The cheapest and the most expensive property within 5 miles...

TheFridgeRaider · 22/07/2019 19:24

Seeing so many threads about properties and the difference in prices reported I get why it can be so difficult for people to imagine the differences between areas.

Would IBU to be curious and ask you to hop on primelocation and see what are the cheapest and the most expensive properties within 5 miles of your home? Ignore shared ownership, retirement only and investment student studios. Obviously you don't have to post links, just say the area so you can keep anonymous.

I will start.
NW big city
The cheapest:
2 bed flat 35k. Fully livable! Just needs decorating. 15 min to city centre.
The most expensive: 😮
8 bed, oh so amazing, grade 2 listed £1,995,000. 25 min to city centre.

SW
£4.25m for some horrible modern converted monstrosity, entirely not in keeping with its beautiful surroundings. 7 bedrooms, a pool and a gym.
£70k for 1 bedroom flat. It has its own allocated parking which is worth its weight in gold here. There are some cheaper but they have holiday use only restrictions on them.

Oysterbabe · 22/07/2019 19:47

Bristol.
Highest 3 million.
"A truly magnificent double fronted Grade II listed Georgian townhouse (c. 1780) boasting light and airy accommodation over four floors (5,606 sq ft) with its own sizeable self contained basement flat with private entrance, generous 114 ft x 45 ft south facing walled gardens and nearby double garage with inspection pit."

Cheapest £75,000
"This is a well presented light and airy one bedroom first floor flat of approximately 41 sqm/ 413 sqft."

Theresnoroomonthebroom · 22/07/2019 19:48

South East Essex on the coast:

Studio flat £80,000

Lots of huge houses with POA

Moved here 5 years ago and prices have risen significantly

TheFridgeRaider · 22/07/2019 19:48

Lowest price: £15k for a fucking garage. www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-72992233.html
Not even garage. A parking space.
Though how much is parking in that part of london? Might pay for itself in few years😮

Least expensive: £12k 2 bed mobile home. First thing that isn't a park home, a mooring or a beach hut is a studio flat at £65k.

CottonSock · 22/07/2019 19:50

It's a city of contrasts, like many.

JazzyGG · 22/07/2019 19:50

Worcestershire -

  • cheapest £9k for a "pod home" to be sited elsewhere
  • most expensive £3.5m, 7 bed house just outside Kidderminster
Guest7 · 22/07/2019 19:50

Edinburgh:
Cheapest: 1 bed flat 85000
Most expensive: 6 bed detached townhouse 1995000

Don't think the primelocation website is used much here though. If I search other websites, same criteria, there are more expensive properties. The highest being a 7 bed detached house at 3750000.

Peachyk · 22/07/2019 19:50

Ohh. This is quite eye opening.

Lowest: 1 bed flat £90,000 (it's a bit of a dive, and tiny.) Lots of garages and shared ownership before this though.

Highest: 5 bed detached £5mil. But there are 7 properties above this, including a 10 bed, that are POA....so god knows what they cost Confused

MrsMonkeyBear · 22/07/2019 19:51

East Lothian

1.35million 7 bed house 0.5 miles from town centre (there's a 6 bedroom Equestrian centre for sale for 1.9m but I won't count that)

£73k 1 bed flat in a different village
