Bridesmaid posted a photo of my dress on Facebook

I know I probably am but just wanted to hear others opinions on whether they would be sad about it or if I just need to get a grip!

Getting married soon and after trying on a lot of different dresses I finally found the one, something I never thought I would due to being very body conscious and anxious. Went back for final fitting at the weekend and took one of my bridesmaids as she wanted to see

After finishing the appointment and getting home I saw that she had posted a photo of me in the dress on Facebook (during the appointment so it had already been on an hour or two when I saw it) and tagged my partner in it saying she bets he couldn’t wait to marry me and how lovely my dress is. When I asked her to remove it her response was ‘it doesn’t matter if he’s seen it he’s a man so he will have forgotten what it looks like in 5 minutes time’. My dad had also seen it as well and it was going to be a surprise for him on the day too

I just don’t know what to do or how to feel! I am so gutted that it now won’t be a surprise to my partner or my dad. She knew how much that meant to me and the only thing I had asked for was that details of how I will look on the day were kept a surprise from my dad and partner. As I paid in instalments the dress is now fully paid for and I don’t have time to get another one and do all the alterations etc. Someone tell me I will stop feeling like this soon!

"...she told me to suit myself and that she no longer feels wanted at my wedding so won't be providing her bridesmaid services"

Oh well that saves you a job then.
It may have come as a bit of a shock to her to realise that her shitty behaviour had been publicised, but she couldn't seriously have thought she would get away with that nasty piece of spite, could she?!

I'm sorry you feel you've lost a friend, but someone who could do that to you wasn't that much of a real friend in the first place. Thanks

DoctorDread · 19/06/2019 01:05

Well that escalated quickly!
Yes it's only a dress at the end of the day but as pp have stated it dies seem pre-meditated and done out of spite or jealousy expressly against your wishes and it's THAT part of the situation that's the problem!

I hope she enjoys her 15 minutes of infamy!

mathanxiety · 19/06/2019 01:24

...no affair or interests in my DP as she is besotted with hers and trying desperately to fix her own relationship

Why? What did she do to him?

Oohgossip · 19/06/2019 01:44

.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 19/06/2019 02:02

Oh I know this is probably irrelevant and some will not enjoy this as much as I did, but I followed the link above and trailed through a couple of other links til I got to this one www.foxnews.com/lifestyle/feuding-brides-ruin-weddings Sorry about it being Fox News - but it did make me laugh - poetic justice!

justilou1 · 19/06/2019 02:37

You've made it in Australia today, too.... Meanwhile, at least you didn't have to sack her yourself! Problem solved!

LimeKiwi · 19/06/2019 08:05

OMG, just come back to the thread and seen it's gone viral and she's recognised herself! Oooooops!
Oh dear lol, but eek surely she must have realised how awful she was being?!
Moral of the story - don't be a knob in the age of social media, as even Australia gets to know about it Grin

hellsbellsmelons · 19/06/2019 08:20

I can't believe she didn't even apologise.
Well I'm very glad she now know's what a bitch she was.
And now you don't even have to sack her yourself.
It's a shame about the friendship but what she did was totally unforgivable.
Onwards and upwards.
Enjoy your big day OP.

sashh · 19/06/2019 09:29

Please can this go into classics. OP After your big day can we see a pic of the dress?

Poptasmagorical · 19/06/2019 10:30

It’s shocking that she’s seen this all over the media, recognised it as herself, seen the judgement of the world and still thinks she’s the one who’s been hurt. No apology, no acknowledgement that she’s done wrong, just a snippy message that reads like she was doing you a favour in being your bridesmaid in the first place!

Orchidflower1 · 19/06/2019 10:45

I suppose I should be shocked that maidzilla didn’t apologise but she’s clearly going to stretch it for all she is worth and be the victim.

livefornaps · 19/06/2019 11:04

Mental.

Peachy8 · 19/06/2019 11:10

This is awful! She is either a complete fool or a complete cow!

Hahaha88 · 19/06/2019 11:25

@Titsntats I would name change now. And hopefully you haven't posted anything private in the past as your ex bridesmaid can search your username and find all your previous posts. Be wary

MumW · 19/06/2019 17:51

She saw The Suns post on Facebook blush She sent a screenshot to me saying she assumed it was about her. Long story short she told me to suit myself and that she no longer feels wanted at my wedding so won't be providing her bridesmaid
She's not wrong about not being wanted.
I hope you replied, "too right, your services are no longer required as you've shown you don't have the prerequisites for the job. Ie: The best interests of the bride now FOTTFSOFOATFOSM, you selfish cow "

CanuckBC · 20/06/2019 05:14

The fact this story has gone so viral and is in so many media places is crazy! I am glad she let you know she has recognized herself and removed herself.

The fact she didn’t apologize shows who she really is especially after reading the Sun which is definitely against her!!!

CorBlimeyGovenor · 20/06/2019 21:49

I was like any normal bride, seeking perfection, worrying about floral arrangements and place settings and countless other details. On the actual day though, lots of little details weren't quite right, but the main things were: I showed up, my husband showed up, the vicar showed up, the guests made it and there was food and drink. I really didn't care about all the details on the actual day. I don't think that I had time to notice them all. I just had a wonderful relaxed time. And you will too. You'll be surrounded by love, friends, family and laughter.

As an aside, though I do understand where Rach is coming from. As upsetting as this is, sometimes it's helpful to get a sense of perspective. My wedding day was wonderful. But unfortunately my husband became unwell afterwards and ended up on a life support machine in a coma in intensive care for weeks. When he eventually came round he had forgotten how to do the simplest things and had to relearn how to sit up, swallow food etc. The happiest day of my life was actually, when after weeks of physio, I took him arm and we slowly walked down a long deserted hospital corridor together. That beat walking up the aisle hands down!

That's not to say that I wouldn't have been upset had my bridesmaid done that though. But I do sympathise with Rach and think that she's been given a bit of a hard time on here, when really she should be given sympathy.

Ohbehave1 · 20/06/2019 23:04

I'd do more than sack the fucking bitch....

AquaPris · 20/06/2019 23:06

Wow. I'm normally not fussy about this but she Tagged him?!?

That was not her call and is awfully bad taste. Surely she's aware that it's a no no??

storm11111 · 21/06/2019 16:12

Not that I would ever be that stupid and insensitive but if I had somehow unwittingly done that to a friend, I would be mortified that I had upset you and ruined an important moment for you. I would be apologising profusely and the pics would come straight off of FB.

This girl is a bitch. She's not your friend.

Titsntats · 21/06/2019 16:52

Just had an inbox message on here claiming to be a reporter doing an article on wedding photo etiquette and that they would love to interview me and me give advice about how I handled it etc as their readers would love to hear my perspective on it Hmm
