To ask why people feel the need to shop in their gym clothes?

I'm sure it has been asked before but as the title says...why do people feel the need to walk around shops in their sweaty gym clothes?

Do so many people not have time to shower and change after a workout but then manage to find the time to walk around shops? Are they the same people who like to take selfies in gyms to post on social media?

I suppose each to their own and at least gym clothes are better than pyjamas!

You would have hated to be stood next to me at the checkout earlier this evening. Not only was I in extremely sweaty gym clothes I probably didn’t smell very good Grin

I had a great workout though!

soulrunner · 17/07/2019 20:28

Drinking and smoking in my active wear, active wear...... Grin

I often pop to the shop in the town I train in before I drive the 30 miles home to my village with no big shops.

**Most of the school mums wear gym gear for school run also which I don't get why

I do this every morning... I do the school run, go home feed baby (I’m on mat leave) then he naps and I do my workout at home. Don’t see why this would be an issue. My choice and my routine.

beela · 17/07/2019 20:37

Because it's convenient
Because it's comfortable
Because I didn't realise anyone gave a shit what I was wearing when I went to buy bread and milk
Because I don't own specific supermarket clothes
Because I'm not going all the way home to shower and change so that I can go back to the supermarket that I am passing on my way home anyway
Because it's none of your business

What do you wear to the supermarket op? Just so we can check whether it's suitable or not.

Because I go for a run immediately after walking my dc to school?

WhatTheAbsoluteFuck · 17/07/2019 20:40

Because I have sensory issues and some days the only clothes I can stand to wear are my seam free gym clothes.

HTH.

There's a 24 hour gym accessed through our local 24 hour Tesco. Hope that explains why people might be in their gym gear.

Sandybval · 17/07/2019 20:50

I sometimes pop to town on the way home as it I pass it on the way back from the gym, if it's easier to go before or after (most people I know shower at home) then why not.

thecatsthecats · 17/07/2019 20:54

I ran my first 10k in seven years tonight then popped into sainsburys.

I was so pleased with myself even the dirty looks of my sweaty mess cheered me up - I EARNED that disgust Grin

ZillaPilla · 17/07/2019 21:13

I park at Tesco (free) go for a run (with club or friends), pop to shop, go home, shower. So what?

ItsFunnyYouShouldAsk · 17/07/2019 21:15

My gym is on the same street as my supermarket. I prefer showering at home. Makes sense to pop to the shop after a workout then head home.

boymum9 · 17/07/2019 21:15

Because my gym is next to the supermarket and I have an hour or so to run down, workout and grab any bits I need (milk for two young DC's for example) while ex h comes to put them to bed and lets me run off for an hour!

Talith · 17/07/2019 21:31

If they're me they are on their way to the gym not on the way back.
