She married a bloke who became president...so why is she so revered, because she married well? I just don't get it.

Have you read her book?
She actually worked damm hard to get herself through two very prestigious colleges despite being from a relatively poor neighbourhood and being one of very few black students.
She then gave up a well paid position as a lawyer to take community jobs and those aimed at increasing black fepresenatation in eductation etc.

Barack was Away from home for the majority of time from really early on I’m prder to pursue his career and she giggled full time work with being a mum to two.

When he was elected she used her position to do all sorts of really positive initiatives.

I think she’s pretty amazing tbh.

Yamayo · 12/02/2019 07:07

Have you googled her? She didn't just 'marry a bloke who became a president'...

Whereareyouspot · 12/02/2019 07:08

Juggled! Altho she may have giggled too

recrudescence · 12/02/2019 07:08

She was/is, very obviously, much, much more than someone’s wife.

kaytee87 · 12/02/2019 07:09

Ok so you obviously don't know anything about her then.

IHeartKingThistle · 12/02/2019 07:09

She's bloody amazing.

Unfinishedkitchen · 12/02/2019 07:10

Well then why don’t you find out? Read her book, even her Wikipedia page. It’s not hard to find out why people admire her.

I despair at how proud some people are of their ignorance.

Pk37 · 12/02/2019 07:11

YABVU .
If you don’t get the big deal, maybe read abit about her before starting a thread. She’s not just a “wife” of an ex president she is an amazing person in her own right

BatsAreCool · 12/02/2019 07:11

Wow, so all you think she has done is marry a man who became president.

Bangs head on wall and leaves thread.

ChasedByBees · 12/02/2019 07:12

She is hugely accomplished in her own right, and acts with grace and kindness towards others. She is an amazing person.

Why do you feel she’s not?

Ghanagirl · 12/02/2019 07:12

@wellhellothereall
Here we go again🙄

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 12/02/2019 07:12

If you think just because she married a president is all that equates to her, then you are massively UR, educate yourself!

TheQueef · 12/02/2019 07:12

Even black women cannot win.

She isn't Barack wife, so much more than that.

Cheeeeislifenow · 12/02/2019 07:13

Yabu. Why don't you read about her. I think she is an incredible lady.
She is such a positive role model for women everywhere.

wellhellothereall · 12/02/2019 07:14

All great ..but she wouldn't be writing a book if her husband hadn't become president

OP posts:
GreatDuckCookery6211 · 12/02/2019 07:15

You obviously know nothing about her then, which makes your thread absolute bollocks and goady to boot.

TokyoSushi · 12/02/2019 07:16

She's absolutely amazing, I'm a little bit in love with her!

strawberrypenguin · 12/02/2019 07:17

Because she's amazing. She's intelligent and compassionate. She took on a full role during her time in the White House with her own groups and causes. She didn't just 'marry a man who became president' You think she had nothing to do with that?

FilthyforFirth · 12/02/2019 07:18

Will you feel the same if Melainia writes a book? Thought not.

wellhellothereall · 12/02/2019 07:20

Umm yes Filth I would it Barbara bush or Sam Cam what a strange question

OP posts:
wellhellothereall · 12/02/2019 07:23

I'm not saying she hasn't had an interesting life but what has she done that deserves standing ovations?

Well she might have written a book anyway. What is remarkable about her is that she used her position to highlight issues and inspire people. Not hiding away like Melania!!

TheQueef · 12/02/2019 07:23

In England the last equivalent was Glynis Kinnock.
We haven't experienced it.
