To ask for what to feed unwanted guests?

We have a couple coming over on Sunday for lunch.

I don't want either of them here. Nor does DH.

But it's unavoidable. So it's happening. So no "just don't have them" comments please as that's a whole other drama.

Anyway. In the past (when we enjoyed their company) I've cooked various things, roasts, lasagne, buffet type bread/cheese/salad etc.

Well. They're all too much effort for me to go to for them now. Jacket potatoes maybe.

What's the easiest group meal I can throw out. That will feed us, but not make the kitchen and loads of crockery dirty please?

Maybe a big bowl of pasta and a salad?

Pasta bake out a jar

Easterbunnyiscomingsoon · 08/03/2019 23:00

Liver and onions.
They won't come back!!

MrsMoastyToasty · 08/03/2019 23:01

Portions that are too small
Something that you know that they don't like.
Something dried up and reheated.

MarthasGinYard · 08/03/2019 23:01

Yanbu to ask what to feed your unwanted guests

If you feel like a roast is too much trouble, I'd make a lasagne with some salad. So pasta and salad really.

Odd you are entertaining people you both don't like though

lavenderbluedilly · 08/03/2019 23:02

Chickpea curry. Literally a ton of chickpeas, tin of veg curry and half tin of coconut milk - chuck it in a saucepan and heat up. Serve with garlic bread or rice.

lavenderbluedilly · 08/03/2019 23:02

*tin, not ton

SaucyJack · 08/03/2019 23:03

Vegetable soup and sliced brown bread. No butter- only marge.

Singlenotsingle · 08/03/2019 23:04

Don't make anything. Buy ready made. Tesco's pasta bake is quite nice but I wouldn't waste my time prepping and cooking. It'll save on the washing up as well.

winsinbin · 08/03/2019 23:04

Pasta, salad, garlic bread. Quick and easy and nice. And a shop cheesecake. Yum.

Ciwirocks · 08/03/2019 23:04

If you have a slow cooker I would throw a chilli in that in the morning then all you need to do is add rice and maybe some tortilla chips and you are done

TinselAndKnickers · 08/03/2019 23:04

Spaghetti that is cut shorter, but not too short. Just the right length that it will never be able to twirl round the fork properly!

choppolata · 08/03/2019 23:05

I would feed them a line about not being available.

goingtotown · 08/03/2019 23:06

Chilli & Rice, With lots & lots of kidney beans to give them wind. Maybe they’ll go home sooner than expected.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 08/03/2019 23:06

Can’t you just cook a bigger portion of whatever you’d have?

randomchap · 08/03/2019 23:06

Just order pizza, get Hawaiian and they'll never come back

ChaosTrulyReigns · 08/03/2019 23:10

Just here for the "whole other drama".
Wink

Fruitbatdancer · 08/03/2019 23:10

Chilli and rice, or sausage casserole and new spuds

ToEarlyForDecorations · 08/03/2019 23:13

Serve them their least favourite food.

Look up the origin of the phrase, 'cold shoulder' and serve that.

Just buy some value ready meals and pretend you made them.

Buy some cans of chilli con carne and re-heat them. Buy some pre cooked rice, warm it up and serve that.

Get some natural yoghurt, salsa and nachos as side dishes as a nod in the direction of effort.

MaryPopppins · 08/03/2019 23:13

I didn't even consider a ready meal! That's a great idea.

I'm amusing myself thinking of all the things I could serve Blush but I'm going to maintain the higher ground and be civil.

But my civility is going to have limits and I'm not willing to go to the lengths I do for wanted guests. So I'm sure they'll notice a difference in my lunch service compared to previous visits.

They're big meat eaters. Think I'll keep it veggie.....and not do dessert.

Give them tripe, they’ll get the message

Reluctantme · 08/03/2019 23:15

Whatever it is, ensure you plate-up in the kitchen. The hight of rudeness 😜

MaryPopppins · 08/03/2019 23:16

@Reluctantme I actually think I will serve in the kitchen for the first time ever Grin that'll be great.

You need to tell us what they've done to be unwanted guests???

RedHatsDoNotSuitMe · 08/03/2019 23:19

Just remember, like serving unwanted guests, revenge is a dish best served cold!

not only posting for the back story at all

ADHMeeee · 08/03/2019 23:20

Sandwiches. Not fancy ones. Cheese and cucumber!!!
