£175 for this... AIBU to complain?

Went to SAKS. Never paid this much for a hair-do in my life, but really wanted a great ombre-balayage and saved up for it.

This is what I got. I'm so upset. Didn't realise it was this bad in the salon under the soft lighting in a corner of the salon with no natural light.

Spent 4 hrs (twice the amount of time she said it'd take, so she also had to tend to 2 other clients inbetween doing my hair). Came out feeling sick, dizzy and rushing off to pick DS up from MIL who needed to go out so didn't get chance to really look at it til I got home.

Can I complain now that I've left the salon?

Wow that’s shocking! Go back ASAP!

PositiveVibez · 18/05/2019 19:30

Sorry OP, but that is shocking. It looks like they've used a ruler!

I would definitely be going back when I'd pulled myself together and was in the 'angry' stage. Just say you were too upset and embarrassed to say anything at the time.

ImNotHappyaboutitPauline · 18/05/2019 19:31

It's not good at all, sorry. And yes of course you can complain even though you've left the salon! You barely get a proper look in there, you've had time since and as your photos show it's been done badly. No manager could look at those and think there isn't a problem Hmm. I would definitely complain.

SignOnTheWindow · 18/05/2019 19:32

Yes, definitely.

Take the photos, too.

There's still time to fix it, so don't panic!

Foxmuffin · 18/05/2019 19:34

Definitely complain and don’t be fooled into thinking you get more for paying more.

myhamster · 18/05/2019 19:34

That does look bad, sorry. The line should be irregular and graduated, not obvious like yours.

The cut is bad too.

I would go back, with the photos and ask for it to be fixed.

XXVaginaAndAUterus · 18/05/2019 19:36

Definitely go back and complain. Have an idea in your head what you'd be happy with - full refund, half, just the cut and colour fixed, whatever. And Ask for what you want.

Isth · 18/05/2019 19:38

Go back right now! That’s expensive but regardless of cost, they shouldn’t have left your hair like that!

Gruzinkerbell1 · 18/05/2019 19:38

Definitely complain

lavenderlove · 18/05/2019 19:38

Yes you definitely should! I complained the next day to my hairdressers once. Like you say you can't always tell what it looks like in the salon lighting. I left saying I loved it and it was only when I got home I realised how bad it was! They fixed it for me no problem.

Youwanapizzame · 18/05/2019 19:39

I'm sorry but that's fucking dreadful. I'd complain if it cost £50 never mind what you paid!!

2toddlers · 18/05/2019 19:39

£175? That’s awful, the cut, the colour eeek. It looks like a trainee in their first week of college has done it, even then they have a trained stylist helping so I doubt you’d come out looking like this. Absolutely go back.

I’ve taken my hair back twice (different salons) I’d left the first time but I returned the next day for a full refund, it was so so bad and ruined my hair. They did argue and try to get me to agree to let them fix it, not a chance! I got the money back and went elsewhere to have it fixed. I might add I took my mum with me just in case haha, this was in my mid 20s!

Second time it happened it’d clearly gone very wrong (the stylist walked off and cried, this woman was in her mid 30s and was meant to be the “style director”, very professional). It was an expensive salon and my blonde highlights came out bright orange. It was my friend’s wedding the next day and so she offered to come into work at 7.30am to redo it so I could make it to the wedding without orange hair. She was actually a really good hairdresser, I’ve no idea how she managed to mess it up so badly.

Go back, you might feel a bit awkward at the time but it’s better than walking around with expensive bad hair! Good luck!

PuppyMonkey · 18/05/2019 19:41

Given that the line of colour is visible mostly from the back, you can go back to hairdresser and say you didn’t spot it at the time, surely?

Sarah22xx · 18/05/2019 19:41

That is not food! I'm a hairdresser. That haircut is atrocious but if you get someone good should be easy to even out. It looks like the colour hasn't even been blended in. Please please go back in and ask for your money back or for someone more experienced to fix it x

Marchitectmummy · 18/05/2019 19:41

Dreadful definitely complain.

Sexnotgender · 18/05/2019 19:41

That’s a really poor job. Definitely complain.

MarshaBradyo · 18/05/2019 19:41

Yes go back the line is terrible and the cut

brownjumper · 18/05/2019 19:41

The cut is terrible as well as the colour. Sorry OP, be brave and go back and complain

HarrietLondon · 18/05/2019 19:42

I would give them a call and ask them to fix it. This may be more public than Twitter/FB/Insta.

HairHell · 18/05/2019 19:43

don’t be fooled into thinking you get more for paying more

Point definitely proven with this, you're right. I've always lived by that mantra and rarely go overboard when spending on hair & beauty. But Ive had so many previousbad experiences with hairdressers (its taken me 18 months to pluck up the courage to go back to a hair salon after the 9revious disaster) that I wondered if I was paying too little in terms of a stylists training. I really hoped she cost as much as she did because she really knew her stuff.

@PCohle
They'd probably much rather you complained directly rather than naming and shaming them on a public forum.
Yeah, cos its so easy to identify the salon in question by the OP! Hmm

It looks like they put a bowl on your head to do it

justasking111 · 18/05/2019 19:45

This is grim, go back and get it fixed.

2toddlers · 18/05/2019 19:46

You need recommendations to find a good hairdresser. My hair disasters have only happened using random hairdressers, now I only go to places where someone I know (who has nice hair!) recommends a specific person.

PCohle · 18/05/2019 19:46

Well it's put me off going to SAKS... Hmm

longtimelurkerhelen · 18/05/2019 19:48

Could you send them a private message on FB or twitter to get the ball rolling? Send the photos too.
