did you speak to the nursery Jazzy, I presume you have given that you know they offered DP a lift home??

did they give any explanation as to why wine was served??

coddy · 20/07/2007 18:44

you utterly miseablse sods
this is so englishad nd uptight
no alcohol at thignswere kdisds are ??
get real

stoppinattwo · 20/07/2007 18:44

did he have a drink before going to the nursery perhaps??

coddy · 20/07/2007 18:45

highly likely
cant imagine you can ever get DRUnk at a nursery do
wehave summer bbqs and stuff int eh early evenings

coddy · 20/07/2007 18:45

and speaking as someone who was in court TODAY for someone who was drunk in charge of ac hild.....

coddy · 20/07/2007 18:45

( wellnot me obv was very sober)

mylittlefreya · 20/07/2007 18:46

That's awful!!! I'd be furious - with both. Remind me never to let dp attend nursery events when dd is older without responsible adult supervision.

What are you going to do, Jazzicatz?

coddy · 20/07/2007 18:47

oh she will complain that nursery MADE Him drunk of course

greensleeves · 20/07/2007 18:48

It's not a wedding though cod, it's a nursery ffs

DoubleBluff · 20/07/2007 18:49

Is he pulling your leg?
Maybe he spent the afternoon in the pub taking DS wit him.
Feel free to ignore me I am piddled and my in laws are downstairs and I am up here escaping them. Hahaha!

stoppinattwo · 20/07/2007 18:49

it not having no alcohol where there are kids cod, its just that if her DP is incharge of getting himself home and his child he has no right to get that drunk her is now sleeping it off.

It isnt that we are uptight and english at all.

So you would be ok with your DH coming home in a drunken state with your DS in tow??

I will happily have a drink at home with friends and children around but will always make sure that others can get home safely or they stay over.

It may not be against the law, i dont know the law as well as some, but i think it is irresponsible. Who would be to blame if something had happend to Jazz'z DS??

FirenzeandZooey · 20/07/2007 18:49

Cod I didn't say no alcohol at things where kids are

I said no alcohol at an event that is FOR children

would you take a beer into a soft play place (would ruddy improve things, but still)? Would you expect a teacher to be having a glass of wine at lunchtime?

This event was presumably to celebrate the children's academic achievements? And someone thought it would be a good idea if the parents all drank while this was happening? Fab.

coddy · 20/07/2007 18:50

not necc maybe ti was a prents do

Mercy · 20/07/2007 18:50

Our school serves alcohol at its summer events - usually 4-7 is typical. But they are whole school events not just one year one offs, iyswim

Raises money for the school - but there is always plenty of food available. Barbecue, loads of international dishes etc.

coddy · 20/07/2007 18:50

i think dh would haev to drink an awful lto not to be able to walk a kid home
btu then maybe JCs dh is a boozzer

francagoestohollywood · 20/07/2007 18:51

a nursery do? gosh, didn't think nurseries did this kind of thing. I'm not agaisnt serving alcohol when children are around, but honestly I've never seen anyone getting drunk when in sole charge of a child and driving !

stoppinattwo · 20/07/2007 18:51

it was a nursery presentation, that would be for the children??

FirenzeandZooey · 20/07/2007 18:51

Jazzi is this really out of character for dp? I mean, do you think something weird has gone on here?

Dp was once very tired and stressed and got paralytic drunk on ONE can of beer. There was no explanation for it and the doctor didn't even believe us but I sat there and watched it happen.

greensleeves · 20/07/2007 18:51

I am SO not uptight and English

You can talk, you're a magistrate

FirenzeandZooey · 20/07/2007 18:52

There is no way they should have let your dp leave with ds. I can't believe they did it. I would give them a rocket up their arse jazzi.

Pan · 20/07/2007 18:53

Children and alcohol just don't mix....Schweppes much better...

No, it's absurd. Yes, we are adults...which means we should be able to enjoy a nursery do without booze....it's such an invitation to do the sort of thing this bloke has...

FirenzeandZooey · 20/07/2007 18:53

I am English and I am uptight about alcohol and I don't give a shit

this is just CRAP, it's not ok

coddy · 20/07/2007 18:53

lol i think jcs dh had stoped off elsewhre
maybe he hid hid runkeness?

what are they supposed to do?
do a huge " J'accuse" int eh nursery hallways and then strip him of his dad eppaulettes?

FirenzeandZooey · 20/07/2007 18:54

Cod, they are not legally allowed to release a child in the care of a drunk adult

you seem to think I am making this up
