To think if this T shirt were the other way round, we’d never hear the end of it

Spotted by someone over 6 foot at a women’s day march.

If it said “kill all trans women” the wearer would (rightly) be arrested for inciting violence, but I have seen women defending their right to wear it because they were “driven to it”.

Like men are driven to kill women all the time.

I agree. Violence against women is just accepted though, it’s normalised.

TableforJane · 10/03/2019 09:41

I agree Angry

Fiveredbricks · 10/03/2019 09:43

Funny how someone with a dick can wear this and get away with it, isn't it? 🤔

Sexnotgender · 10/03/2019 09:43

Also a T-shirt with the dictionary definition of woman makes some people feel unsafe.

I sense a double standard.

SamStephens · 10/03/2019 09:44

How disgusting

Deadposhtory · 10/03/2019 09:45

Disgraceful

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 10/03/2019 09:45

Thats dreadful

What possesses people to do things like this

There is something actually wrong with someone who thinks its ok to wear a t shirt like that

PickledLimes · 10/03/2019 09:46

YANBU but transpeople are the most important people in the world(Or so the transactivists think) and no one seems to really give a shit about women.

NeutralJanet · 10/03/2019 09:47

It would be at a Women's Day march wouldn't it. Men just can't stand something not being All About Them.

JacquesHammer · 10/03/2019 09:47

So this is alright, but a t-shirt saying “woman = adult human female” is considered unacceptable?

BabyDarlingDollfaceHoney · 10/03/2019 09:53

Also a trans person will have had their own struggles but those aren't the same struggles that a woman has faced. So trying to pull focus and cause animosity between women by wearing that shirt on a day dedicated to celebrating women's rights is all kinds of wrong.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 10/03/2019 09:55

Ridiculous. I try my hardest not to judge anyone but this bullshit just pushes women further down the chain of "shit the world cares about".

FamilyOfAliens · 10/03/2019 10:19

Didn’t quite have the courage to show his whole face, did he?

EyesAreNeverClosing · 10/03/2019 10:30

I think wearing a t shirt which states your views either way is unnecessary and a bit desperate really. If you have views you want to get across, do it in the right way where you can get your full point across and your reasons rather than a tshirt. Both this t shirt and adult human female ones would make me think the person is more bothered about having a dig at someone else than actually getting their point across. Childish really.

sackrifice · 10/03/2019 10:36

Man can say 'kill women' and that's ok.
Woman can't say 'I am a woman' without being harassed, doxxed, kicked out of pubs, meetings closed, poster ripped down, stories about razor blades made up, threatened etc.

Weird. Isn't there a word for that?

BabyDarlingDollfaceHoney · 10/03/2019 10:37

"Adult human female" vs "kill the TERF"... There's a big difference in my opinion. One is definitely more of a "dig" than the other! I don't have a problem with the adult human female t shirts (I think they get a message across and make their point quite neatly - with no need for further explanation / justification), if they said kill the trans of course it would be very different.

BigChocFrenzy · 10/03/2019 10:53

So parading with a "kill the TERF" T-shirt is legal

What next - "kill the Jew" ?

but posting online that transwoman are not women can get you a visit from the police

BabyDarlingDollfaceHoney · 10/03/2019 10:56

Yes and sorry but trans men also bloody exist you know. You don't see them kicking up all this fuss.

Alsohuman · 10/03/2019 10:56

Male privilege at its most abhorrent.

Fromage · 10/03/2019 10:56

The other way around wouldn't say "Kill all transwomen" it would say "Kill the tranny."

TERF is a slur - in my mind it's the equivalent of "tranny" which I also think is a term of vile abuse and shouldn't be used either. I rarely hear or read "tranny" because I think most people, even those who believe all transwomen are abusive, perverted, deviant men, know it to be a nasty term and no good will come of using it. I long for a day when "TERF" is thought of the same way.

I expect this post will be reported and deleted for using transphobic language, but for the record, I am discussing linguistics, not advising that we start using the T-word - that would be reducing ourselves to name calling and meanness, and would get no one anywhere.

Divgirl2 · 10/03/2019 11:02

I don't agree with the t-shirt but "kill the terf" to me would indicate they want to kill the idealism behind terfs, not the terfs themselves (otherwise it would be kill terfs). Whereas "kill all trans women" would be more of an attack on trans women (like a t-shirt that says "kill Islam" is an attack on the religion, and "kill Muslims" would be an attack on that group of people).

Still, like I said, I don't like the t-shirt.

Fromage · 10/03/2019 11:04

Then why not "Kill TERF thinking?"

TERF is a noun.

CrimpMyArse · 10/03/2019 11:10

The shirt slogan isn’t ok at all, but can we please not do calling trans women he and referring to them as men?

Call out the behaviour, great. Disagree with the T-shirt and the sentiment behind the wearing of it, yay! But not digs and jibes against trans people in general.

And it's more important than ever to recognise and acknowledge that fact because it's this BS belief that TWAW that's gotten us into this mess.
