To feel the rage with “teacher tired” posts

Rainbowsandglitterbullshit · 28/06/2019 18:26

The season of teachers posting SM messages “no one knows tired like an end of term teacher/TA/dinner lady” is almost upon us.

I want to scream, what about the fuckers who work stupid hours all week and don’t get 6 weeks off in the summer, half term, two weeks Easter, two weeks at Christmas.

I wouldn’t be a teacher for all the tea in China but these people chose their career.

Grrr, actually don’t care if I’m BU.

Ah yes, I remember my last sojourn to a holiday camp; I thought it was quite odd that I had to learn key quotes for 15 poems, a Shakespeare play, a 19th century novel and a 20th century drama by rote, but I suspect it's because they're actually supposed to be the same as teaching.

fedup21 · 01/07/2019 14:54

And every day of parenting should be like this.

If it’s not, it’s because you’ve let the kids take over.

To feel the rage with “teacher tired” posts
hanvicteacher · 01/07/2019 14:56

So how has the day been for all you lovely fellow teachers who have such cushy jobs?

There is in a hint of sarcasm in my voice which I hope you can detect.

noonarna · 01/07/2019 15:04

Interesting correlation between lack of understanding and respect for teachers and role of education in this thread, and those ridiculous 'i only just learnt that..' threads where people reveal they thought Shakespeare was a fictional character or didn't know how to pronounce segue until they were 39.

Gth1234 · 01/07/2019 15:47

@hanvicteacher

they will be home very shortly, having done their 5 hour stint at the chalk face, pushing liberal left-wing views down their young charges, like that teacher who kicked the kid out for opining that there were only 2 genders, Sir.

Piggywaspushed · 01/07/2019 16:40

Ignore. Ignore. Ignore. One of the most unpleasant posters on MN. Ignore alert.

ScrambledToe · 01/07/2019 17:03

As a teacher I’m actually finding this thread quite amusing

managedmis · 01/07/2019 17:05

Training is one thing. The job is another.

Would you say this to a junior doctor? A social worker? A nurse? A police officer?

Thought not.
^

Well, no.

Because they never fucking MOAN on fbook and the like!

Are we starting to see a paterrn?

thought not

YourSarcasmIsDripping · 01/07/2019 17:17

My day was great Grin

floraloctopus · 01/07/2019 17:20

My day was great, I've finished for the summer.

I had a lie in, took my DCs to school, looked at houses and starting thinking about my thesis subject. Quite relaxing compared to the 60 hour weeks I have been doing.

Noble how was your day?

cherriesandoranges · 01/07/2019 17:23

One of the most heated posts on mn

CanILeavenowplease · 01/07/2019 17:23

Standard last week day here....not! Too outing to explain but was one of those once in a teaching career days !

DuckWillow · 01/07/2019 17:29

Trust me junior doctors DO moan and rightly so.

Social workers moan too as they are underfunded and overworked (much like teachers).

Police officers also moan.

The thing is that the moaning for these other jobs is spread out throughout the year unlike teachers who have to take their holidays all at the same time....so yeah you WILL see a glut of teacher tired posts at that point. I am surprised people can’t work that out as they are obviously so much harder working and brighter than teachers if their posts are to be believed.

Who’d have thought that an entire profession with holiday at the same time might all post “looking forward to a break”.

Funnily enough I have a lot of teacher friends....not seen one post of that ilk ever from them. They might say “looking forward to finishing the term” if I meet them but they tend not to post it on FB or elsewhere.

You’d almost think the OP was making this up for an article of something wouldn’t you?

Littlehouse156 · 01/07/2019 17:32

A tired dinner lady?

DuckWillow · 01/07/2019 17:32

I only ever “feel the rage” when I see posts like the OP and other dimwits agreeing with them because they “know it’s a cushy job” and
“long holidays” and “other professions work hard if not harder” etc etc.

I think I bingoed several pages ago

fedup21 · 01/07/2019 17:50

Because they never fucking MOAN on fbook and the like

Really?

cherriesandoranges · 01/07/2019 17:52

@DuckWillow teaching is certainly not a cushy job however teachers do get more holidays (fact) and have shorter "core" working hours. (Fact) That's the part that makes people have less sympathy for them - rightly or wrongly!

Piggywaspushed · 01/07/2019 18:04

As I said MANY pages ago, one of the biggest moaners on FB I know works for the police.

All her 'moans' are valid. But they massively outnumber teachers' on my feed.

My DM was a social worker. She'moaned'

My DF was a uni lecturer. OMG , all he ever DID was moan about teachers being slackers and MOAN about how hard he worked.. He has changed his view having married someone who jacked in teaching after two weeks . He has two daughters : one, a teacher and one, a police officer. My DSis is ALWAYS posting about the behaviour of others which endanger her life, or the community, and about being at 'werk' when the weather has turned nice, and all the long shifts (hmmm.... that'll be why she is always in her cottage in the mountains). All she gets is replies telling her how amazing she is and what 'great service' she does. No one tells her she is moaning to her face

Disclaimer : I value the police force and support all their concerns wholeheartedly. But, replace what they say with 'teacher' and they would be moans to PPs.

MsRabbitRocks · 01/07/2019 18:09

and have shorter "core" working hours.

Shorter core working hours means nothing though if they are never adhered to. In fact, it’s even worse that the core hours and directed time are not enough to do the basics of a job, let alone the extras that enhance the experience of the pupils. Unpaid overtime is never fair, whatever the job.

After all, for those who work shifts and do four days on four days off for example, they work half the year, or 365/2 (=182.5) days of the year. Less than a teacher. But you don’t see people scorning the police or fire service for example. And they get paid overtime as well (as they should). Especially when they moan, no one bats an eyelid on here (quite rightly too).
The perception of teaching in this country is appalling and the irony is, the constant derision of those who haven’t got a clue, actually adds to the stress!

BoneyBackJefferson · 01/07/2019 18:11

managedmis

Well, no.

Because they never fucking MOAN on fbook and the like!

They usually write books about how hard they have had it with some funny anecdotes thrown in.

So they can make money out of it.

mbosnz · 01/07/2019 18:15

Interesting correlation between lack of understanding and respect for teachers and role of education in this thread, and those ridiculous 'i only just learnt that..' threads where people reveal they thought Shakespeare was a fictional character or didn't know how to pronounce segue until they were 39.

I've often thought the same thing. And wondered about their childrens' academic level of attainment.

BoneyBackJefferson · 01/07/2019 18:16

managedmis

And lets not forget the doctor films bemoaning how hard the training is, how many hours they work as an intern/junior doctor, how they were thrown in at the deep end on their first night shifts.

FFS everybody moans about their job, and sometimes there is even a point to it.

MsRabbitRocks · 01/07/2019 18:16

X post but completely agree Piggy

ClaryFray · 01/07/2019 18:20

Hahahahahahahahahaha.

Yes we get the whole six weeks and every other holiday off laying on a sun lounger. We're often in school during the holidays.. Changing displays. Sorting the classroom for the new year's. Planning lessons. Setting up things for new class.

Get over yourself.

Piggywaspushed · 01/07/2019 18:23

boney, Adam Kay springs to mind? 250 pages of extended moan. With added misogyny and occasional humour. Grin
