To think everyone saying Shamima Begum should rot in Syria have completely overlooked the fact that she is pregnant

Just that really. She did a terrible thing going to Syria to marry an ISIS fighter. But she was only 15 and probably incredibly naive. She has already lost two children, one as a complication of malnutrition. And the child she is pregnant with has done nothing wrong. Surely we shouldn't leave him or her there to die too?

She was groomed, radicalized and trafficked. She left the safety of her family to be sold to a stranger as his bride. She is 19 and has buried two babies. One of her friends is dead. I do not think she can be allowed back into the country as she poses a risk of doing the same to other girls as she is too far down the rabbit hole. It is still an absolute tragedy though. It is a travesty that she was groomed by those evil bastards in the first place. It is devestating. Utterly horrific. More needs to be done to stop our kids being victims of these evil bastards.

teaandgingercake · 14/02/2019 19:29

The ones who sympathise with her plight, if she came back here to stay......in a few years time her child (innocent as that child is) could be in the same class as your child, would you like your child having a sleepover in her house. Just ask yourselves that in all honesty, because that is a very real scenario.

IWonderedLonelyAsACloud · 14/02/2019 19:31

She 'wasn't fazed' because she has been radicalized. She states she believes he would have done awful things to her and the other women. There is no evidence for her belief but she utterly believes it. That is what radicalisation does. Accepting and being angry that she has been groomed abd radicalized doesn't absolve her.

Buddytheelf85 · 14/02/2019 19:36

I dunno. Admittedly I didn’t run off and join a terrorist organisation, but I was a pretty shit human being when I was 15. And I wasn’t groomed.

Also she’s British so I don’t think it’s an option to stop her from coming back.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 14/02/2019 19:36

Do we actually know she is pregnant? I know she says she is, but do we actually know. Her motives for returning could be anything. She clearly isn’t wanted here. So she is possibly dangerous and also a target.

PixieHickies · 14/02/2019 19:51

She should absolutely be allowed back into the UK.

After she has served her sentence in the host country for the atrocities she helped commit.

I have absolutely no sympathy. She understood fully what she was doing and is still unapologetic.

Lilmisskittykat · 14/02/2019 19:57

She shows no remorse ... she only wants back into the country to abuse our already stressed nhs and get her future territory baby a uk passport.

She decided to join isis .., she can stay there and rot for all I care...

hastingsmua1 · 14/02/2019 20:08

We were all naive as 15 year olds and didn’t end up in her path - unfortunately naivety does not justify terrorism. Fuck her, sorry.

She plotted to murder innocent people in masses and cause destruction to this country - she had that much hate and sheer distain for Brits and the UK. Now she wants to bloody come back? Would you posters still defend her if she caused the cruel death of your loved ones? Her actions are beyond unforgivable.

I think the greater good of the majority of the public should be the focus - she’s one evil extremist (with an unborn child), their needs do not trump the majorities and frankly, are not in the public interest.

Sorry but the child would be brought up by an absolute wildcard of a mother, god knows if she still holds these extremist views so the child may be subject to these, alongside other abuse. The child is better off without her.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 14/02/2019 20:14

Why would any airline really want to fly a known terrorist?

CameliaCamelia · 14/02/2019 20:16

Has the OP even been back?

BejamNostalgia · 14/02/2019 20:21

Oh FFS love.

She actively sought these people out on social media and engaged with them for some time. She went to Syria via a well organised and planned journey which involved money laundering, passport theft and clandestine communications designed to thwart the security services stopping her.

She has stayed right until the bitter end and is one of the last few thousand ISIS members left. She has been committed to their cause and actively promoted her membership of it and assisted in any way she can. She has never tried to contact her family, she’s never tried to leave, she’s never tried to flee.

Make no mistake - the little bitch is turning tail back to the UK because ISIS has lost. Nobody in Syria wants the foreign fighters there and most of the families of the last ISIS fighters are in the same camp as her under protection because everyone else in Syria hates them and wants them dead.

Do you have any idea of the death, the torture, the carnage, the human suffering they have inflicted?

And don’t forget, these foreign fighters have gone over there, destroyed the Syrians country and now they’re done they’re high tailing it back to their comfy life in the west in the bosom of left wing virtue signallers.

