My mother used to say pierced ears on women were common Smile She finally got her pierced age 53. Think it's quite an antiquated term

Leaving your front door open whilst waiting for workmen. I didn’t know this but I was recently told this by a friend. Hmm

@Karlwho The difficultly is, if we answer truthfully, we’ll no doubt offend other MNers and you’ll get called a goady f*cker. I do think there are things that make someone appear “common”, but I think it would be quite rude of me to talk about it on here. I think this thread could get some people’s backs up so I hope you have a thick skin.

It’s a bullshit me vs them mentality that most middle class people have because they think they’re better than others

It makes me sick.

Ahhh ok, I'm not actually trying to offend anyone etc, stupidity on my part because I just meant it as a bs 'pass the time' question.
Not trying to upset anyone or cause arguments.

Agree with all of this except mopping up gravy with bread, cos that’s one of my favourite things Grin

It's the middle classes love of cocaine that is fueling gang violence in London.

Only good quality home made gravy though, bistro would be common

I have never really thought about it, but now I am, I'd say:
Spitting in the street (not during exercise)
Dropping litter
Drinking alcohol out of cans, walking down the road
Walking and eating a sandwich or something substantial (not chewing gum or mint... Like anything more than a banana etc) Grin
Habitual swearing in front of kids

And the last two only if in conjunction with any of the above (!)
Tattoos
Smoking

Are the terms common and chav interchangeable in judgy-olympics are they?!

Pulls self-imposed judgy pants wedgie out of my fat arse.

Ok I'll bite. Being inconsiderate of other people, particularly in public. Examples might include swearing loudly, being aggressive, shouting, pushing, etc. That's the single damning indication. Anything else is just window dressing!
