To feel sorry for Meghan Markle - she looked lonely holding baby Archie at the Polo game

Did anyone else think Meghan Markle looked sad and lonely while holding baby Archie at Harry's polo game yesterday? There she was in the sunshine with her new baby while approx 2 metres away was her sister in law Kate completely wrapped up in her own children looking smug and not even glancing in poor Meghan's direction. There were loads of pictures taken and not one showed her chatting to Meghan or even looking at her, complete zero effort. The only ones who seemed to interact with Meghan and Archie were 1 year old Prince Louis and Harry when he finished the game! Kate is obviously not as sweet or friendly as she'd like the public to believe. Meghan gets so much criticism but she comes across as more down to earth and genuine.

Kate was wearing sunnies too. Was she ‘hiding behind them’ or do they not count because she didn’t buy them in Hollywood? Confused

LaurieMarlow · 11/07/2019 17:03

If they hate being ‘working royals’

They don’t appear to hate that. They do lots of engagements and come across as enthusiastic while doing them.

CallaLilli · 11/07/2019 17:04

Fair enough @PeachBlack but the money came out of the Sovereign Grant so direct your ire at the entire Royal Family, not just Meghan! William and Kate apparently spent twice as much on their properties but that seems to have been forgotten.

LaurieMarlow · 11/07/2019 17:06

The Cambridge’s spent 4 million doing up their KP apartments, but I didn’t hear a peep out of people over that.

TroubleWithNargles · 11/07/2019 17:06

Press takes 100,000 photos on the day.

A handful of them are published.

Which ones are they going to pick from all of those? All the 99,990 of them that are totally ordinary and unremarkable, or the ten or so that could be interpreted as telling a 'story' and of interest to the gossips?

CallaLilli · 11/07/2019 17:07

@LaurieMarlow I'm always intrigued as to why people say Harry and Meghan hate being working royals when they do as many engagements as the Cambridges. I couldn't care less about things like keeping godparents secret - if their son is going to grow up to be a private citizen and not a royal then what's the big issue? They do the charity work, show up to cut ribbons at openings etc, which is no less or no more than what any other royal does.

Onesailwait · 11/07/2019 17:08

I think they all looked like they were having a perfectly nice day out. As for the way she was holding the baby haven't we all struggled with a wriggly baby? it, just goes to show how many pictures you can take in 30 seconds to a minute and then present them as a representation of one the whole day.

PeachBlack · 11/07/2019 17:11

Hi CallaLilli and Laura Marlow, I haven’t forgotten William and Kate’s big spends and my ire is directed at the royals as a whole. It’s just that Harry and Meghan seem to want to have their cake and eat it.
And guess what, I’m not a royalist anyway! There wouldn’t be the need for all this charidee ribbon cutting shit (which is only a social climbing tool for a lot of people anyway) if we had a fairer society.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 11/07/2019 17:13

I'd save your pity for the people who really need it.

The most cosseted, privileged family in this country do not number among them.

LaurieMarlow · 11/07/2019 17:14

They seem way more engaged and happy to be there in their walkabouts that Wills and Kate. Which stands to reason in some ways because they’re more outgoing people generally.

Lotsie · 11/07/2019 17:15

I'm truly baffled that people think they can understand a situation or relationship from paparazzi photos. Daily Mail headlines are so elaborate people seem to now think its ok to add their own narratives to totally normal looking photos. Bizarre.

Dandelion1993 · 11/07/2019 17:16

From the rumors we hear about her I'm not surprised.

Just becuase they're married to two brothers doesn't mean they have to be friends and socialise.

Pinktinker · 11/07/2019 17:20

Meh, they both looked engrossed in their own children which is fine. They also don’t have to get along, how many people come on here to complain about their SIL’s?

Lots of people are just fucking dumb and the daily mail play them like fiddles

CallaLilli · 11/07/2019 17:27

So true @LaurieMarlow. It's like the bump-holding thing. Getty Images literally have hundreds where Meghan wasn't holding her bump but the press always chose the ones where she was. Not that I could ever understand why people got so worked up about it.

ChrisPrattsFace · 11/07/2019 17:27

In the pictures I seen, she was chatting with friends and chatting with Kate... sooo just goes to show that different outlets encourage you to view and direct your opinion different ways.

I often think that about mumsnet threads. God forbid anyone do an advanced search or is sceptical.

CarolDanvers · 11/07/2019 17:30

Kate quite clearly interacting with Megan. What are you on about?

PooWillyBumBum · 11/07/2019 17:30

Poor women can’t do right for doing wrong. What a goldfish bowl. No thank you - not for all their squillions.

They’re all fine. Doubt they care what us plebeians think.

Poor woman didn't come prepared because she thought being a 'Princess' there would be posh chairs provided. There was no way she was going to sit on the grass - so she stood the whole time.

Kate, on the other hand came prepared, with her tupperware and blankets.

The thing that stood out to me was that dress is not a very handy one for a breast feeding mother to wear.

You look as good as the media wants you to - same with Camilla, Kate etc all looked miserable or bad, now happy, as they’re no longer in their sights

Ginger1982 · 11/07/2019 17:36

@TheCatThatDanced there's only a year's difference in age between Kate and Meghan or do you mean that Kate was younger when she had her first?