You do realise millions of Syrians are living in the wreckage they created with chance of a comfy life in the west where they can pretend nothings happened don’t you?

And we’ve been here before haven’t we? After the 7/7 bombings? Jermaine Lindsay’s poor oppressed widow in her burka who said she was devastated and just wanted to live quietly with her children. Remember?

That was one the virtue signallers piled right into. As a result of that thousands have been radicalised, hundreds have been killed and her poor kids are being dragged around the world as fugitive terrorists in training.

But who gives a fuck about that when it just makes virtue signallers feel all lovely and glowing cosy about how marvellous and kind they are, eh?

GoGoGadgetGin · 14/02/2019 20:24

Not a chance should she be allowed back- if it's all about her child she should send her child to safety and stay in the so called 'utopia' she chose. I agree with pp how do we know this is not a devious plan to infiltrate the UK- no doubt if she does come back there will be the talk shows and the book where she can make money and get fame from being an evil murdering terrorist.

Justanotherlurker · 14/02/2019 20:27

Has the OP even been back?

She probably would have been if it had gone the way the OP was trying to steer the conversation, she may have name changed in thread, she may be at work.

Why is it relevant?

IWonderedLonelyAsACloud · 14/02/2019 20:36

Erm, at no point did I say she was marvellous and kind. Im head of year 11. Most of my year group gave struggled to fill in their Ucas progress without help. No way did a 15 year old kid run away to join Isis all by herself. Radicalisation is a huge problem in our country - not just from groups like Isis. Gangs groom young people, make them believe in their ideology, arm them with a knife and young lives are lost. I do not think she should be allowed back - it is too risky. I do think more should be done to prevent kids from being radicalized in the first place.

ENormaSnob · 14/02/2019 20:47

Don't give a fuck.

Leave her there.

Bobfossil2 · 14/02/2019 20:48

Totally with you iwondered
I’m head of year 10. They’re just kids. Anyone who has done prevent training will see how children are being groomed and radicalised. No 15 year old is coming up with this by themselves.
I just think this whole thing is a terrible tragedy.

Justanotherlurker · 14/02/2019 20:48

I do think more should be done to prevent kids from being radicalized in the first place.

Well Prevent was stepped up since she left, it was met with the usual cries of racism even though they are targeting right wing nationalists, it's a knife edge scenario though where some think it's targeting "wrong think" and others thinking it's outright racist.

Civil liberties, freedom of thought and accepting said consequences should apply, using edge cases to nudge political stance is the slippery slope whilst diminishing personal responsibility

CameliaCamelia · 14/02/2019 20:49

Hey justanother who said it had to be relevant eh??

HAS THE OP BEEN BACK???

nah, course not. Goady goady

mrcharlie · 14/02/2019 20:50

From what I remember she was very intelligent, yet still decided to go over and join.
I read the article on the BBC News website, apparently she saw decapitated heads in bins and wasn't fazed!! But now wants to return home to Britain because she thinks it is more secure for her unborn child...too right love!! But unfortunately you are no longer welcome!!

Enjoy your stay!!

CameliaCamelia · 14/02/2019 20:51

Thing is though, she's now in a position to groom kids herself. She's got the experience and know what works so she can groom kids if the price is right

She can probably make bombs as well

We all know benefits aren't much after all

Justanotherlurker · 14/02/2019 20:57

nah, course not. Goady goady

Ah so it's the nebulous term of being goady, we should all dismiss the thread and not talk about it, if it was about P&C parking spaces you may have a point, otherwise it comes across as though it can't be discussed, there is a reason why this article has blown up internationaly and being 'goady' isn't it

ReflectentMonatomism · 14/02/2019 20:58

So if the need to prevent grooming is so obvious, how would the British Muslim community react to the monitoring of young Muslims to watch for evidence of radicalisation? Or wound that be criticised as racist?

dietcokemegafan · 14/02/2019 20:59

If she genuinely cares about her child, then yes, she can come back. To a lengthy prison sentence and the child adopted, because let's face it, she's only going to radicalise the poor thing.

What she actually said was "I'd do anything to return to Britain to live quietly with my child". Well sorry, many of those people who were attached to the heads you saw in bins felt the same.
