Been chatting to some friends about this and we came up with ones from Fatal Attraction (sink scene), Brokeback Mountain, GoT (all of them Smile) and Pretty Little Liars amongst others. What was interesting was how some favourites did nothing for others. And some were unanimously agreed to be hot as hell.

Which ones do it for you?

George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez in Out of Sight. Less is more. Most movie sex is grim

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 09/06/2019 13:24

None of them. I cringe through most sex scenes. And most are completely unnecessary, or are too long and/or explicit.

Ratonastick · 09/06/2019 13:27

My favourite is the very end of Elizabeth. The pious catholic duke shagging his mistress while the heretic Protestant queen prays. A rare example of a sex scene being integral to the plot.

Weirdpenguin · 09/06/2019 13:28

Yes to what thefreaks said.

Bluestitch · 09/06/2019 13:28

God's Own Country. The scenes were mesmerising.

Kelly McGillis and Harrison Ford in Witness. So romantic, but also heartbreaking.

thugmansion · 09/06/2019 13:29

Opening scene to Betty Blue

Cerseilannisterinthesnow · 09/06/2019 13:57

All of them with Alexander skarsgaard in in true blood 😍😍

DrPeppersPhD · 09/06/2019 14:13

There's one towards the end of the movie Dead Bodies which I think is great (involves two live healthy adults, just before anyone asks!) and also the one in American Gods (can't remember which episode), both are really beautifully shot and tasteful.

In the sense of artistic value added, Monica Bellucci's rape scene in Irreversible.

LucilleBluth · 09/06/2019 14:31

They are usually cringeworthy but there is one that sticks in my mind.....because it was a bit real/raunchy was in a film called The Kids are Alright. The film was so so but there's a sex scene between Mark Ruffalo and Jullianne More that you don't usually see such famous actors do.

I can't look at Mark Ruffalo without thinking about it.

Rape isn't sex. It's sexual violence.

The question was 'which ones do it for you?' Why would you feel the need to mention this scene?

It also infuriates me on imdb when I check parental advisory and see this classes as 'sex' when it should be 'violence' or 'frightening/distressing'.

silvercuckoo · 09/06/2019 14:44

@Wigginsy
Err... Well I totally agree, rape is violence, but also non-consensual sex - I think it is the textbook definition?
It "does it for me" in the sense that it is definitely a scene that left a lasting impression on me, up to the point of having nightmares. Or was the question only about whether I found the parties to the scene hot and desirable and fantasised later?

silvercuckoo · 09/06/2019 14:45

I agree by the way with your observation about the parental guidance classification.

CharDeeMacDennis · 09/06/2019 14:54

Dennis Quaid and Ellen Barkin in The Big Easy. I've had a thing for him ever since seeing that as an impressionable teen Blush

Well since the Op said 'hot as hell', I would still say yes the question was only about desire! Maybe I'm wrong, but of course that's why I questioned a rape scene 'doing it' for someone. That typical lexical collocation usually means you find it hot/it gets you off.

BatShite · 09/06/2019 15:03

True blood, when amnesiac Eric and Sookie finally shag.

silvercuckoo · 09/06/2019 15:05

@Wigginsy
Ah, sorry- English is my fourth language, I normally get the subtle context correctly, obviously not this time. To clarify, I don't find the Irreversible rape scene hot or arousing in any way, but it definitely "does it for me" emotionally.

Outlander- the wedding and the reckoning episodes

AuntieDolly · 09/06/2019 15:20

Pierce Brosnan & Renee Rousso in The Thomas Crown Affair. Hot or what???!!

RavenclawWriter · 09/06/2019 15:25

All the sex scenes in Sense8 are fabulous!

fedup21 · 09/06/2019 15:32

Outlander- the wedding and the reckoning episodes

Absolutely!

Megthehen · 09/06/2019 15:32

The Piano - Holly Hunter and Harvey Keitel .... so much repressed longing. The Painted Veil..Naomi Watts and Ed Norton ...same and brilliant films and novels..

WhatAGreatDay · 09/06/2019 15:32

I also like "Witness" and Harrison Ford is gorgeous in it, but they don't have sex. Don't they decide that she would have to leave the community if they had sex so they don't?

Dollywilde · 09/06/2019 15:32

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in Mr and Mrs Smith. I was a bisexual 16 year old and spent a lot of time watching that scene Wink

OldUnit · 09/06/2019 15:34

It might not be highbrow, but Ben Mitchell and Halfway in Eastenders are absolutely sizzling at the moment! Blush
