In your opinion. Just interested.

Bad manners. Wearing too tight and/or skimpy clothing that's inappropriate.

bizmum1 · 29/07/2019 20:06

Bad grammar, eating pies in the street, glittery yellow nail varnish, badly fitting clothes e.g. cheap lycra tops on overweight women with tits hanging out, swearing constantly, wearing anything that looks like nightwear in the street, shorts that go right up the crack of your arse, loads of tattoos, smoking, slovenly behaviour e.g not getting dressed until the afternoon on a regular basis, giving your kids ridiculous made-up names.

madcatladyforever · 29/07/2019 22:42

Pish, common is one of those buns on the top of your head and massive hoop earrings.

FranKatzenjammer · 30/07/2019 00:38

People who let their dog(s) shit in public places and don't clean it up.

evilharpy · 30/07/2019 07:10

Men going around topless in public places other than beaches during hot weather.

roisinagusniamh · 30/07/2019 22:02

Hen/Stag parties.

MondeoFan · 30/07/2019 22:16

I think swearing excessively, smoking is a bit common now, how they speak (innit, like) and their vocabulary in general.
In work the other day I said something was unorthodox and everyone was saying "wow what a big word"

MondeoFan · 30/07/2019 22:25

Really enjoying this thread though

roisinagusniamh · 30/07/2019 23:23

Me too

I was reading the Aesop fable ‘The Gnat and the Bull’ recently, and it struck me why I think messed about names are common. It’s because the people doing it are engineering themselves to be something special when mostly, the truly classy people have honour conferred on them from outside and do not, generally, seek it - their passion is not for fame but whatever it was that brought them renoun.

The fable is this:

“A Gnat flew over the meadow with much buzzing for so small a creature and settled on the tip of one of the horns of a Bull. After he had rested a short time, he made ready to fly away. But before he left he begged the Bull's pardon for having used his horn for a resting place.
"You must be very glad to have me go now," he said.
"It's all the same to me," replied the Bull. "I did not even know you were there."
We are often of greater importance in our own eyes than in the eyes of our neighbour. The smaller the mind the greater the conceit.”

Chavy in my opinion is different from common. Chavy is people who don't value education, have the naff names and the hot tubs but generally quite nice.

Common the last time I came across a common person was I went into a shop. The woman was aggressive and uncouth made me feel uncomfortable. She without doubt was common. I suppose "fish wife" types!

areyoubeingserviced · 31/07/2019 02:06

Definitely eating on the streets
My mother hated this with a passion.

DanglyWhoreTassels · 01/08/2019 10:27

I don't like like red wine, only white, is this common?

TopiaryTractorTart · 01/08/2019 10:50

You're so common DT, you're one of those fish wives I'm sure.

DanglyWhoreTassels · 01/08/2019 12:14

Ye what cock? Wassat about fish knives??

We don't have fancy posh shite like that in this house I can tell ya! 🙄

NoTheresa · 01/08/2019 17:13

Fish knives are not posh, anyway.

roisinagusniamh · 01/08/2019 17:25

I agree fish knives are not 'posh' because I think posh often means upwardly mobile/aspirational with 'new' money Grin
I suppose they are used by older people from middle class backgrounds, perhaps?
I inherited some from my mother and use them on occasion.

TopiaryTractorTart · 01/08/2019 18:17

They are neither posh nor common, they are just pointless.

HairyDogsInUnusualPlaces · 01/08/2019 19:04

How do fish use knives anyway?

SlocombePooter · 01/08/2019 19:09

With their fingers.

CherryPavlova · 01/08/2019 19:14

Fishwives common; fish knives not.

DanglyWhoreTassels · 01/08/2019 19:23

Are whores common?

(asking for a friend)

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 01/08/2019 19:27

Asking questions like this one, frankly...

SlocombePooter · 01/08/2019 19:55

I've always thought having fish knives with one's own monogram is frightfully common.

Posh people never buy their own furniture, they just inherit it - the same goes for cutlery!

Dangly you are an UNcommon whore!

derxa · 01/08/2019 20:00

I've got an SUV with a bashed front bumper which we repaired by tying up with cable ties. Is that common?
