...to not like Summer?

Just that really. I feel fat so the thought of having to ditch the oversized jumpers and boots makes me shudder. It's too bright, I've permanently got my sunnies on and everyone makes me feel like I should be "loving it"!!! I'm more of a cosy, candles and fairy lights type person and I literally feel down when the clocks change for Summer time!

My favourite time of year is Halloween as it's the run up to Christmas which I just love! Dark nights and cosy fires!!!!!

Help me enjoy the summer months - maybe I should just lose some weight??

Hate it too. People think I'm mad and just a whinger when it's baking hot. Last year in the U.K. it was too much , I just felt miserable.
Am not thin , so I like covering up which them makes me even hotter.

DeadWife · 18/04/2019 12:59

If you live in the UK there's hardly any summer weather to complain about so sorry but YABVU.

If we're being specific I love a summer lasting into Autumn gradually turning into an Indian summer - perfect.

Home77 · 18/04/2019 13:00

I hate the school run in July also..it seems to go on forever that term. I'm used to Scotland where they get off earlier, and then go back in August. Then it rains when we break up... (Aug can be a wet month at times)

RosaWaiting · 18/04/2019 13:00

Laiste "I hate having to get up in the pitch bloody dark and i hate the feeling that the world has stopped by 4.30 in the evening when it gets dark. I hate the fact our bunnies or piggies can't go out for a roam on the lawn for weeks at a time."

great example of the "where you live" thing. I can't imagine the world stopping at 4.30, in fact London in summer feels like the world is 25/7 instead of 24/7!

if I lived somewhere rural I bet I'd love it.

PinkiOcelot · 18/04/2019 13:00

YABVU. We get more shit weather than nice weather so hardly much to complain about.

Babuchak · 18/04/2019 13:02

I love it, I love the light, I have more energy, I feel happy, we have time to do so much. I love summer clothes, can wear long floaty things to hide any lumps and bumps.

Dark, grey damp weather makes me miserable and depressed, everyone is always looking so down and sad. I try to keep mainly evergreens in my garden, but it still looks pretty dead in the cold month, it's now full of flowers, it's gorgeous - and I don't spend time gardening at all because I hate that.

Last year was gorgeous, you could close the shutters and stay in the shade but without feeling like you were locked in a cave, windows are opened, fresh air, house is drying. I hope for a repeat this year.

DeadWife · 18/04/2019 13:07

Rosa some of my favourite memories growing up,in London were in hot Summer, living opposite a park, bike rides, Notting Hill carnival came down our road in August. Fairs, funfairs etc.

noworklifebalance · 18/04/2019 13:09

I came onto AIBU to start the exact same thread!
Hate having to have painted toes, smooth heels, hair-free arms and legs, the right bra for my tops.
Then there's right sunshine that shows off my flaws, face turning into an oil slick etc.

Clearly most of this is social pressure, which I don't HAVE to conform to but if I didn't do at least some of the above then I'd feel worse and not liberated in any way.

Goodenough06 · 18/04/2019 13:13

Oh my god noworklifebalance...finding the right bra for the summery clothes you have stupidly bought. I HATE this! And I hate it even more being 7 months pregnant. And the cankles in the heat.

Babuchak · 18/04/2019 13:50

I am not really sure why you need a decent bra in summer time only?

Crunchymum · 18/04/2019 13:58

I'm fat and I have noticeable psoriasis all over my body. Loathe summer.

RosaWaiting · 18/04/2019 14:02

right on cue - a circular saw is now chopping up the pavement outside.

SileneOliveira · 18/04/2019 14:07

Well I am REJOICING that winter is over.

My mood slides so much in autumn when it starts getting darker. This year I ended up on antidepressants things were so gloomy - both outside and inside my head.

Summer is bright, light, sunshine, outside. Dark and cold is not fun. And it's made worse by people wittering on about "hygge" and "cosy" and "Chrimbo with the famalam".

DuffBeer · 18/04/2019 14:08

YABU! Summer is glorious. Warm, light nights, shorts and flip flops, spending lots of time outdoors. Doors and windows open at home......I could go on!

Personally I hate winter, the dark dreary weather just depresses me. Plus trying to entertain small children with months of soft play is hideous.

Bungalowbeth · 18/04/2019 14:11

Totally agree, all the “Cosy” bollocks talking people can STFU as we have just had a good six months of it! All the bleating over last summer’s heatwave (which lasted a few mere weeks!) is hilarious. Enjoy being miserable! I’m out for some wine in the sun tomorrow 😎😎😎😎

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 18/04/2019 14:12

Summer is shit.

CaptainButtock · 18/04/2019 14:14

Yep count me in. Anything over 22 degrees and I’m a sweaty, itchy, frizzy haired uncomfortable grouch.
And then there’s the screeching children/music blaring and general selfishness of the neighbours.
Oh and your skin ageing a year for every ten mins you’re out or whatever it is.... Baaaaah hate it 😡

Bluntness100 · 18/04/2019 14:17

God I love summer. I hate winter. Summer time, the garden full of pretty colourful flowers, wearing light clothes and sandals. Waking up to bright sunshine, sitting in the garden till late with a glass of wine and friends or my husband or daughter . Having the windows open and a fresh breeze coming through thr house that doesn't freeze your arse off. BBQs and eating outside. Having my morning coffee on the patio. Not having to keep the heating on constantly so I don't freeze. Not having to wrap up like a snowman when I go out, and still getting bloody cold and wet.

Having parties with friends, lots of music, nice food, dancing on the grass. I adore summer.

CupcakeDrama · 18/04/2019 14:17

I hate summer! always have done. Every year I dread it. I love autumn/winter but cant stand summer. I think my weight plays some part as I have been over weight for a while now (since having my little girl) but now ive lost over 3 stone I am feeling alot better about the summer (last year I spent all summer with a cardigan on no matter how hot it was as Icouldnt bare to show my huge arms Sad ) I am feeling better about it since losing weight but I still hate it! I wasnt happy when I heard they were going to stop the clocks going back either as I love it when it gets dark at 4pm in the winter.

MaMisled · 18/04/2019 14:19

I've dreaded 51 summers ( thereabouts!) but I lost weight and last summer and this summer are met with excitement! No sweating stickiness and loads of lovely clothes to wear!

missteddy · 18/04/2019 14:19

I love the run up to Christmas and being cosy but the rest of winter makes me feel very depressed so I definitely prefer the summer! My favourite is spring though! Spring is the best 💐

EmeraldShamrock · 18/04/2019 14:20

I don't think weight is the issue
I think it plays a big part in summer dread for lots, that and screaming kids. Big is beautiful there are lots of flowy outfits, get out and enjoy it.
IME it is my larger friends who dread the summer months.

noworklifebalance · 18/04/2019 14:24

I am not really sure why you need a decent bra in summer time only?

Not sure if this was in reference to my post but I didn't say that.
I said the right bra for my tops i.e. straps, patterns, lace not showing etc. Whereas in winter it will be covered by layers of clothing.

NightOwlStacey · 18/04/2019 14:24

I'm slim and I don't like it. I love September as I see it as the start of a lovely long, dark, cold winter! I'd much rather be inside in front of a log fire watching a DVD than out "making the most of the weather". I don't like summer clothing either.
