My mother insists I was terrified of the Chef from Sesame Street as a toddler, I would howl whenever he appeared on screen.

I was also petrified by the 2ft Bugs Bunny my brother bought me.

A few years later, it was the Gorgs from Fraggle Rock. I seem to have got over that fear though, my fella resembles a blond one slightly.

Was anybody else round here equally odd?

Every year my dad took me to the Lord Mayors Show in London. I really enjoyed it apart from one float that always appeared for the army. It had soldiers on it in camouflage with dirt on their faces, and foliage strewn around their helmets. I used to find it terrifying.

Ponoka7 · 07/07/2019 18:45

Like a lot of my generation, the original Doctor Who theme tune.

ALemonyPea · 07/07/2019 18:45

Balloons. Birthday parties with balloons all around were my worst nightmare. I'm still scared of them now, even my DC aren't allowed them in the house.

Ginger1982 · 07/07/2019 18:45

The George C Scott version of A Christmas Carol. Jacob Marley scared the shit out of me and I was always convinced he was going to come out my wardrobe. The film's got a bloody U rating too! 🤦‍♀️

What was that film called with the plant that came alive? Fucking freaked me right out when I watched it aged 7. Actually I've been afraid of the dark ever since.

Magneticred · 07/07/2019 18:46

From a toddler until about the age of 7 I was apparently scared of eggs. It's a family joke that I'd start shaking and crying when I saw them.
I have 2 dc who are scared of the vacuum cleaner and no idea why my older dc used to love riding on them when they where little.

Shockers · 07/07/2019 18:46

Flushing toilets and the space under the bed.

Houseonahill · 07/07/2019 18:46

I was a scaredy kid in general but off the top of my head

Burst balloons (because of the balloon ghost)

Waking up the zombies in the toilet when I flushed it (not sure where that came from)

Andy Pandy

RuggerHug · 07/07/2019 18:46

Also freezing to death in the sea.

flapjackfairy · 07/07/2019 18:46

Bruce bogtrotter eating that chocolate cake on Matilda.. still can't watch that scene

CornerofUpandDown · 07/07/2019 18:48

I convinced myself that the skeksis from the Dark Crystal could come out of the toilet after I flushed it. I used to run out of the loo every time I flushed! I'm surprised my parents never noticed this strange behaviour (especially since I started around six and stopped when I was 12! 😳)
