DO NOT FLY NORWEGIAN AIRLINES!

I flew with Norwegian Airlines a few months ago, a night from New York to London. During the day of the flight I received a text message saying my flight was delayed 4 hours from 11pm till 3am, and to ring to reschedule. I rang within minutes, and was told the only available flight would be 3am 24 hours later. Laughable. Then at the airport there we were delayed AGAIN so we didn't set off until gone 5am. I understand that delays and cancellations are common with Norwegian airlines. I followed up with them months ago but did not even receive a response from them. Yes they may be cheaper than other airlines, but you're likely to regret that choice.

They are terrible. Friends came to visit me in NYC, they sent a text at 3am cancelling their flight home. They had to pay ££££ to book another flight through a different airline and have still received no compensation 8 months later. This is not uncommon. They seem to cancel flights a lot. I’d never fly with them.
Doesn’t take much googling to see how unpopular they are as an airline.

Oh, go on to their Facebook page click on any of the comments and you’ll see how appalling they are..

I have had a good experience with Norwegian Airlines.

@Delatron Why did they not call the airline and arrange a new flight through them?

There’s an actual Facebook group called ‘Norwegian Airlines Experiences from hell’

Ha @Tomtontom why did they not think of that?!
Of course they couldn’t get through to anyone at 3am.Their customer service is appalling. They cancelled the flight via a text!

I just looked at facebook. There are 2 467 members in that group. That's not many...

I also looked at the Norwegian facebook page. I only looked a the Norwegian language facebook page, but not many complaints there. Also, I'm not sure what can actually be judged from facebook comments. People are much, much more likely to comment if they have had a bad experiences than if they have had a good one.

There has been a rumour that they are going bust. Won’t help with the thousands of compensation claims that are outstanding...

Says here they are open 24/7 and even have local numbers?

They also have a great online website where you can rebook flights, etc. I have found them very easy and accommodating. They have even refunded "non-refundable" flights for me on a couple of occasions.

I love to fly with them.

Flew with them twice. Loved it. Especially the 787s.

This sounds like the OP deliberately smearing them. I’m going to report.

Also, their in-flight WiFi is generally pretty good. It can be a bit slow if everyone is online at the same time, but I can usually send/receive email while in the air.

DD had 2 flights cancelled at the weekend returning from North Carolina.Angry
She flew BA. And was delayed over 24 hours.
Should we all boycott BA? Hmm

I had a great business class flight with Emirates recently. I’d suggesting doing that next time

I fly with them a lot but in Europe. Never had any problems with them at all. Reasonably priced - get you from A to B.

I probably wouldn't choose them long-haul though. The flights aren't all that frequent so you could end up having to wait a long time if something did happen.

Clearly it wasn’t Tomtontom Or do you think they just felt like spending a grand on another flight for no reason?
Another Facebook group ‘Norwegian Airline Experience’ makes for interesting reading.

I wouldn’t risk touching them with a barge pole. I’d never fly with them. Just wait until something goes wrong and you have to deal with their customer service.

YABU

What was the reason for the delay?

Usually it's not because the airline fancies dicking about to piss you off.

As an aside, every airline in the world has had this situation occur. Should we not fly at all?

All airlines have delays. I was delayed once because of an engine fault. For 24 hours. Mostly I was glad it had been discovered on the ground, not in the air.

I'm sure NA are no worse than most and better than some.

I agree that they wouldn't be my number one long haul option. I prefer to use Emirates or Qatar. Finnair are also good for long haul and reasonably priced.
