At least we still have the bright mornings and the light nights and if I get damp it's because I haven't rainproofed myself..

For all those of you in London whingeing about how hot it is there, how about you move further North to get a generally cooler climate if you don't like the heat.

Branleuse · 20/06/2019 14:31

I like the seasons. I look forward to summer all year. Yeah sometimes it gets a bit hot, but it would be depressing to get through one of our 8 month winters and then it rain all summer. I absolutely hate rain. Cant bear the feel of it, the humidity, not being able to dry clothes. And what sort of shit summer would it be that its not even hot enough for a day at the beach??

YABVVU summer is over in a flash in the UK. Suck it up and stop moaning

Oliversmumsarmy · 20/06/2019 14:31

I am in London. My heating is on. The skies are grey, it has just rained and looks like it will rain again soon.
I saw a bit of blue sky this morning peeping out from behind grey clouds and it is now just clouds

SoupDragon · 20/06/2019 14:35

I've just walked my dog in South London in jeans and a hoody and narrowly avoided being rained on.

RosaWaiting · 20/06/2019 14:36

Oliver you are in London with the heating on?

I think my hot flat, hot office, hot Tube etc has actually skewed my body temp, genuinely. Before I moved to this flat I used to feel the cold much more.

my mum will pop her heating on for an hour or so this afternoon, but she is 80 and not in good health. She is in a house that holds cold though, if that makes any sense.

Tortoiselass · 20/06/2019 14:43

I am in London. My heating is on.

Say what? It's 19 degrees in London today.

No wonder the planet is going to shit if people are having the heating on when it's 19 degrees outside! Put a jumper on fgs.

I would absolutely love to (genuinely) but I can't persuade DH to change jobs.

ExpletiveDelighted · 20/06/2019 14:46

I'm in the SE, it's cloudy but has gone muggy again, I am wearing a summer dress and am way too warm after fairly mild exertion gardening.

cavalier · 20/06/2019 14:46

Last year the heat was vile ... so if it what that hot again .. I’d have to go for the rain just so that I could function

RosaWaiting · 20/06/2019 14:48

move North? Love to. Could get a house and garden for the price of my shite flat. Can't move elderly mum though.

RosaWaiting · 20/06/2019 14:49

my sister visits the Lake District often....it's literally the dream!!

SoupDragon · 20/06/2019 14:59

It's 19 degrees in London today.

Not here in South London - it's 16. (Although it's not heating weather for me either!)

TapasForTwo · 20/06/2019 15:00

It's 16 degrees where I am, going down to 8 degrees tonight. Sat with a jumper and jacket on.

Oliversmumsarmy · 20/06/2019 15:03

Tortoiselass

I am in my coat

Oliversmumsarmy · 20/06/2019 15:05

I am riddled with arthritis and need the heat otherwise I seize up.

ExpletiveDelighted · 20/06/2019 15:10

19 here, feels very warm.

Tortoiselass · 20/06/2019 15:10

I'm in Lewisham, soupdragon. BBC says 19. Certainly feels like it to me. Didn't need a coat earlier and all my windows are open.

Oliversmumsarmy · 20/06/2019 15:37

I’m in the outer reaches of North London

User8888888 · 20/06/2019 16:13

I’m finding the weather miserable. My toddler hates not being able to get out and about (and yes to all the ‘you just need good clothes’ people she has a full set of waterproofs etc but it isn’t the same). My baby seems happy though.

My ideal would be a constant 22-24 with a bit of evening rain to freshen everything up while I’m sleeping.

Oliversmumsarmy · 20/06/2019 16:29

We have sun at last, still soaking wet everywhere though.

RottnestFerry · 20/06/2019 16:40

I prefer it a bit warmer. I agree about the overnight rain though. Ideal.

Unfinishedkitchen · 20/06/2019 17:46

.....just checked 10 day forecast and it’s 34C in London next Wednesday...then 18C on the Friday.

Huntlybyelection · 20/06/2019 17:48

Of course YABU.

Fruit crops would be decimated. And so would grass - no feed for winter for horses etc.

Summer flooding? Not fun.

SunshineSpring · 20/06/2019 18:29

@RottnestFerry anything over 40C is absolutely brutal, and not suitable for doing anything other than lying by the pool in the shade, or staying indoors. Trying to live and work in those temperatures is horrible. In fact, my kids school have a rule that if its above 38C, its indoor play.

Emmabryant123 · 20/06/2019 18:34

Highest temps I've ever been is 38c in Vietnam
Absolutely brutal 😅 but actually more bearable than the uk when it's 28c as there is air con everywhere so u get respite from it
