To prefer a summer of rain to summer heatwave if we have to choose between the extremes?

At least we still have the bright mornings and the light nights and if I get damp it's because I haven't rainproofed myself..

I feel so low when it rains all day every day. Bring back the heatwave!

meow1989 · 19/06/2019 19:25

YANBU and I agree! Hate bloody heatwave.

Silversun83 · 19/06/2019 19:26

YANBU! That is all Grin

dreamyspires · 19/06/2019 19:26

When we get a nice prolonged sunny spell we call them heatwaves, before it was just summer. Smile

Gth1234 · 19/06/2019 19:26

I will take the sun please.

Aragog · 19/06/2019 19:27

God no. It awful! So miserable.

Wet weather and not even warm with it. Nothing you can really do with any pleasure.

I long for mid 20s - tbh at the moment low 20s would be fine - dry sunny weather. Being able to put the winter clothes away, to go out without a cardigan, let alone having to have a coat and umbrella. To wear summer canvas shoes without being soggy.

A talk to the pub for a drink in the beer garden after work, sitting around for BBQ and drinks at a weekend, picnic in the park for my lunch.....

Instead its rushing from house to car to work and back again, dodging the puddles and the rain. I work in a school and wet plays are the thing everyone dreads - cooped up children is never good, be it at school or home.

This isn't summer! I vaguely remember 2 nice days at Easter. Surely we get more than that?!?!

Shantotto · 19/06/2019 19:27

I prefer rain as I can stay dry easily but I can’t cool down!

nomushrooms · 19/06/2019 19:31

7 month old baby at home who hates the heat....never thought I’d say it (complete sun worshipper here) but if rain is what it takes to keep the temps down, then let’s go with rain!

Happy for heatwaves to return once she has a greater understanding that it is not MY fault that it’s hot...

Pa1oma · 19/06/2019 19:33

Er... no OP.

The80sweregreat · 19/06/2019 19:37

Love cool weather and I like rain.
Downside is not getting the washing dry though. That's a pain.
I can see why people like it hot but it's not for me.
I feel for flood victims though ; must be horrible. It's will be hot soon I bet! Give it a few weeks.,

Todaythiscouldbe · 19/06/2019 19:38

Yes YABU.

hazeyjane · 19/06/2019 19:41

Yes please, love the rain. Hate hot hot or even just hot.

22Giraffes · 19/06/2019 19:43

YANBU. I don't function well in heat, it's lovely if I'm sitting out in the garden but having to travel/walk/take the kids out in it is miserable for me Sad Ideally low 20's with no rain would be great but if I had to choose between rain or a heatwave I'd choose rain!

bluedoor4 · 19/06/2019 19:48

100% no. We've been stuck in the house going crazy. I don't love the heat by any means but my god I hate the depressing rain more!

CoraPirbright · 19/06/2019 19:48

Oh no!! Mid-twenties and sunny please!! The problem with having a miserable rainy summer is that there is no break - straight into a miserable rainy autumn and then the winter......just too depressing.

NannyRed · 19/06/2019 19:48

I want another heatwave. Summer doesn’t last long here in the uk. I’d rather be sat in the sunshine for the next two full months. We have plenty of rain from November to April.

managedmis · 19/06/2019 19:49

Yes I can't stick a heatwave

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 19/06/2019 19:49

Sunshine makes me feel happy, rain does not. Therefore you are being unreasonable

igotdemons · 19/06/2019 19:50

Yes OP! Summer rain all the way please, no heatwaves! ☔️

Emmapeeler · 19/06/2019 19:52

I like summer rain and can’t deal with heat. It has been a bit chilly though.

Jocasta2018 · 19/06/2019 19:59

Here in Surrey we've had bizarrely warm weather for bloody years with the occasional bit of rain/cold spell! I now water the garden regularly through autumn and winter else everything would die.
My pansies that I bought April 2018 have not stopped flowering - they looked a little bit poorly when we had a few light frosts and snow earlier this year but rallied well.
Xmas last year I was walking to my local supermarket wearing a hoodie & a T-shirt. There were bumblebees in the garden on plants that were flowering in December 2018 when they should have been flowering in March-April 2019!
I just wish the seasons would return - heavy rain, cold, frosts and snow in autumn & winter with improving weather in spring and early 20's in summer.
The world is going mad.

bumblingbovine49 · 19/06/2019 20:00

Absolutely not. I was so happy last summer. I didn't compain once about the heat. I did get a bit hot at first but acclimatised after a week or so. I am sooo miserable at the moment because of the weather. Also all of my tomatoes and veg are getting fungal diseases. Last summer I had tons of tomatoes as I.watered the pots daily. This year I have thrown away three plants already as they are too far gone. Even the lettuce is being eaten by slugs Sad

CaptainButtock · 19/06/2019 20:05

Yep..... can’t stand the heat.

And the nights start drawing in in a couple of days Yay!!!

CloserIAm2Fine · 19/06/2019 20:11

YADNBU

I much prefer rain to heatwave! My commute was unbearable last summer

SunshineSpring · 19/06/2019 20:13

The last few days have been great. Rain and sunny spells.
Without rain, there are no rainbows. I vote rain and sunny spells. Is that sitting on the fence?
