£175 for this... AIBU to complain?

Went to SAKS. Never paid this much for a hair-do in my life, but really wanted a great ombre-balayage and saved up for it.

This is what I got. I'm so upset. Didn't realise it was this bad in the salon under the soft lighting in a corner of the salon with no natural light.

Spent 4 hrs (twice the amount of time she said it'd take, so she also had to tend to 2 other clients inbetween doing my hair). Came out feeling sick, dizzy and rushing off to pick DS up from MIL who needed to go out so didn't get chance to really look at it til I got home.

Can I complain now that I've left the salon?

OMG !

ThatCurlyGirl · 31/05/2019 21:39

Can someone with balayage just post a picture of their hair with a username similar to OP and we can all pretend we have closure? Or just a cap with BOSWELL written on it.

Now I'm over-invested in the 80s/90s pattern thread too 😂

Fucklt · 31/05/2019 21:53

This thread is crazy. The amount of posters sharing their hair success photos Shock

Imagine that on other threads -
OP: ‘I have such bad acne Sad
MN: ‘that’s a shame, look at my beautiful skin though Smile

I’m glad OP got it sorted.

hairchangenamechange · 01/06/2019 08:46

I'm glad you had your hair rectified OP but please come baaaaack with a photo 😂

HairHell · 01/06/2019 12:34

So sorry for not coming back sooner. I had an accident and did my back in. Been laid up for days. I've not had the best couple of weeks really! Grin

However, pic to follow....

As I say, it's not perfect and doesn't look much like the photos I showed the stylists, but the second stylist had her work cut out blending out the mess the first one made, and she did say it would take a couple of goes to achieve the lightness/ombre effect of the pics I showed. But it's better, and it's nowhere near as embarrassing as the first pic (imo anyway!)

The salon manager has been very nice, sympathetic and understanding. I couldnt make the blowdry they offered for the special occasion I was attending, but theyve agreed to add some credit to my account for anything else I'd like doing if I feel brave enough to go back for a third time!

Myscarfisblue · 01/06/2019 18:27

You have beautiful hair, looks gorgeous x

feelingsinister · 01/06/2019 19:17

That looks really lovely OP, so glad it's sorted amicably!

I had a very bad experience with balayage at my regular salon and the owner (who was the one who badly messed it up) was very rude and stroppy when I complained and messed it up more when angrily correcting it.

I had to go elsewhere to get it fixed for another 120 quid.

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 01/06/2019 19:37

@HairHell you are famous!!!

HairHell · 01/06/2019 21:13

Omfg, what a ludicrously boring thing for national news channels to report.

Some of the fb comments though! Grin
DH and I have had a good old giggle at those. And I do love how it's been categorised under 'Weird News' Hmm

Anyone got a link to the Sun one? DH thinks this is hilarious

I have tried to jump in your defence op on some of the comments of course they think yore rich for some reason

HairHell · 02/06/2019 10:35

Thanks @GabsAlot Halo

I have seen a few comments being shot down and I've wondered if it's the MN posse! Grin

Would love to comment myself and point out these papers have not had my permission to nick my 'story' (although, it's hardly a fucking story is it!) or my photos. But I'd out myself, and potentially the salon.

But never mind, seeing that it's not much of a story it's hardly going to go viral.

Oh my gosh your hair looks amazing in the after shot! I actually think it's been done really well and would totally go for a colour like that.

Timide · 02/06/2019 15:52

I can see a clear border here which is very weird for the type of service you requested. You have all grounds to ask to do it once again for free. Good luck and sorry that you had a bad day((

LittleGwyneth · 02/06/2019 15:55

Why is it that hairdressing threads always bring out people who need to let you know that their local hairdresser does an amazing job for 30p and in 15 seconds? £175 is a perfectly reasonable price for balyage and a cut, if they do a decent job. Clearly whoever did this was an idiot and they need to fix is & give you your money back, but you're not a mug for paying that for a hair cut - in London and the SE that's totally normal.

PuppyMonkey · 02/06/2019 16:01

Snigger, what would we all have done without Timide's handy blue circle pic pointing out the problem. Grin

RTFT etc...
