to ask how much annual leave you get?

I get 25 (plus bank hols) days, and tbh I don't think I could take a job with much less than that.

The statutory minimum (28 including bank hols), seems to stingy, yet a lot of jobs seem to offer this. Even when i worked in a supermarket I got more than that.

26+BH, option to buy 5 more days but if I need more I'll just take unpaid parental.

ErickBroch · 17/02/2019 21:00

22 plus bank hols. One of the biggest third sector companies in the UK. I don't think it's enough - we have to work over Christmas as well.

Candidsugar · 17/02/2019 21:00

25 plus 8 BHs.

edwinbear · 17/02/2019 21:01

30 + BH’s + I can carry over 5 and buy a further 5 days. This year will be 39 days.

Biancadelrioisback · 17/02/2019 21:01

I've just left a job which only had 20 and it was awful!
Currently I'm on 25 plus BH but it goes up every year and I can WFM when needed if I had to take a day to for a handyman or something.

twattymctwatterson · 17/02/2019 21:01

I get 7.5 weeks in total but that includes the 8 statutory days. We don't shut bank holidays (work in banking Confused) apart from the 3 main ones so you can take the other 5 as a week together.

Biancadelrioisback · 17/02/2019 21:02

And we have the option to take a "workation" (don't hate me, I didn't name it!) Where we can book a week or so off work where they won't call you but everything has to be done so you still have to work

youngestisapsycho · 17/02/2019 21:02

How do you ‘buy’ holiday days.... are they just unpaid days?

afrikat · 17/02/2019 21:04

30 plus bank holidays (8) after 10 years service. It was 28 for the first 9 years but you could buy an extra 2.

Clevs · 17/02/2019 21:04

I'm a long term NHS employee and get 307.5 hours which is 41x7.5 hour days. But because I do 11.5 hour shifts I don't get 41 days off!

loopy42 · 17/02/2019 21:05

25 + bank hols, rising to 32 when I've been there for 5 years.
Also have the option to buy 10 extra annual leave days
And I can take 2 flexi days off a month too

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 17/02/2019 21:06

62 - lecturer.

LightAsTheBreeze · 17/02/2019 21:06

25 + 8 BH and can buy 5, pro-rata as only work 2 days,

ValleyoftheHorses · 17/02/2019 21:06

One job I am self employed but am allowed 6 weeks.
The other I get 5 weeks plus University closed days- 8 weeks altogether. I’ll be taking more than that though as have to take some unpaid this year as already have booked leave.

Jduh · 17/02/2019 21:06

33 days plus 6hrs for each bank holiday as I'm part time. I work for NHS and have over 10 years service though.

CheerioHunter · 17/02/2019 21:07

46 days + Bank Holidays.
Then the option of carrying 5 over
Plus the option of buying or selling 5 days.

JasperKarat · 17/02/2019 21:07

33 plus 8 bank holidays and a day off I can take any time in the month of the queen's birthday... So 42 all in

JasperKarat · 17/02/2019 21:08

Oh I can buy five extra if I want by never have

Squ1ggle · 17/02/2019 21:09

Currently 26 days + bank holidays + 4 set closure days at Christmas. I think it's a pretty decent amount

user1471533725 · 17/02/2019 21:10

I'm also intrigued about how the systems that allow you to 'buy' holiday work. I've seen a few jobs in my industry advertised like that but never really understood it?!

Figgygal · 17/02/2019 21:10

25+BH
can also buy 15 per year

ElfridaEtAl · 17/02/2019 21:11

5 weeks worth of hours then after so many years service I think it goes to 6 weeks worth of hours. I work in care so have to work bank holidays so if you're on on a BH you can either ask for time of in leiu or get paid double time.

Figgygal · 17/02/2019 21:11

Purchasing leave is effectively unpaid leave but deducted across year rather than at once in the month the leave is taken

Ours is also by salary sacrifice so save tax on the value

tinysnickersaremyfavourite · 17/02/2019 21:11

How do you purchase holiday weeks?
Do you actually have to pay for it?

cheminotte · 17/02/2019 21:11

25 + 1 per full calendar year up to 5 years.
Option to buy another 3 and I also take about 2 weeks unpaid. Parental leave (unpaid) is available for all of you’ve been employed for at least a year. Must be taken in full weeks though.
