JacquesHammer, I do happen to know someone who knows Meaghan Markle. She went to school with her, and, like Meaghan, works in the entertainment industry, though not as an actress. She said, from before the announcement of their engagement, that Ms Markle was a "mean girl" in high school, and describes her as a narcissist, although that term is thrown around so loosely these days that I always discount it.
She also said that she was not at all surprised Ms Markle threw her father under the bus - a father who paid for her education, used connections to get her opportunities as a young woman before she was on Suits, and who always loved her.
Personally, I don't care what she wears, how much money she spends (I'm not in the UK), how she holds her baby, or what her relationship is with the BRF. I dislike her for one reason only, and that is how she has treated her father. The first time I heard of her was when she did commercials for Reitman's, a women's brand of clothing. She obtained that contract through her then husband's connections. She had help in designing a collection of clothing for Reitman's sold under her name, which was very successful, although personally, I have never shopped there, it's very "down market".
Finally, I don't know about the UK press or public, but I don't think criticism of her is based on her race. It certainly wasn't a factor in her career.
Take that as you wish, but it's not only the UK press that holds negative views of her.
