Homophobia within the Muslim community

Please can we keep this thread calm and good natured as this is a genuine question.
I was genuinely shocked at a spokesperson for the Muslim community on GMB condemning gay people as sinful. Saying being gay is fundamentally wrong. Saying most Muslim people vehemently believe this. Is this true? Or are gay Muslims tolerated within the community? What would happen if a Muslim teenager was gay. Would the family disown them?
Genuine question. I suppose I mix in circles that are tolerant of homosexuality.
Please keep comments nice and friendly.

Never expected to be mentioned in an old thread like this. Good old peripandemic times. Grin

Anyway...
The Catholic Church doesn’t forbid homosexuality. Quite the opposite. It acknowledges it.
You must be familiar with a very different Catholic Church than what I'm used to.

Didn't the pope say not too long ago that "acting on" being gay is a sin?

Still better that his predecessor though.

Not sure what it has to do with the Muslim community.

My uncle's boyfriend is Muslim. Sadly this means that while we have met him, he has not been able to introduce my self uncle to his family - they just wouldn't accept the relationship. He is still "in the closet" with his family, despite being "out" in other settings.

It's sad.

i'm quite fascinated that homosexuality was written in the qu'uran at all!! somehow the writers of that knew all about it and some poor souls had been brave enough to come out (or got found out!)

when was the qu'uran written? how can i read the part where it forbids it?
