£175 for this... AIBU to complain?

Went to SAKS. Never paid this much for a hair-do in my life, but really wanted a great ombre-balayage and saved up for it.

This is what I got. I'm so upset. Didn't realise it was this bad in the salon under the soft lighting in a corner of the salon with no natural light.

Spent 4 hrs (twice the amount of time she said it'd take, so she also had to tend to 2 other clients inbetween doing my hair). Came out feeling sick, dizzy and rushing off to pick DS up from MIL who needed to go out so didn't get chance to really look at it til I got home.

Can I complain now that I've left the salon?

Yes complain! I've done it a few times over the years and it's totally fine! I wouldn't worry at all. Xx

Zenith123 · 19/05/2019 20:13

Not good. Definitely complain. That's a lot of money for something that is poor service. I paid over £200 for my hair yesterday - cut, colour - the works. It looks OK, but that's a lot of dosh. I had a great hairdresser that did the same for £80.00!! But he's sold his business. Women's hairdressing is one big con!!!! But definitely complain, get them to put it right - or get your money back!!

Flowerseverywhere · 19/05/2019 20:15

The line isn’t great but you’ve got such lovely hair, it’ll be fab once it’s fixed.

Disco3000 · 19/05/2019 20:18

Reminds me of the time I went for a black and blue dye and came out patchy brown/green. I couldn't really see as it was dark by the time I left and salon wasn't well lit. Got back to flat and flatmates were like 'omg', checked mirror and was horrified. Went back next morning and complained. Said they couldn't see what was wrong with it....... Demanded refund (had to process through head office) and it cost me £250 to get it fixed elsewhere. Refused to let them try. They tried to turn it back on me but stand your ground.

Mummytoonlychild · 19/05/2019 20:27

Following interested to see how it works out

Loopey007 · 19/05/2019 20:50

Complain it’s supposed to be a reputable company I’m sure they wouldn’t like bad press

Damsel · 19/05/2019 21:00

It is beyond bad. Looks like they let a trainee loose on you. A trainee that had started the day before.

Go back, speak to the branch manager & go higher if you don’t get a satisfactory outcome. As it’s a franchise, each franchisee is required to maintain a certain standard of quality to maintain the overall brand reputation. Your cut & colour would do nothing to enhance the Saks brand!

Good luck.

FoxSquadKitten · 19/05/2019 23:03

memorial. Did you complain? Or are you posting that as an example of a good colour? It sounds like you are trying to say using a local salon is better but the picture says otherwise.

Rude 😲 I think her DD's hair looks lovely, and the puppy is super cute 😍

MissLadyM · 19/05/2019 23:09

It's a disgrace! There is an obvious line and the cut is shocking. You should be refunded, get it corrected and the stylist should be sacked!

SoupDragon · 20/05/2019 07:33

Rude

But not as rude as the smug smuggery of posting pictures and saying "oh, I only paid thruppence ha'penny for mine!"

Dillydallyalltheway · 20/05/2019 07:47

Definitely complain, explain that you didn’t notice how bad it was before you left due to the fact it had taken so long and you had to rush out and get your son because your appointment had overrun by 2 hours.

user1472482328 · 20/05/2019 09:12

You definitely need to go back and complain . Balayage should blend .
My daughter has crazy colours (pic 1) in her hair and they are always blended .

I have already explained I was not trying to be rude.

I don't think it was rude - I also thought when I saw the photo that it didn't look great. It looks like a red box dye that's growing out.

costacoffeecup

Can you post a picture of it when they've fixed it? That's dreadful. I once paid £30l0!for balayage at aveda and it was awful so I'm a bit invested in seeing you get it fixed ...
You paid £300 omg , that’s on the lines of having hair extensions not a colour

bpirockin · 20/05/2019 13:44

OMG Definitely complain - very poor on both cut and colour, that's outrageous. I've had better from the students at the local college! I haven't been able to afford it in quite a while, but the £125ish for cut and colour (I'm definitely not straightforward either) with my favourite stylist in Tunbridge Wells was always a real tonic, with drinks and lovely nibbles always on offer/included. On the plus side, you have enough hair, and the colour is lacking rather than over-done so hopefully an easy, if annoying fix, and I hope they send you away with lots of lovely goodies to compensate you for the upset and extra time taken to achieve what they were meant to do in the first place.

HairHell · 20/05/2019 14:19

Spoke to the branch manager first thing this morning.

"Yes, I can see it's not quite right" she said. Understatement of the century, but correct, it's not quite right!

I'm going back in to have it fixed tomorrow afternoon with their 'Director'. The original stylist is apparently now on holiday for two weeks so at least I don't have to worry about feeling awkward and guilty.

The branch manager has also offered me a "complimentary blow dry" on Saturday morning for the event I'm attending. Lovely gesture, but I'll see how the repair job tomorrow turns out before I decide whether to take her up on that offer.

At least they are doing effort to make up for their mistake. Well done OP!

FoxSquadKitten · 20/05/2019 14:43

Oh good, well hopefully they should do a really good job tomorrow to make up for it. Make sure you come back and show us a photo 👍

SoupDragon · 20/05/2019 14:45

Glad they're sorting it. Hopefully it will be a good result!

Bettyspants · 20/05/2019 14:49

I'd put the pictures on their FB page (if they have one) ...then the -hopefully - fixed pics. Because I'm petty .

tickingthebox · 20/05/2019 14:51

"The original stylist is apparently now on holiday for two weeks "

....I doubt you are the first complaint....

Oh God, do you think she's been sacked?? Sad

Granted, she did an awful job, and the salon manager admitted that my stylist has tendency to be "slower" than the other stylists, but I do hope she hasn't lost her job. I just hoped she'd be retrained.

The two week holiday seems convenient timing but don’t feel guilty about complaining.

I had the shittest haircut ever once but chickened out of complaining. The salon closed a few months later. I suspect a lot of people had bad experiences and never complained but never returned/were negative about the place. It didn’t surprise me one bit they closed. I did wonder though whether the owner ever knew how bad some of his stylists were.

drinkygin · 20/05/2019 20:59

Glad they’re sorting it! Following for after pics Smile
