Many of my friends and acquaintances seem to think so. I still think it's unlikely.

OP posts:

Beexiteers are bickering over hard, soft and Teresa’s deal. But they still like to blame it on Remainers
Yup.

ChavvyOldBrexiteer · 10/04/2019 19:47

EU elections use the PR voting system @soda so every vote counts.
Many disaffected voters on the left and right, fed up that democracy is being denied, just waiting to be mopped up.

YemenRoadYemen · 10/04/2019 19:49

JRM and BJ are not part of the establishment?

The Prime Minister and the leader of the opposition both want us to leave but leave is fighting the establishment?

Leavers (or worms) are thwarted by their own incompetence. No-one else's.

SodaPoppins · 10/04/2019 19:50

@ChavvyOldBrexiteer

I tried googling. At the moment the Brexit Party's share, in opinion polling, is about the same as the Green party's.

I wouldn't be surprised to see their numbers grow, but to say they are 'surging ahead in the polls' currently is a bit of a stretch to say the least.

They're definitely bad news for the Conservatives though (which is where the bulk of their voters seem to be defecting from). Great news for Corbyn though.

Yes my apologies, I've only really been thinking in terms of the next GE.

starfish2020 · 10/04/2019 19:55

Chavvy I didn’t say mine is more important than yours

I’d be interested to know what your bigger picture is and how is it benefiting the country to actually leave?!
Other than the capitalist that seem to be hanging on to paying lower taxes on their business (this a heard from a few people with own companies, and how it will benefit their business)
What about the average Joe?

BlueSlipperSocks · 10/04/2019 20:00

A spade is a spade
It’s the reality of the situation
Original or not

Go on @starfish. Please tell us all why you voted to remain....apart from making sure your benefits remain intact and "We are doing alright" - under the EU dictatorship. What catastrophe do you think would happen if we left the EU? Which we won't. The EU dictatorship has seen to that.

I'm hoping TM will have no choice than to leave this week...and Boris, JRM, Gove or Leadsome will take over before A50 Is revoked. Just so that remainers with their sound bites like "Leavers didn't know what they voted for" can shove their annoying sound bites where the sun don't shine!

I couldn't give a rats arse whether we leave or remain. The decision is not mine to make! As important as you think you are it's not your decision either Grin

Windowsareforcheaters · 10/04/2019 20:01

EU elections use a form of PR called the D'Hondt system.

It is much more likely to reflect voter preference.

Windowsareforcheaters · 10/04/2019 20:04

The EU dictatorship has seen to that

How exactly is it a dictatorship?

The European Parliament is elected.
The Council of Ministers is elected.
The Commissioners are appointed in a very similar way to way the US cabinet is appointed. They are interviewed and overseen by the European Parliament.

This is a democratic system, with democratic checks and balances.

It is absolutely not a dictatorship. Don't be silly.

Lifeover · 10/04/2019 20:05

I’ve asked remainers on two separate threads for a discussion on the EFEU, ie what we have voted to leave. I’m perplexed as why no one has responded I thought it was leavers who didn’t have a clue what they were voting for and needed telling by remainers!

Lifeover · 10/04/2019 20:05

Sorry TFEU doh!

DanielRicciardosSmile · 10/04/2019 20:10

it won't be quiet

Poor choice of word on my part, I apologise. What I meant was, they won't hold a second referendum or even much debate on the matter, it'll just be revoked and presented as fait accompli.

starfish2020 · 10/04/2019 20:12

BlueSlipperSocks

Seriously?!
Wow yes I voted to stay because I want to make sure I get my benefits and to live in dictatiorship
Yep you got it in one 🙄
I haven’t even stated if I voted or which way
But you seem to have some sort of telepathic power clearly so you know 😜

Windowsareforcheaters · 10/04/2019 20:12

Lifeover I'm not sure what you want to debate about EFEU?

Lifeover · 10/04/2019 20:16

Window if you pop back over to the other thread we were also both on you’ll see a list of points I’d like a remainers perspective on. Thanks for responding

starfish2020 · 10/04/2019 20:17

Lifeover
As someone who works in EU I do find the freedom of movement beneficial and well as many other things that are bound to be changing
Yes I am familiar with the treaty but I find you use of acronyms a bit 🧐 because you think that people don’t know what it is

Why don’t you explain it to us please as I am clearly not as smart as you

BlueSlipperSocks · 10/04/2019 20:19

Starfish...because it's not at all obvious what you voted for...oh no! Do you assume everyone is thick? Or did you not know what you voted for? Because everyone else did.

starfish2020 · 10/04/2019 20:21

BlueSlipperSocks

Playground is that way 👉

BlueSlipperSocks · 10/04/2019 20:22

Windows. Go and read (or watch if reading I too difficult) some real news, instead of concentrating on MN Remainer sound bites. Then you may glean some perspective on the EU and Brexit.

BlueSlipperSocks · 10/04/2019 20:23

Playground is that way

I guess you are unable to answer questions put to you then. Never mind... I guess that was obvious.

starfish2020 · 10/04/2019 20:26

No I just find you very childish there is no point in even trying

Flaxmeadow · 10/04/2019 20:27

There won't be a second referendum because we haven't left the EU yet. If one were called now, without the first one being implemented, then how could a second be implemented? It would be a waste of time and unfair

starfish2020 · 10/04/2019 20:28

BlueSlipperSocks

Real news? If you think that British tv is showing you the real news than you really are deluded.
Try watching European news for some clarity and truth of you really are interested

Morticiaismymumgoal · 10/04/2019 20:29

What if there were a second vote that just asked revoke or do not revoke and do not revoke won? Lots of posters on here didn't want to leave, are appalled at the shitshow and now think asking again is a good option. But this isn't a very broad website, most are middle class, left leaning women. You only have to read the Daily Mail and look at the comments, or look at some of the stuff the likes of Tommy Robinson's supporters are spouting on SM to see that there are others who think differently. Even that No Deal is a great idea! It wasn't expected that Leave would win last time so what if it happened again? (Theoretically of course, I don't think there will be a Revoke yay or nay vote.)

Windowsareforcheaters · 10/04/2019 20:29

BlueSlipperSocks

Thanks for that contribution to the debate. My point was if you want to debate something you usually start with a point of view or a perspective for someone to respond to, but I'm sure you know that.

Lifeover I did respond on the previous thread. You asked if we felt we would be able to change the EU and I said no, not anymore. Any hope we had of influencing future plans have gone. We could have worked with the more Euro sceptic countries within the EU, like the Danes and the Poles and built an alliance. We could have built alliances and influenced others.

TBH we are fucked now, our credibility is shot. Countries who might have supported us are distancing themselves.

If we leave we are in a mess, if we remain our influence is gone.

Leavers and Remainers may end up stuck in a version of the EU neither of us wanted.
