to ask how much annual leave you get?

I get 25 (plus bank hols) days, and tbh I don't think I could take a job with much less than that.

The statutory minimum (28 including bank hols), seems to stingy, yet a lot of jobs seem to offer this. Even when i worked in a supermarket I got more than that.

As many or as few as I like.
I am self employed though so I don't earn when I don't work.

dramaqueen · 17/02/2019 21:39

Good grief, when do you all get time to take this leave?

I find it hard to take 25 days (plus 8 BH)

Rubusfruticosus · 17/02/2019 21:40

Statutory minimum plus an extra day at Christmas. 17 days once bank holidays and the Christmas/New Year week are taken out. I'm a single parent.

OvertiredandConfused · 17/02/2019 21:41

25 days, plus 8 BH
Office closure in between Christmas and New Year (usually 3 days)
Decent Time Off In Lieu policy

Pinkblanket · 17/02/2019 21:42

25 plus bank holidays (as a full time employee). New starters start on 20 and accrue one a year to a maximum of 25. No Flexi time or toil. I do find it a tight squeeze. Lots of half days to go to school assemblies, parents evening etc.

PalmTree101 · 17/02/2019 21:42

27 plus bank holidays plus we can buy up to 10 as a straight salary sacrifice.

Mortgages · 17/02/2019 21:42

Also we do have to work some of the 8 bank holidays but get a day off in lieu for each day worked which includes (Christmas and New Year’s Eve)

We are expected to work weekends and nights but again get days off pay back for this (7 days for week of nights and 1 day for a weekend)

Spanglybangles · 17/02/2019 21:43

NHS with over 10 years service. 8.5 weeks including BH.

PositiveVibez · 17/02/2019 21:47

We get 45 including bank hols. We get a concessionary day after every bank holiday apart from the fri/Mon at Easter. I don't know why, but I am more than happy to accept it 🤣.

Disfordarkchocolate · 17/02/2019 21:53

I've just applied for a new job that's 20 days plus bank holidays. I think I'll really struggle to adjust if I get the job, it just feels a bit mean nowadays to have less than 25 plus bank holidays.

FiaMarrow · 17/02/2019 21:55

35 days + 8 BH + 4 predetermined concessionary days (Christmas shutdown).

It's generous. Also get to use flexitime and TOIL.

NerdyBird · 17/02/2019 21:58

I get 30.5 days. My work's standard for full-time is 25 days going up to 30 days after 5 years, plus bank holidays I work 4 days so it's pro-rata but they also require part-timers to take BH out of their holiday, so add on some days for this so it's not too bad.
I also don't work Mondays so most of my extra days go on the BH that don't fall on a Monday and I'm making the most of my allowance.
We get an extra day at christmas too.

I have to try and cover school holidays so all my leave definitely gets used! I did take unpaid leave one August when it worked out as less of a financial hit to get paid less than to pay for a full month at nursery!

Faster · 17/02/2019 22:00

18 + BH’s as I work 28 hours.

BerylStreep · 17/02/2019 22:01

30 days & 8 PHs.

Brownpigeon · 17/02/2019 22:03

NHS; 20 days plus BH. I only started in the summer but may have to find something else next year, as I can't cover the children's time off (single parent. Their dad thinks it's not up to him to help)

Youmadorwhat · 17/02/2019 22:05

@dramaqueen why do you struggle to take your leave???

Sparklybanana · 17/02/2019 22:05

Fuuuck? I hate working for an American company. I get 20 + bh and that’s ‘too many’.

LaLaLamp · 17/02/2019 22:06

38 including bank hols but have to take certain days at Christmas

3out · 17/02/2019 22:07

33 days annual leave plus 8 days PH pro rata / 8 weeks and 2 days (NHS) but because I’m part time and work Mondays it decreases my available annual leave days because we have to take the PH off. My boss is flexible though and allows me to work some of the PH but get paid as if I’ve taken them off, then I get a day off in lieu when it suits me better.

blackteasplease · 17/02/2019 22:07

27 (one of which is fixed) plus bank hols. I will rise up to 31 plus bank hols though in a few years

HunterHearstHelmsley · 17/02/2019 22:08

30 plus bank holidays

CallTheCat · 17/02/2019 22:14

Wow, where do you all work? My 25 days looks quite pitiful now.

OP posts:
dramaqueen · 17/02/2019 22:15

@Youmadorwhat - that is a very good question and I haven't really thought about it until now. I guess the answer is the nature of the job I do. No one covers me when I'm off and I have over 50 clients who always seem to schedule key dates at the most inconvenient times. I take my 5 weeks but I'm always moving it around to fit it in.

Buddytheelf85 · 17/02/2019 22:15

Fuuuck? I hate working for an American company. I get 20 + bh and that’s ‘too many’.

I know exactly what you mean! We’ve managed to negotiate 25 + BH for London employees but that was a fight!

Magickl · 17/02/2019 22:16

28 (after 10+ years service) no bank holidays. Plus they block off so many weeks that it's impossible to actually take your full allowance. Not allowed to be paid in lieu or carry holiday over either :-(
