My mother insists I was terrified of the Chef from Sesame Street as a toddler, I would howl whenever he appeared on screen.

I was also petrified by the 2ft Bugs Bunny my brother bought me.

A few years later, it was the Gorgs from Fraggle Rock. I seem to have got over that fear though, my fella resembles a blond one slightly.

Was anybody else round here equally odd?

Mamaofdrama · 07/07/2019 18:53

E.T how was that even a kids film?
Still can’t look at him now! 😂

MissPollyHadADolly19 · 07/07/2019 18:53

Water going down the plug hole.
The film "the witches" the scene where they all took their fake faces off, still creeps me out!
Elmo from sesame street.

Justanotherlurker · 07/07/2019 18:53

Caterpillers and those huge furry moths.

Still squeamish about them now, no logical reason why but they will become extinct if I become god.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 07/07/2019 18:55

The weird fluorescent green juice stuff that tinned mushy peas came in, the theme music from '70's Dr Who and the daleks. Those 3 things together would've been enough to send me over the edge.

iklboo · 07/07/2019 18:55

Clowns - I had to be taken out of the circus
Porcelain dolls
Old fashioned ventriloquist dummies

Never grown out it either.

RadicalFern · 07/07/2019 18:56

Sharks in the swimming pool.

BlueMerchant · 07/07/2019 18:57

The invisible Man tv programme that was on early 80s.
Being upstairs alone.

ChipInTheSugar · 07/07/2019 18:58

The huge kitten on the side of the tower on The Goodies - absolutely bloody terrified me!

BruceTheMoose · 07/07/2019 18:58

Quicksand

Shoppingwithmother · 07/07/2019 18:59

Worzel Gummidge - crying and hiding behind the sofa type of scared.

AriadneCrete · 07/07/2019 18:59

The ‘Mind the Gap” voice on the tube.

darkriver19886 · 07/07/2019 18:59

The guy from the lost boys. (Still can't watch that film)

HarryPotterFan436 · 07/07/2019 19:01

Dumbo. I couldn’t watch it.

FrenchyQ · 07/07/2019 19:02

The stoats and weasles in Wind in the willows

Mumteedum · 07/07/2019 19:03

Morrissey! His weird dancing and gladioli thing freaked me out on top of the pops!

SRK16 · 07/07/2019 19:04

Flushing toilets
Sharks in the swimming pool
As a PP mentioned, the scene in the witches when they remove their masks
Was scared of witches that lived at the top of tall buildings/towers (or so my lovely family told me) 🙄

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 07/07/2019 19:06

The news or Crime watch theme tune.

The wheelers from Return to Oz.. In fairness they are super creepy. As well as the woman with the cut off heads.. In fact the whole film.

Hotterthanahotthing · 07/07/2019 19:06

Crossing wooden bridges,I was convinced I would catch my foot in the gaps and be stuck then the trolls could get me.
I can remember the fear and when my parents would no longer carry me over the distress.

Topseyt · 07/07/2019 19:07

Doctor Who for me. I would watch it from behind the sofa, or from out in the hall peering around the door.

My DD2 was afraid of toilets and electric hand dryers. When she was toilet training her older sister (DD1, still only about 5 herself) called through the toilet door to DD2 to be careful that she didn't fall down the toilet and get flushed away. That triggered it, and DD1 was read the riot act by me.

Spiders too. Still hate them, especially the massive house spiders.

MrsBrill · 07/07/2019 19:09

Me too for Worzel Gummidge. Also some parts of the Muppet show.

Mehmehmeh19 · 07/07/2019 19:09

Submarines absolutely petrified me. Two of my uncle we're submariners.

I have a very vague memories of going to visit one of them In Plymouth and being scared shitless I'd have to go on a submarine

Crass12 · 07/07/2019 19:10
