Leave or remain, I think it’s about time this idea was taken seriously. See Petition below:

There are a lot of people who weren’t eligible to vote and would have loved to - you know, the ones who are going to spend most of their lives with this decision - shouldn’t they get a say? Or don’t they count?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 29/03/2019 17:54

Revoke. Stop wasting money on this crap. The Brexiteers had their chance and blew it.

IamtheDevilsAvocado · 29/03/2019 17:57

All those of you who say you're in favour of democracy.... We need a proper vote or revoke...

The referendum was shown to based on lies and fraud... This was NOT valid

If you want to still invoke brexit... You're not in favour of democracy... You just want brexit...

Bornfreebutinchains · 29/03/2019 17:59

I don't understand the logic behind another referendum now. In a few decades maybe. But why now?

Justheretogiveaviewfrommyworld · 29/03/2019 18:01

Alsohuman , this argument is the very reason not to hold a 2nd ref. I and many others were too young to vote in '75, we still went into the EU, it has impacted my entire adult life, withoutt me having a say, so what is so different now? There will also be young people who support not being in the EU, who may be marginally too young to vote, what about them? As a leave voter, I am not opposed to second referendum, but it should be for clarification, not only tto serve the interests of the children of remainers.

Alsohuman · 29/03/2019 18:04

Why not? You can always vote to leave again. What are you so scared of?

Bornfreebutinchains · 29/03/2019 18:04

Neither campaign was based on total truth. There's always.... exaggerated claims.

Remain side said we would be plunged into immediate doom!
The EU itself is shady and pretty chaotic.
Do people who want to remain really know what the EU is, the implications of staying ....?? Have they carefully considered all ramifications of it?

How can we possibly know. How could I trust a remain voters integrity?

I can't. You can't. We can't.

That's democracy and voting.

Justheretogiveaviewfrommyworld · 29/03/2019 18:06

Ghost, that is as petulant as the we won get over it, that leavers are accused of on here -- grow up. Unilateral revocation would fuel the anger and disenfranchisement, a 2nd ref. with the options of: Revoke, Leave (No Deal) is the only way to proceede, unless you want no deal by default?

I don't understand the logic behind another referendum now. In a few decades maybe. But why now?

Because no one in power has the balls to make a decision either way.

Bornfreebutinchains · 29/03/2019 18:09

But the descion to leave has been made.

Justheretogiveaviewfrommyworld · 29/03/2019 18:09

Also human, I'm nott scared of anytthing, in fact I'd be more tthan happy for a 2nd ref. to stop all the carping and infighting. I would have my one vote as before and use itt as I see fit, as before. No skin of my nose. I justt don't understand why these young people are deemed to be more important than those in '75.

Bluntness100 · 29/03/2019 18:11

As it was only defeated by a relatively smalll minority then I'd say yes it's a possibility, but I think there will be a leadership contest or a general election, which will take the focus off it, and be the basis of the next extension.

Bornfreebutinchains · 29/03/2019 18:12

Brexiteers have not had a chance though.

Remain parliament and speaker have done everything they can to block it. Brexiteers have hardly had a chance to get near it!

WineGummyBear · 29/03/2019 18:14

There's every reason for a second referendum.

The electorate has so much more information now.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 29/03/2019 18:15

I would rather we had a referendum on whether or not we should ignore the result of referendums.

You are not that stupid. Think for a second. Parliament, both remain and leave have fucked this up.

Why?

Because they serve themselves first.

RandomlyChosenName · 29/03/2019 18:17

But what would the question be? That is the question.

We also won't have a GE until the Tories have sorted out who is leading them

Fatasfook · 29/03/2019 18:18

We need to change the law to make any campaigning based on lies and misinformation illegal before any more referendums.

BoneyBackJefferson · 29/03/2019 18:19

RandomlyChosenName

The Eu has pretty much already said that they would give us time as long as their is a reason for it.

However long a change of leadership took, it would still be a good 12 months plus till a second referendum could take place.

Bornfreebutinchains · 29/03/2019 18:19

Really? What more information?

That euro sceptism is on rise, EU economy shrinking, the financial and social experiment is not working... and yet to solve the issues some leaders think they need to go deeper in....

BoneyBackJefferson · 29/03/2019 18:20

We need to change the law to make any campaigning based on lies and misinformation illegal before any more referendums.

this has already been tried when the political parties were sued for not keeping to their manifestos. Unsurprisingly it failed.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 29/03/2019 18:20

How would a 2nd referendum help if we have no idea who will be in charge of negotiations should the leave vote win again.?

Bornfreebutinchains · 29/03/2019 18:21

Fata agree and that includes unfounded doomsday scenarios.

BoneyBackJefferson · 29/03/2019 18:22

sweeneytoddsrazor

Look how well its gone when we knew who would be in charge of negotiating for us.
