...to not like Summer?

Dollygirl2008 · 18/04/2019 11:59

Just that really. I feel fat so the thought of having to ditch the oversized jumpers and boots makes me shudder. It's too bright, I've permanently got my sunnies on and everyone makes me feel like I should be "loving it"!!! I'm more of a cosy, candles and fairy lights type person and I literally feel down when the clocks change for Summer time!

My favourite time of year is Halloween as it's the run up to Christmas which I just love! Dark nights and cosy fires!!!!!

Help me enjoy the summer months - maybe I should just lose some weight??

Are you my long lost sister?! I HATE summer and autumn is my favourite time of year. I feel fat, red and sweaty, even when I was eight stone and permanently grimy. If the temperature gets over 24 degrees I turn into the hulk! I actually moved to Scotland for the cooler temperatures.

BelulahBlanca · 18/04/2019 12:04

I find Summer worse than the winter months when it comes to the pressure of being out and doings things to post on social media and FoMo

HeartShapedBox · 18/04/2019 12:05

Nah, I hate summer too, hot, too bright, a million and one insects, pressure to be outside "doing something " cos it's a "beautiful day" , urrgh, hell no! As an adult, I've ranged from a size 12 to a 24 and I've hated it just as much when I was slimmer. I agree Autumn is the best season.

Redshoeblueshoe · 18/04/2019 12:06

Hello my people
I've had hayfever since February. I love gardening, but I struggle to stay outside for any length of time.
Roll on autumn

cakeandchampagne · 18/04/2019 12:07

Summer evenings are very good for candles & fairy lights. Please try to find/buy a few summer clothes you like, no matter what size you are.

Home77 · 18/04/2019 12:07

It used to be OK in Scotland but in more southern areas of UK can be too hot and stuffy. Last summer was awful I hope we don't have that really long heatwave again. In the city is can be horrible, I agree.

KateyKube · 18/04/2019 12:11

I hate summer. All of my annoying selfish neighbours come outside and bother me instead of just being annoying and selfish in the privacy of their own homes. Blasting music, screaming, peering over the fence, putting the bbq on when my washing is out, sitting in their stupid hot tub which is as far from their house as possible but right next to my fence (thanks for that). I prefer the winter when they all stay indoors and I can’t hear their racket.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 18/04/2019 12:12

YABU everyone is happier in nicer weather, you can do things in the evenings, the gas bill is lower :)

ItsAllGone19 · 18/04/2019 12:14

Another vote for hating summer. The only thing I like is lighter mornings. The rest of it can sod off. Autumn is officially the best season.

ItsAllGone19 · 18/04/2019 12:17

everyone is happier in nicer weather

Not everyone!

Chickychoccyegg · 18/04/2019 12:17

definitely unreasonable Grin summer is the best!

Persimmonn · 18/04/2019 12:17

Aah blast you!

Just because it’s warm the next few days! We don’t even get a summer here. It’s a couple of warm days. You get more cold time than warm time. Go away!

PinkGlitter123 · 18/04/2019 12:21

I hate it. Sleeping in it is horrible, constant sweaty feeling, working in it is horrible, neighbours are constantly noisy and irritating, hayfever, headaches from the heat and I don't like summer clothes. Last year's relentless heat was horrible and I feel it will be more of the same if not worse this year 😐

nelsonmuntzslingshot · 18/04/2019 12:23

I'm exactly the same at you OP. I don't have any helpful advice but just wanted to commiserate and moan with you. I also have to commute into London and Summer is hell for that!! And I hate that London thing of "oh the sun is out lets all go to a park!" No thanks - I fucking hate the great outdoors when it's over 25 degrees!

TulipFever · 18/04/2019 12:23

Loads of people hate it. Last summer's prolonged heat was miserable.

badlydrawnperson · 18/04/2019 12:24

YANBU OP summer is want.

badlydrawnperson · 18/04/2019 12:24

wank.

Dollygirl2008 · 18/04/2019 12:37

literally crying at some of these responses!!!!!!!

You do have a point about the heating bill though.......!

Also as a mother of an active toddler, Summer means we can use the park to the max- less soft play trips and desperately thinking of activities that cost

MadisonAvenue · 18/04/2019 12:45

YANBU? I hate Summer, last year was horrible.

I'm really suffering with hayfever today too, which is so much earlier in the year than normal. I can usually control it well with antihistamine and a nasal spray but they're not touching it today. I haven't had it this bad for years.

Laiste · 18/04/2019 12:46

I hate mud, i hate wind, i hate rain and i hate being cold.

I hate having to put loads of clothes on me and the DCs before i can step out the door and i hate the car and the house getting mucky foot prints in it.

I hate having to use the dryer for all the washing because nothing dries hanging over a wet lawn.

I hate having to get up in the pitch bloody dark and i hate the feeling that the world has stopped by 4.30 in the evening when it gets dark.

I hate the fact our bunnies or piggies can't go out for a roam on the lawn for weeks at a time.

I detest winter.

MadisonAvenue · 18/04/2019 12:46

Not sure why I'm questioning whether YANBU.

AnnieMay100 · 18/04/2019 12:46

I’m exactly the same as you OP hate the heat always hot and sweaty and the sun gives me a permanent headache autum is my favourite time of year

RosaWaiting · 18/04/2019 12:53

I don't think weight is the issue

I find where I live is a big factor. London is hell in the summer generally.

I live in a small block of flats that has been insanely insulated and has no way to fit air con. The windows are wide open to the sound of screaming kids outside, the temp is still 22c already.

before this, I lived in the kind of place that was really hard to heat, but last summer I wished I was back there!

I am so wanting a cool summer.

missmouse101 · 18/04/2019 12:53

I'm the same! Sooooo uncomfortable once it goes over 21 degrees. Hate not being able to leave fruit or shopping in the car, hate the way you're perceived as weird if you don't enjoy it, hate the flickering brightness whilst driving, hate being sweaty. I look hideous in summer clothes. I only like it for drying the washing!
