To think everyone saying Shamima Begum should rot in Syria have completely overlooked the fact that she is pregnant

Just that really. She did a terrible thing going to Syria to marry an ISIS fighter. But she was only 15 and probably incredibly naive. She has already lost two children, one as a complication of malnutrition. And the child she is pregnant with has done nothing wrong. Surely we shouldn't leave him or her there to die too?

No doubt I am being incredibly thick but if we agreed to have her back couldn't one of the reporters who has spoken to her go back with a new passport and she travels back with them? I'm sure that is possibly the most stupid thing I've ever said .....,

suffragetteorsuffragist · 20/02/2019 08:52

It's a bloody tragedy if she came back"

MissEliza · 20/02/2019 08:57

What about all the babies you're not hearing about? Exactly

KingWillyWillyWeetie · 20/02/2019 08:58

Reporters just report, they don’t get involved.

MissEliza · 20/02/2019 09:02

The timing is all a bit coincidental. The reporter Jude happens to find her when she's just about to give birth. Then two days later tah dah! She's had the baby so she can give another interview with baby in tow. Lucky timing for the reporter who's trekked over to the camp and extremely fortunate for Shamima who sees a chance to use the baby to manipulate the government to let her back.

Juells · 20/02/2019 09:12

On one of the clips I saw on the news, the camera followed her as she crossed a room to get to the small room where she was interviewed. She was followed by the big black bundle of cloth that was carrying her baby, and all around the wall on benches other anonymous bundles of cloth each held a baby. It was all about sex and killing AFAICS Angry

Also, wasn't it interesting that when she was being interviewed - by a man - she had her face showing, but as she left the room she covered her face again. She wanted the sympathetic folks back home to see a young girl and be all sympathetic.

StoneofDestiny · 20/02/2019 09:23

One or her babies dies of malnutrition and another dies yet she is well fed and healthy enough to carry another baby full term (allegedly), not to mention her having enough interest and energy to have sexual relations in such a place!
Yes - her 'I cover my face' modesty farce seems so manipulative when she uncovers it in from of strange men and millions of TV viewers when it suits.
She is trying to take us for mugs.

BejamNostalgia · 20/02/2019 09:28

Honestly, I’ve been following this story quite closely. There is another Jihadi bride in Germany coming out with the same shit.

I think this is the plan, it’s a deliberate act to stir up hatred between Muslims and non-Muslims.

Of course they know they will always have useful idiots who facilitate this sort of things by buying the poor little victim card.

Juells · 20/02/2019 09:40

Whose plan? Do you think that the extremists want the rest of us to start hating on Muslims, so they band together and become more extreme? I wouldn't be surprised.

On the 60th anniversary of Auschwitz there was a lovely documentary about Jews in Germany in the twenties and thirties, with film taken in families at the time. I found it so sad that the rabbis 'encouraged' the ordinary people to dress differently, in clothes based on Polish fashions from a century before (IIRC). They were determined that Jews should hold themselves separate from the rest of the population. In theory we should be able to see past the clothes that others wear, but in practice if one group within a society single themselves out they make themselves a target, and the only ones who benefit are the extremely religious (otherwise known as controlling).

And in Canada, the only one so far offering even a hint of remorse is the American.

suffragetteorsuffragist · 20/02/2019 09:43

Can't wait to hear what Bangladesh have to say about the fact that she might be winging her way towards them.!

I bet her family and lawyer can't believe that the PC shout loud brigade haven't got their way. They were so confident, she even felt she could speak about the Manchester Bombing as being just retaliation and other assorted shite.

She's a nasty piece of work that will bring harm wherever she goes-so the best case would be for Syria to try her and dole out whatever punishment they see fit. After all, it's their country that this wicked little fucker wanted to ruin.

