To ask why people feel the need to shop in their gym clothes?

I'm sure it has been asked before but as the title says...why do people feel the need to walk around shops in their sweaty gym clothes?

Do so many people not have time to shower and change after a workout but then manage to find the time to walk around shops? Are they the same people who like to take selfies in gyms to post on social media?

I suppose each to their own and at least gym clothes are better than pyjamas!

Because i get hungry after working out and my gym is next to a supermarket....then I shower at home. Why does it offend you

Camomila · 17/07/2019 16:55

Not all gym type places have showers? Dance/Yoga studios etc. Tbf, I usually got changed after.

Didntwanttochangemyname · 17/07/2019 16:56

If they have been doing weights rather than cardio they may well not be sweaty at all.

cccameron · 17/07/2019 16:56

Grin alot of people just wear gym gear because it's comfortable. Doesn't mean they've been for a sweaty workout then gone straight out

fatandshattered89 · 17/07/2019 16:57

Because, ironically, I'm fat and it's the only clothes to fit me.

Ginnymweasley · 17/07/2019 16:57

I wear gym clothes to run in. I sometimes pop into the shop on my way home. There are lots of reasons others might as well, bootcamp, local classes etc.

squirrelnutkins1 · 17/07/2019 16:57

Because I'm not gonna drive past the shop to go home, have a shower and go back to the shop!

HappyLifeError404 · 17/07/2019 16:57

Because not every gym has showers, and not everybody lives near to a gym. None of the gyms my daughter attends have showers available (or changing rooms), and the supermarket is on the way home, so yes, sometimes she ends up in the supermarket in her gym clothes.

Sometimes she wears gym clothes even if she's not going to the gym - they're comfortable! And I don't see an issue with it. Really what you're focusing on is a social construct. People can wear clothes in any style they please, in their own time.

Goodnightchristopherrobin · 17/07/2019 16:58

I love my yoga pants and live in them. I make no apologies, they’re comfy and they make my bum look fantastic Grin

saj90 · 17/07/2019 16:58

It's comfortable. And if I look like sh*t that day, people will just assume I have been for an intense work out Grin

BistoBear · 17/07/2019 16:58

I live in workout clothes 24/7, sometimes I shop in sweaty kit, sometime it’s clean 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️Not sure how it impacts on you...

tomatoplantproject · 17/07/2019 16:59

For me its a mixture of shops being on the way home from the studio so its the most efficient way of getting what I need, would rather shower at home, don't particularly care if people see me in my gym clothes, don't see shopping as a social activity.

Expressedways · 17/07/2019 16:59

How do you know they’ve been to the gym? Athleisure wear seems to be standard day wear for a lot of people these days. Unless they’re stinky having not showered post workout then it shouldn’t bother you.

thetimekeeper · 17/07/2019 17:00

Why do you care?

PrincessMaryaBolkonskaya · 17/07/2019 17:00

I plan my runs to end at the supermarket so I can pop in on my way home. It hadn’t occurred to me anyone would ever notice. Shock

Girlofgold · 17/07/2019 17:00

How do you know they're not on their way to gym? I've ever seen a sweaty mess in the shops. As long as they don't smell what's the big deal.

PurpleDaisies · 17/07/2019 17:00

Gym clothes are clothes.

Some people are sweaty without having been to the gym.

RedSkyLastNight · 17/07/2019 17:01

I prefer to shower and change at home as the facilities in my gym are limited (think 3 showers which are often out or order and not many lockers). And the supermarket is basically next to the gym. Can't see the issue with shopping in gym clothes anyway. Why does it bother you?

Weebitawks · 17/07/2019 17:01

Well I park in the supermarket car park when I go to my exercise class. After class is generally the only time I don't have kids (no time before due to work etc) so it's easier. Also, I'm usually very hot after class and quite like getting a lolly and standing near the fridges !

I do not take selfies in my gym clothes. I look like a chubby twat in them.

Spudlet · 17/07/2019 17:01

I wouldn’t if I’d been sweating buckets but I will on the way home from yoga - I don’t get especially sweaty, even on a hot day as the studio has air con.

Anyway that’s the least of your worries op - I used to pop in wearing my riding gear too Grin

ShakeYourTailFeathers · 17/07/2019 17:01

it's 'leisure wear' and a lot of it never sees the inside of a gym. It's just comfy.

LittleSwede · 17/07/2019 17:02

Just check out the video Active Wear on YouTube, that is the truth about gym wear Grin

WingBingo · 17/07/2019 17:03

I go for a run after work. Then I go to the supermarket.

There is nowhere to get changed other than my car. I would not want to put my work clothes back in either.

I guess I see your point thought as I don’t like those without a top or in pjs at the supermarket. Suppose it is the same reason.

Astella22 · 17/07/2019 17:03

HmmHmm

ItsBloodyFreezingg · 17/07/2019 17:04

I live in gym clothes when I'm not working tbh. (Not sweaty ones)
