Do you think there will be a 2nd referendum?

Many of my friends and acquaintances seem to think so. I still think it's unlikely.

No. I think they'll take a long extension (12-18 months), still come to no agreement on a deal and end up quietly revoking article 50.

Wishful thinking perhaps, but very unlikely.
If there's any sign of article 50 being revoked the shit will really hit the fan IMHO.
And it won't be quiet.

ginghambox · 10/04/2019 18:48

In all honestly most people who voted leave didn’t have a clue what they were voting for.
You spoke to every one of them did you?

HairyToity · 10/04/2019 18:51

I would love a second referendum. I think we need an are you sure vote. I know people who voted leave and would now vote differently.

I'm doubtful it will happen.

starfish2020 · 10/04/2019 18:51

I said most not ALL
And I didn’t have to talk to them as the lies became apparent as time went on.

Oh well thread of noisy protest is definitely a good reason to not end a process that is obviously a shit show.

Realistically there won’t be any sort of unrest at all.

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 10/04/2019 18:52

I thinks it’s inevitable.

Yes leave won but no one knew what kind of Brexit was actually “won”

One thing was for sure there was no talk of no deal during the campaign for Leave. There was only talk of how easy it would be to get a deal and how “we hold all the cards” Hmm

Confirmatory referendum seems sensible.

Bluntness100 · 10/04/2019 18:54

I don't think we should have one, but I think it's wholly possible in up to a years time, depending on what deal is agreed and who the prime minister is.

What will happen when we move into thr extension period is really not foreseeable, and anyone who takes a crack at it is nuts.

HairyToity · 10/04/2019 18:54

Oh please let there be a confirmatory referendum, with stay in Europe an option.

starfish2020 · 10/04/2019 18:55

Exactly

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 10/04/2019 18:56

I don't see the problem with a 2nd ref? The country should have the opportunity to change its mind on something as huge as this. That is democracy.

Plus it would be so interesting to see which way the country goes!!!

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 10/04/2019 18:56

This!

Notreallyhappy · 10/04/2019 18:57

If there is, can we get another general election as well ????That didn't go my way... let's try best of 3🙄

Fiveredbricks · 10/04/2019 18:58

No, I think we're going to quietly go crashing out of this shitshow on Friday - like a pissed
up 15yr old out the back exit of a nightclub in 1993.

Blah...blah...blah...Couldn't you have found something original to say? 🙄

No. I don't think there will be a second referendum. I think A50 will be revoked and the majority of UK voters, who bothered to vote, will revolt. The problem is who do we vote for once the Tories are kicked out? JC and his bunch of loonies? Not in a million years... Who else is there worthy of a vote in the Tory party, once TM has gone? Nobody!

This country is fucked up good and proper.

Carlamity · 10/04/2019 19:01

Had a staggering conversation with ex MIL today, who used to be a member of UKIP and totally Brexit. She said she had had no idea 'as an ordinary person' how well businesses currently trade with the EU! So I asked her if she had changed her mind and would now vote differently and she said she no longer cared Confused!

Agh, not sure another referendum would have any different result and could well tear the country apart.

@starfish2020 no lovely, they're laughing at us because of people like you causing the shitshow in parliament. We could have gone out proudly with our heads held high and set a bold example for the other countries that do also want out...

Instead, we look like a bunch of drunk nuns at a carboot sale fighting over a 50p knockoff Fabergé.

JacquesHammer · 10/04/2019 19:03

I love that Brexiteers loathe the idea of putting putting something this monumental to the people, and argue it's 'undemocratic'. Grin

I'd love to know how that was ever going to be possible?!

Oh - did you see a plan when you voted to Leave....? 🔮

She clearly knew something all of us missed 😂

Lifeover · 10/04/2019 19:11

@starfish2020 I’m so glad to come across someone else who knows what they have voted for. I’m a leaver but I’d love a good discussion about the qmv in the TFEU, the direction the aforementioned treaty is taking the EU and any ECJ decisions you think are relevant to the UKs future relationship with the EU
