapizzame · 22/07/2019 19:43

8 million and £4K land there's a garage for sale at 16.5k. The cheapest dwelling is a flat at £56K

TheHandsOfNeilBuchanan · 22/07/2019 19:43

Essex £4.9 million 5 bed detached, although a fair few that look swankier and price is on application only. Lowest offers over £115k one bed flat complete renovation needed in a really grotty area. There were two cheaper at £75 and £80 k but they were boats and not house boats!

Goforitgirl · 22/07/2019 19:43

Lowest - 3 bedroom flat guide price of £12k

Dearest - 4 bedroom detached villa £534999

stucknoue · 22/07/2019 19:43

Midlands - cheapest 1 bed flat £65k, most expensive 8 bedroom mansion on 2 acres, £2.9million! Unusual I suspect but ones ex council estate the other is one of the most exclusive villages in the county, a footballer is selling the aforementioned pile.

blamethecat · 22/07/2019 19:43

Midlands, £65k 1 bed flat looks ready to live in. £4.5million farm with land 322 acres

Shodan · 22/07/2019 19:43

Most expensive : £29,000,000 (although yet to be built, apparently)
Next most expensive with a price actually given is £14,500,000. Grade 2 listed building includes a cinema, 50 foot ballroom and 9 bedrooms, amongst other delights.

Cheapest : £51250, 1 bed flat.

grafittiartist · 22/07/2019 19:44

Hull:
Both new builds:
offers over £500 big detached village house,
£21,250, 2 bed semi (shared ownership).
Both surprised me actually.

WeArnottamused · 22/07/2019 19:44

Most expensive : £800k 4 bedroom detached house with stables and 40 acres of land.

bookworm14 · 22/07/2019 19:46

Highest price: £60 million quid for a ‘six bedroom townhouse’ www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-81621521.html

Lowest price: £15k for a fucking garage. www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-72992233.html

Yes, I live in London.

MulberryPeony · 22/07/2019 19:46

Lowest is 7.5k for a flat above a pizza shop. Minimal photos but looks livable but not lovable! Next lowest is a full house for £15k at auction that looks like it needs at least that spending on it again.

Highest just under 2 million for a beautiful character property.

North East region.

Jenasaurus · 22/07/2019 19:46

99,500 studio flat. 794000 4 bed detached

Stravapalava · 22/07/2019 19:46

East Midlands:

Cheapest: apart from "student investment properties" and shared ownership, £60k will get you a ground floor 1 bed flat with sitting tenant, a "park home" or a small plot of land.

Most expensive: There's a massive plot of land under "POA", otherwise you can have yourself a Grade 2 listed, 5 bed detached in a village for £2.5 mil.
