The cheapest and the most expensive property within 5 miles...

TheFridgeRaider · 22/07/2019 19:24

Seeing so many threads about properties and the difference in prices reported I get why it can be so difficult for people to imagine the differences between areas.

Would IBU to be curious and ask you to hop on primelocation and see what are the cheapest and the most expensive properties within 5 miles of your home? Ignore shared ownership, retirement only and investment student studios. Obviously you don't have to post links, just say the area so you can keep anonymous.

I will start.
NW big city
The cheapest:
2 bed flat 35k. Fully livable! Just needs decorating. 15 min to city centre.
The most expensive: 😮
8 bed, oh so amazing, grade 2 listed £1,995,000. 25 min to city centre.

£1:3 million. A surprisingly ugly chalet style bungalow. 5 bedrooms. It was so ugly I didn't even want to look at all the photos.
£72k. Shared ownership, two bedroom new build. It was the only one under £80k
Southern Hampshire.

polkadotpixie · 22/07/2019 20:08

Most expensive is £1.75m - 6 bed, 4 bathroom with an indoor pool, gym and sauna

Cheapest is £65k for a 1 bedroom flat

Leicester

4yearsnosleep · 22/07/2019 20:09

Cheapest which isn't shared ownership nor retirement is a 1 bed flat attached to a pub for OIEO £100k and most expensive is an 11 bed for £4.25 mil. We're in Oxfordshire but the 'cheap' bit

thelonggame · 22/07/2019 20:09

N W Surrey

Dearest - 6 bed new build £22,000,000
www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-83477435.html

Cheapest - 1 bed flat £104.000 for 50% shared ownership.

I dread my kids trying to get on the property ladder.

Goyauty · 22/07/2019 20:10

I've had to cheat and extend my search miles as I live in the sticks and there wasn't anything for sale! But within 40 there's a 2 bed terrace for 55k and a nine bedroom house with 8 acres for 475k in North Scottish Highlands.

DontCallMeShitley · 22/07/2019 20:10

My cheapest (above) was the cheapest home, there was a public toilet and some other interesting properties but none were habitable, I assumed it was meant to be housing and not garages, land etc.?

gettingtherequickly · 22/07/2019 20:10

£52k for a one bed flat, £1.5M for a 7 bed grade 2 listed with 10 acres.

KittenLedWeaning · 22/07/2019 20:11

W. Yorks

Most expensive: £2.5 million - 8 bedroom manor house, large grounds, listed building etc.

Cheapest (excluding auctions) - £38k, 1 bedroom maisonette - a wee bit dated in decor but nothing you couldn't live with.

AJ1425 · 22/07/2019 20:11

I wonder if you are near me OP... the most expensive is a grade 2 listed 8 bedroom.... the price wasnt showing though 😳😳
The cheapest was a 50k flat about 10 mins down the road from the most expensive. I live right in the middle of the two.

weebarra · 22/07/2019 20:11

Midlothian - small town about 7 miles from Edinburgh.
Cheapest is a fixed price 1 bedroom flat at £73,000. Tiny kitchen but near a Lidl.
Most expensive is an offers over £950,000 semi rural 5 bed. It's fairly hideous though.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 22/07/2019 20:12

Oh dear, SE area covers rural villages and seaside towns.
Cheapest, GBP29,995 for a garage!
Most expensive is GBP6.9 mil for a 520 acre farm, outbuildings and two cottages but not including the farmhouse!
Potentially a more expensive cliff top property but it’s POA so cant tell, a lot of land, huge house plus other houses on the estate and it’s own lighthouse!

Beanbag12 · 22/07/2019 20:12

West Oxfordshire £110k tiny 1 bed flat, £4.6 million 8 bedroom house. I actually didn’t know you could get anything so cheap around here!

FizzBuzzBangWoof · 22/07/2019 20:12

Rural West Yorkshire

1600K for a 6 bedroom house set in 3.5 acres with landscaped garden and triple garagd

58K for 2 bedroom apartment in nearby town, looks fairly new on external pics

millimollimandi · 22/07/2019 20:13

SW - Bristol commuter belt

Cheapest - 1 bed flat above a shop - £57k
most expensive - 3 bed bungalow £650k

fussychica · 22/07/2019 20:13

Wiltshire

7 bed farm £12million, looks fabulous, put me down for twoGrin

Cheapest that's not a retirement flat is studio flat £76k

museumum · 22/07/2019 20:13

£1.2M for a 5 bed detached bungalow. Gorgeous 1930s with big garden and amazing views.

£130k 2 bed flat. Must be ex council as I’m sure the block is still council housing. It’s one of the most run down blocks in an area where many others have been rebuilt or at least refurbished but it is totally liveable.

Scottish (expensive) City

Gillian1980 · 22/07/2019 20:15

Semi rural Devon.

£1.45m 4 bed (all en-suite) contemporary detached home. 3 reception. Double garage. Numerous terraces and gardens. Private slipway onto river with moorings.

£30k new build studio flat. Open plan kitchen/living/bedroom. Shower room.

Chocrock · 22/07/2019 20:15

Notting Hill
Cheapest £375,000 1 bed ex council flat
Most expensive £115,000,000 Georgian terrace 100,000 square feet!

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 22/07/2019 20:15

Oh, if it can’t include garages, then cheapest is GBP60,000 for a static caravan or if not that then GBP80,000 for a one bedroom flat.

AwkwardPaws27 · 22/07/2019 20:15

Romford, East London.

£4.6 million - 7 bedroom detached house, rear garden approximately 165' x 116 so no stables/paddocks/tennis courts etc. Gated development with swimming pool and gym for residents.

£130k for a studio flat, nearly 2 miles from a station on a rougher estate. This is a bit of an anomaly - the rest start at about £160k - so may have been priced lower due to a short lease or similar.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 22/07/2019 20:15

California:

67,986,400 is the high.

207,159 is the low.

These are pounds, not dollars.

LoveMyNewHome · 22/07/2019 20:16

SweetNorthernRose · 22/07/2019 20:18

@TheNanny23 I'm south Manchester/stockport...that bentham tower flat is ugly as sin! Money clearly can't buy you taste!
