Off Sick - being forced to come in

MyNameIsABCDE · 04/03/2019 09:29

I'm currently having the heaviest, most painful period of my life. I'm soaking through a tampon AND pad every hour or so and have vomited, feel very weak and faint.

I text my boss yesterday to let him know I was ill (didn't mention it was a period but just said I've been sick and dizzy) and to let him know I might not be in today. His reply was just that he needs me to come in. I text again first thing this morning saying I'm still not well but will try and come in later. Again he just said I need you to come in later.

I work in an office. He doesn't 'need' me there. The others in my team are in today and can cover anything urgent that needs to be done today.

AIBU to think that he should just let me have a day off sick and say hope you feel better soon?

TheDarkPassenger. Oh NO! That is so awful! You poor girl! It really does sound as if the NHS is going to the dogs. In the 1980s, (yes, I was just about a grown-up then!) my friend had seriously heavy bleeding and I took her to the gynae department after her GP phoned them. They took her in. The next day they took out her IUD under anaesthetic. It was embedded in the side of her uterus. I am in agony thinking of what you went through. You are amazing! Flowers

@MyNameIsABCDE Ah, I am glad. Flowers What a horrible time you’ve had! Fingers crossed it won’t happen again but definitely tell your GP/Gynae what happened, esp. the fainting/vomiting. xx

Graphista · 06/03/2019 20:39

Op glad you're doing better. When are you due to see gynae?

MyNameIsABCDE · 06/03/2019 21:58

Thanks @ihateunclejamie

@graphista first gynae is 10th April. Any idea what I can expect anyone?

Really wanna get pregnant!! But I have polycystic ovaries apparently. Not sure what happens and whether it will be a long hard process to make a baby??

Hi mynameisabcde
I had similar to you, been on the pill for 12 years, came off it to TTC and my periods never returned. Went to the gp after 6 months and got referred to gynaecologist. It was 5 years ago now so a bit vague but briefly - had lots of tests and scans , were given clomid (a fertility drug) to try for 6 cycles .this was unsuccessful so then referred for ivf. Had 4 goes of ivf (2. Fresh, 2 frozen). 2 losses. We then decided to take a break from ttc.
Few months later surprised to fall pregnant naturally. All went well, I now have a 3 year old and 7 month old. I was told at one point my chances of having a natural pregnancy (without help) was 0%.

I wish you all the luck in the world. You may find the fertility drugs kickstart you into having more regular periods which is what happened to me.

@Siennabear thanks so much for messaging. That's good to hear that you've now got your babies. I've been starting to lose hope and I know it's still relatively early days.

How old are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm almost 32 and starting to worry about my age. Also is clomid a pill that you take? I have a phobia of swalling any drug bigger than a small pill Blush

Hi abcde yes clomid is a pill . Unfortunately I can’t remember the size although I don’t think they were that big!
First started TTC at 30. Had my son at 34 and my daughter at 36.
You are still young, you have plenty of time xx

Agree with Inglorious basta4d. This type of bleeding happened to me. You need to goto gp and get an urgent referral to a gynaecologist..

Bignosenobum · 08/03/2019 13:45

The Darkpassenger
You took your coil out and you had an infection. This stuff happened to me.
You should never take a coil out when you have an infrction. You could have perforated your uterus and bled to death. Also, caused another infection or sepsis.
