£175 for this... AIBU to complain?

Went to SAKS. Never paid this much for a hair-do in my life, but really wanted a great ombre-balayage and saved up for it.

This is what I got. I'm so upset. Didn't realise it was this bad in the salon under the soft lighting in a corner of the salon with no natural light.

Spent 4 hrs (twice the amount of time she said it'd take, so she also had to tend to 2 other clients inbetween doing my hair). Came out feeling sick, dizzy and rushing off to pick DS up from MIL who needed to go out so didn't get chance to really look at it til I got home.

Can I complain now that I've left the salon?

Yes. And you should.

dementedpixie · 18/05/2019 19:22

Of course you can complain and go back to get it fixed. I had to do it with highlights once

HairHell · 18/05/2019 19:22

*felt sick and dizzy due to not eating for 4 hrs and being in a hot salon breatjing in bleach for 4 hrs... not because of distress btw!

Yes the colour hasn't been done right, how long ago did you get it done? I think you need to complain.

NotMyPuppy · 18/05/2019 19:22

No offence but I agree it doesn’t look good. The ombré line is really stark and obvious, should be far more of a gradual colour change.

Yes you can still complain!

dementedpixie · 18/05/2019 19:23

And the cut is bad too

PixiKitKat · 18/05/2019 19:23

Yes you should complain!
I'm interested to know which branch of Saks this was as I was going to get my hair done there and now I'm thinking I'll find somewhere else!

Unshriven · 18/05/2019 19:23

That does look ridiculous.

Is the pudding-bowl effect in the main photo a trick of the light? If not, I'd be complaining my head off.

ichifanny · 18/05/2019 19:23

The colour is very blocky it should be more blended I’d complain

HairHell · 18/05/2019 19:24

Even if I left the salon without saying anythjng at the time and paid in full?

Yes, definitely complain. How disappointing Sad

IceRebel · 18/05/2019 19:24

You'd be mad not to complain. Shock

The colour seems to start halfway down your head, they've done a bloody awful job.

Cactus67 · 18/05/2019 19:24

The colour job is shocking

I used to work for SAKS. Trust me, it’s just a franchise with ridiculous prices and claims

PCohle · 18/05/2019 19:25

They'd probably much rather you complained directly rather than naming and shaming them on a public forum.

icecream432 · 18/05/2019 19:25

It does not look right. My balayage has never had a line like this straight across... its supposed to blend.
Give the salon a call and explain what happened/ why you're not happy. I wouldn't be happy.

HairHell · 18/05/2019 19:25

Bluntness100 how long ago did you get it done?

Today, in preparation for a special event next weekend. I'm gutted.

Yes you have every right to go back afterwards to complain

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 18/05/2019 19:25

Yes you can absolutely go back and complain.

PourquoiPas · 18/05/2019 19:25

Oh dear OP. The good news it that the colouring is actually great, it’s the line that’s the issue so that can be easily fixed. Ditto the cut can be easily fixed.

And as it’s a big brand they will fall over themselves to fix it to look fantastic, and probably refund you some/all of the original cost depending on how well you strike the cross yet disappointed balance to get the manager onside.

You will end up with fantastic hair... but yes, definitely not £175 worth of quality hairdressing there.

Coffeetablejunk · 18/05/2019 19:25

I would totally complain. In fact I would probably complain even if you had spent half of what you had. In my experience going back to the salon and telling them you’re not happy the stylist will try to do everything to make it better.

madcatladyforever · 18/05/2019 19:26

Disgraceful yes definitely complain. My mobile hairdresser does a better cut than that for £12.50.

Bluntness100 · 18/05/2019 19:26

Of course you you should complain even though yiu didn't say anything st the time. Explain you couldn't see it in the light.

PiratePetespajamas · 18/05/2019 19:27

Yes, leaving and having paid is fine - sometimes it’s hard to appreciate the job until later. I’ve definitely gone back to complain/get it done again/differently, both with cut and colour. But go soon.

HairHell · 18/05/2019 19:28

They'd probably much rather you complained directly rather than naming and shaming them on a public forum.

I've not named the branch or the stylist, nor myself. I'm simply asking if I have a legal right to complain now I've left the salon, and to gather opinions on whether it's as bad as I think. It's not like I've gone on a massive rant on FB / Twitter / Insta.

It’s not great, is it? I’d go back and be disappointed and upset rather than cross.
