You have to: Have big house in the country
Work, both of you, all the hours you can to afford this.
Drive everywhere
Get a cleaner

If you have e.g. a flat, in the town, that is not a 'proper home'
If you don't work all the hours you can, you are lazy
Ditto for driving.

This thread has made me really sad. It isn't the MN I recognise or love.

Nearly47 · 04/04/2019 18:24

I think as with most forums issues will polarise / attract certain people to respond. I think there is a good mix of working mums and stay at home mums. People that range from cleaning obsessive to slobs. Depending on what and how you post you get certain people to respond therefore different responses.

Really?!

This is exactly the Mumsnet I recognise and love! Grin

Brilliantly perceptive posts DrogosNextWife. In fact a lot of the posts have made me chuckle Smile

onefootinthegrave · 04/04/2019 18:29

Your favourite expression to a poster you don't like must be

'Well aren't you a peach?'

Your favourite patronizing expression to someone you think is beneath you is

'That way to netmums, hun'

And if a rational poster has tried to debate but comes to the conclusion that you can't reason with stupid and gives up, you must accuse them of flouncing (not banging their heads against a brick wall)

Purplecatshopaholic · 04/04/2019 18:30

I have had a great time reading this - some of these are hilarious

zsazsajuju · 04/04/2019 18:32

Teachers are the hardest working people in the world ever. They don’t get any holidays and are always right.

Also you’re stupid if you don’t get married as it “protects” you.

Simonfromharlow · 04/04/2019 18:33

Use the word utterly all the time. I've never heard anyone say it in real life

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 04/04/2019 18:36

If you don't shower at least twice a day, then people within a 5 mile radius can smell you and you stink.

SuspiciouslyMinded · 04/04/2019 18:38

If your husband or partner is abusive to you and your children, leave the house and treat yourself to a spa break. That will teach the bastard.

buzzbobbly · 04/04/2019 18:39

You have to loudly and repeatedly tell everyone how you have hidden the FWR boards, even though nobody gives a flying fuck.

This is not required for any other topic you aren't interested in

DistanceCall · 04/04/2019 18:40

Sounds like all the people who got replies they didn't like here have come out in force... Grin

SuspiciouslyMinded · 04/04/2019 18:40

You must be fuming about things, or even better, absolutely fuming, on a regular basis.

themueslicamel · 04/04/2019 19:01

You must be a highly educated remainer, who has to point out that anyone who voted leave is an racist, filthy, racist, bigoted, racist, uneducated racist.

pantsville · 04/04/2019 19:16

OP:
I'm after a boys name, something simple and modern sounding and not too popular.

Ralf (pronounced Ralf)
Julio
Giovanni
Sunny
Sprite
Beau

Eggburt
Joffri
Mark
Botticus
James
Alan
Juanito

MN posters have a heightened sense of smell and claim to be able to smell scented sanitary towels or fabric conditioner in the next room. Air freshener can be smelt in the next town.

LOLOL

( i recognise myself here tho hahaha )

Fluffymullet · 04/04/2019 19:18

@agentcooper I actually think I am getting a migraine from my own scented sanitary towel right this moment!! I didn't realise I was so mumsnet! Blush

KaliforniaDreamz · 04/04/2019 19:20

fluffy i sniff the packets in the supermarket. No strange looks come my way AT ALL.

Laska2Meryls · 04/04/2019 19:21

Botticus 😂😂

I am definitely calling my next cat that ! ...

Absolutepowercorrupts · 04/04/2019 19:25

Did you mean to be so rude? is the most scathing put down ever invented, especially if you tilt your head.
Everything must always trump something else, never top it
Said must be randomly inserted into any sentence

nelsonmuntzslingshot · 04/04/2019 19:25

Your’s and your partner’s jobs are unbelievably niche and you are one of only ten people in the entire universe to be qualified in it.

itsinchicago · 04/04/2019 19:29

You MUST post numerous photos of your new kitten on MN. It's the law.

All events at work, however trivial, should be reported to HR - even if you are self-employed.

If you have a garden you must either:
A. Ask for recommendations on what to plant as a tall fast-growing hedge because you need privacy from prying neighbours,
or B. Ask whether you should complain to your neighbours and insist that they cut down their tall fast-growing hedge.

vincettenoir · 04/04/2019 19:32

If you have a cleaner you are lazy and participating in modern slavery. Why would anyone want to spend their disposable income on a cleaner anyway? Cleaning is so fun and easy and takes absolutely no time at all. It is also too shameful to allow a cleaner to enter your home when it is dirty and totally undermines your femininity.
