Not only being lucky enough to make the evening only invite list but then when you arrive to be served a sausage bap for your evening meal

But is the football on?

Holdthedamndoor · 01/06/2019 21:43

I would expect to fed a meal at the evening wedding party.

It's usually something small, isnt it? Not an actual meal.

Whose wedding is it? I dont really get why people get annoyed at being evening only guests unless the bride is their sister or something.

UnicornBrexit · 01/06/2019 21:45

Evening invite would be a finger buffet, although we were unfortunately faced with a hog roast once >vomit

Lemoneeza · 01/06/2019 21:46

Yabu. Everyone knows you don't get a meal at the evening do. It's just a party. You've been invited to a party. Why not enjoy it?

Sparklesocks · 01/06/2019 21:52

It’s always something light/snacky/small for the evening guests though isn’t it?

WorraLiberty · 01/06/2019 21:53

What time was stated on the invite?

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 01/06/2019 21:54

I'd have fed myself if I were an evening guest, I'd never expect a meal just a snack or buffet.

WithAllIntenseAndPurposes · 01/06/2019 21:54

It's a cousin

And a hog roast would have been very well received.
But a sausage sandwich? Please

ExplodingCarrots · 01/06/2019 21:55

I had homemade pizzas at my wedding for evening buffet ...went down very well with my guests. Most evening do's I've been to have been hog roast / bbq / big buffet. I would be unimpressed with a sausage bap tbh.

Sparklesocks · 01/06/2019 21:55

Is a hog roast that far from a sausage sandwich though? Meat between bread - not too much in it!

SilverySurfer · 01/06/2019 21:55

It's unrealistic to expect a three course meal at the evening part of a wedding. Surely you must know it's usually finger food/snacks and if necessary, eat before you go.

CruellaFeinberg · 01/06/2019 21:55

who gets a meal at the evening do? surely that's just a disco and drinks?

WorraLiberty · 01/06/2019 21:56

If it's an evening invite, why didn't you eat before you got there?

Tbh unless it was a really early time like before 6pm, I wouldn't expect them to feed me.

Cherrysoup · 01/06/2019 21:57

Evening invitations always involve buffets, ime. Shoulda ate before you went.

ExplodingCarrots · 01/06/2019 21:57

@Sparklesocks every hog roast I've had at an evening do has been served with a load of sides. Pasta salad, new potatoes , wedges, salads and coleslaw. So quite a substantial meal.

Atalune · 01/06/2019 21:58

Hog roasts are bloody grim.

Sausage bap sounds marginally better

WithAllIntenseAndPurposes · 01/06/2019 21:59

At most hog roasts I've been to there has been accompanying salads pasta etc

Not just a sausage in a bap

And I couldn't eat before as I was coming straight from work

OP posts:
lyralalala · 01/06/2019 21:59

Evening dos never include much more than a finger buffet or a hot roll

WithAllIntenseAndPurposes · 01/06/2019 21:59

But a buffet is much more substantial than one single solitary sausage bap?

OP posts:
Atalune · 01/06/2019 22:00

Best eve do was a huge mezze. With all sorts of meats, dips, olives, flat breads, pickles etc.

Sparklesocks · 01/06/2019 22:01

ExplodingCarrots i suppose. Even so, expecting to be well fed at an evening do us quite a big gamble I think.

LizzieSiddal · 01/06/2019 22:03

How rude.

herculepoirot2 · 01/06/2019 22:05

I hate evening invitations, but I’d be happy with a sausage sandwich.

Holdthedamndoor · 01/06/2019 22:05

A close cousin?

No, hog roasts ibhave seen have been a hog roast only.

Also, I used to organise weddings, even finger buffets at evening wedding parties arent designed to be a meal. I have seen how much food per head they do.

Youwanapizzame · 01/06/2019 22:08

Shut up! Every evening do over been to bar one has had a proper buffet!!

The "bar one," had a bloody bacon sandwich or cheese toasties for veggies. We were fecking starving....
