To prefer a summer of rain to summer heatwave if we have to choose between the extremes?

At least we still have the bright mornings and the light nights and if I get damp it's because I haven't rainproofed myself..

Where are you, I'm in London wearing shorts?

I'm in the West Country and we are typically 3-4 degrees cooler than London.
Today it's been 14.
The living room is 20 and my bedroom is a balmy 35. I like my bedroom!!

SecretWitch · 20/06/2019 18:39

I want this weather to last forever...hate bright hot sunshine. It brings on migraines and makes my boobs sweat. I love cool, wet rainy weather and lashing, wild windy weather. Roll on autumn

ColinKnocksTwoPence · 20/06/2019 18:50

Was your doggy not suffering in the heat last year colin? Where are you?

I didn't walk him during the day, only first thing and in the evening.
He also likes to lie on the stone floor in the kitchen or the tiled floor in the bathroom.
He never seems to be overly hot though as he will often follow me upstairs where it can be in the 30s.

RosaWaiting · 20/06/2019 18:56

Colin your bedroom is 35?!

TeeBee · 20/06/2019 19:02

YABU. I spent the whole of last summer working hard extending our house and completely overhauling my garden. I want to enjoy it now, not stuck indoors because of crappy rain.

User3030 · 20/06/2019 19:16

Yanbu.

ColinKnocksTwoPence · 20/06/2019 19:21

Colin your bedroom is 35?!

Yep. That apparently is the downside of loft conversions with south west facing velux windows.
Walking down the stairs you can actually feel the 15 degree temperature change.
I however love it.

I really don't feel the heat and will regularly have the electric blanket switched on at night - even with a 13 tog duvet and a fleece throw.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 20/06/2019 19:23

Yanbu I hate the heat too.

RosaWaiting · 20/06/2019 19:31

Colin, yes, I’m on a high floor. I suppose if you have a whole house it’s not so stifling. The flat only faces south west. That’s a mistake I’m never making again!

Aprilsinparis · 20/06/2019 19:55

I hate hot weather. The only good thing about it is, you can put your washing out, dried, and put away all in the same day.

SinglePringle · 20/06/2019 20:29

I’d like some boily boily HOT days interspersed with some monsoon showers / big ol’ thunder storms around 10pm.

I get the heat I adore and need, garden gets the rain and sunshine it needs.

Lovely.

thepartysover · 29/06/2019 22:27

Well. I hope the heat lovers are happy! 😫

GibbonLover · 30/06/2019 01:10

Fellow arthritic here, Oliver, and the hotter the better as far as I'm concerned. My joints are like a barometer. Cold weather hurts, humid weather makes them swell but when it's warmer weather, I'm just a bit stiff.

SoupDragon · 30/06/2019 07:20

Well. I hope the heat lovers are happy!

Yep.

Just like the heat haters are happy for probably about 85% of the year or more.

thepartysover · 30/06/2019 08:55

I don't hate the heat. Love sunshine! But I was on actual fire yesterday.

CookPassBabtridge · 30/06/2019 09:05

Enjoyed the heat yesterday and I'm nicely tanned but.. I enjoyed it knowing it was a one day thing! Back to 18-20c now for the next two weeks Smile

Ithinkmycatisevil · 30/06/2019 09:24

Heat wave all the way!

piedmontpepper · 30/06/2019 14:56

I'm happiest in weather 5 degrees or less, so here in the SE I maybe get, ooh, a week's worth of that a year?

Socksontheradiator · 30/06/2019 15:09

Today is lovely, breeze and 20 where I am. Would def go for rainy summer over heatwave if I had to make the choice.

DrCoconut · 30/06/2019 15:56

We've had enough rain to last the rest of the year. Yesterday I finally got to take my cardigan off and put my sandals on. It's so much better having light nights and dry weather to get out and do things instead of being shut up in the house. The bone chilling cold that you just can't get warm from is gone. DS2's chest is always good in summer weather and he's lots happier and more settled too, autumn and winter exacerbate his ASD. I think it's related to light and burning off energy. So YABU to begrudge us a couple of weeks or so of nice weather when it will be cold and wet and dark for months.
