To think if this T shirt were the other way round, we’d never hear the end of it

Spotted by someone over 6 foot at a women’s day march.

If it said “kill all trans women” the wearer would (rightly) be arrested for inciting violence, but I have seen women defending their right to wear it because they were “driven to it”.

Like men are driven to kill women all the time.

I am aware of the existence of sub species(though whether dogs are a sub-species is debated) and that kale and broccoli are all brassica oleracea , but that does not mean that kale and broccoli are one and the same and that there are no differences. If I ask you to get me some kale or spring greens for crispy seaweed and you return with broccoli I'm going to be very disappointed. There are also some fundamental differences between dogs and wolves in physiology, and behaviour.

donquixotedelamancha · 10/03/2019 14:18

Some classify them as another species, Canis familiaris.

Not an expert on wolves but my impression is that this is the minority view. Dogs and wolves still interbreed fairly reliably to produce fertile offspring. I think grey wolves are pretty close to the common ansestor.

It's probably fair to say they are on their way from being wolves to being a separate species.

I think that's a fair description, but dogs are therefore a race/subspecies of grey wolves, in the same way that a timber wolf is.

There is a small chance I may have drifted slightly from the point of the thread-appologies to OP.

donquixotedelamancha · 10/03/2019 14:21

PickledLimes Very fair point. Let's compromise and say dogs should be able to identify as wolves (or broccoli) if they wish :-)

callmeadoctor · 10/03/2019 14:22

TERF?

PickledLimes · 10/03/2019 14:22

I really want crispy seaweed now.

buzzbobbly · 10/03/2019 14:24

@callmeadoctor TERF?

See terfisaslur.com/

Treaclesweet · 10/03/2019 14:24

You lot are fucking obsessed. Never seen people so crazed about what other people have in their pants! And you're out here calling trans women deviant! A word that, btw, really harks back to the previous gay-panic.

BrinkPink · 10/03/2019 14:24

The DERWs will not be happy!

I wonder if there are any people who identify as broccoli.

McTufty · 10/03/2019 14:25

@treaclesweet we are actually talking about a t-shirt inciting violence against women. Why aren’t you bothered about that?

Mummyoflittledragon · 10/03/2019 14:26

Vile creature. Of course it means actual violence against real women. And they don’t want to be us. They want to replace us, erase us.

ColeHawlins · 10/03/2019 14:26

I would love to know whether police were made aware, and if so, what their response was.

McTufty · 10/03/2019 14:26

And we aren’t calling TW deviant. Stop being so ridiculous and engage with what we are actually saying.

kateandme · 10/03/2019 14:27

Would someone be able to explain what it is😶I've googled and dictionaries and I'm too thick to still make sense of it.sorry if it's a word I really should know☹

Mummyoflittledragon · 10/03/2019 14:27

Treaclesweet
Are you aTRA, a handmaiden or ignorant as fuck?

ColeHawlins · 10/03/2019 14:28

It's a derogatory term directed at women.

You lot are fucking obsessed. Thought you were on about the wolves then.

Never seen people so crazed about what other people have in their pants!
Is this about a different thread? This thread is criticising incitement to violence on a T-shirt.

And you're out here calling trans women deviant!
One person used that word, but if your read their actual post they were discussing the use of the word tranny and why we shouldn't use it because of the overtones carried. They were in no way calling transwomen deviant.

I'm bemused that you see something as horrid as that T-shirt and your first thought is 'oh no, how dare women discuss that'.

JacquesHammer · 10/03/2019 14:31

I am not bothered by it. Same as I wouldn't be bothered by a t-shirt which said, kill the homophobe, or kill the nazi

Yawn

donquixotedelamancha · 10/03/2019 14:31

kateandme
Are you talking about TERF?
Trans
Exclusionary
Radical Feminst

Ie anyone and primarily women who don’t believe men saying they are women magically makes them biologically women. Ie anyone, who refuses to agree with them. They believe some women have penises.

ColeHawlins · 10/03/2019 14:31

I am not bothered by it. Same as I wouldn't be bothered by a t-shirt which said, kill the homophobe, or kill the nazi.

Rightiho. Thankfully you're not in charge. The law is.

BrinkPink · 10/03/2019 14:32

Aligning concern about (some branches of) transactivism and reference to biological fact, with historical "gay panic" is a tactic transactivists use (quite successfully sadly) to make scientific fact and women's rights seem like bigotry.

The fact is homesexuality and trans are very, very different things and the "TERF" concern about trans is not to do with bigotry, religion, tradition, or thinking people shouldn't be different, as "gay panic" was/is.

If you're gay, it's simply about preference and sexual activity. It doesn't involve claiming to belong to a category that you cannot biologically belong to, claiming to have the right to another groups's space, or doing anything irreversible and damaging to anyone's bodies. It has far less, in fact zero, impact on anyone else's self-identity, rights or physical safety.

Mummyoflittledragon · 10/03/2019 14:33

Treaclesweet
So you therefore think it would be ok to kill pretty much everyone on this thread?

JacquesHammer · 10/03/2019 14:35

TERF is a lazy insult thrown about without actually considering the points being made.