If the baby is hers, which I doubt, then she can hand it over to Bangladesh immediately. If she was the mother, she would but as she isn't, she won't. A baby is a great prop,

sparkling123 · 20/02/2019 09:56

I think taking away her citizenship will do more for deterring other girls going to Syria than any school out reach lessons or referrals done for those at risk. It will make them realise it is a one way trip, you can't just come home when the excitement has worn off.

suffragetteorsuffragist · 20/02/2019 10:02

Absolutely @Sparkling

It will do a lot more power of good than anything else.

I still can't get over the nerve of her family. They should be hanging their heads in shame, not talking about suing anyone.

Tells you all you need to know about them. Who are they anyway? What are their jobs?

If they're so worried, let them fuck off to the camp where they can offer her any support she needs and meet their 'grandchild' at the same time.

I imagine they have no intention of doing this and have a boat load of excuses as to why it would be impossible.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/02/2019 10:35

The family would be ‘full of shame’ if she had worn a mini skirt and hung out with boys. But steal, lie, join a death cult, marry a terrorist and justify murder and they welcome her back with open arms?

Totally agree. Cannot comprehend why the girl or her family want to be in the UK at all - it seems all that attracts them is what the NHS can offer them - amazing as the girl has contributed nothing financially towards it! (would be interested to know how much the rest of the family have contributed)

ReflectentMonatomism · 20/02/2019 11:14

The father lives in Bangladesh. The rest of the family appear to be invisible mutes. I suspect we will find that the adults speak very limited English. We might like to observe that obtaining (for example) Dutch or German citizenship requires speaking good Dutch or German, whereas you can become a British citizen and still demand interpreters to fill in benefit forms.

It would be a worthwhile exercise to immediately cease offering any support in the British welfare system for people who cannot speak English. Very few other countries offer their welfare system in anything other than the official languages, plus the edge-case of western states of the USA in which Spanish is effectively an official language (and pre-dated English's arrival).

suffragetteorsuffragist · 20/02/2019 11:35

Good idea but I don't give it very long before assorted DTs (daft twats) pile on to say that what you have just written is the equivalent of standing holding a burning cross outside their house while wearing a white hood.

Xenia · 20/02/2019 12:05

I thought her father was Ehtiopian and lived in the UK but I might be wrong. He certainly has reportedly been pictured on radical muslim protests on Engilsh streets.

BertrandRussell · 20/02/2019 12:06

“whereas you can become a British citizen and still demand interpreters to fill in benefit forms.”

A bit difficult to pass the citizenship test if you can’t speak English, I would have thought......

suffragetteorsuffragist · 20/02/2019 12:13

Not that difficult if you have a note from the GP saying you have a long term physical or mental condition! It's called a completed exemption form and having one means you don't have to prove your knowledge of English.

BertrandRussell · 20/02/2019 12:17

Is getting said certificate easy? How many have been issued? How many people have been granted Citizenship without completing the test on the strength of one?

suffragetteorsuffragist · 20/02/2019 12:19

What is this? 20 questions!

I don't know how easy it is and of course you don't know how difficult it is either.

Do you know how many have been issued?

I tell you what though. I bet it's a well worn path and anyone who thinks that it is isn't exploited must have all the wit of a wet fart!

AnnaComnena · 20/02/2019 12:19

I thought her father was Ehtiopian and lived in the UK but I might be wrong. He certainly has reportedly been pictured on radical muslim protests on Engilsh streets.

That was one of the other girls.

Four girls from B. Green in all have gone to Syria (that we know of). The first has a name very similar to this one and has repeatedly been confused with her. Another has a name nothing like this one and has also, for some reason, repeatedly been confused with her.

BertrandRussell · 20/02/2019 12:23

“What is this? 20 questions!

No- because I didn’t know it was an option. I thought you must know all about it because it was you mentioned it!

suffragetteorsuffragist · 20/02/2019 12:28

Well now you know it is an option and hopefully it will stop you making sarcastic remarks about not being able to pass the test if you can't speak English.

So there you are and you're welcome to this new bit of knowledge.
