She married a bloke who became president...so why is she so revered, because she married well? I just don't get it.

Okay. Of all the spurious celebrities writing books etc let's question Michelle Obama Hmm

PengAly · 13/02/2019 14:41

Oh the OP definitely appears colour-blind. It must be so great to have white privilege.

DonaldTwain · 13/02/2019 17:12

I definitely think the knee jerk assumption that some have made that the op is jealous is evidence of sexism I’m afraid.
I don’t agree with her, but to question what someone has done to deserve adulation is not necessarily evidence of jealousy. And it’s not illegitimate to raise these questions. But there are many others whose standing in society I would question before Mrs Obama’s.

wellhellothereall · 13/02/2019 18:53

and she's white.

I think the OP is one of those irksome 'colourblind' people, which as far as I can tell just simply means they're going to ignore racism

Eh? So we shouldn't admire white people because they are white? Hmm

I also said I admired Serena Williams - is that allowed? Ffs

No, i believe the PP believes that you couldn't possibly understand the struggles black women face because you have reduced her down to just being "some blokes wife". Im guessing you are white so have not had to face the obstacles women of colour face on a regular basis which is why after this many pages you still cant comprehend why michelle obama is a big deal.

wellhellothereall · 13/02/2019 19:02

I would have the same opinion regardless of her colour. Incidentally you have no idea if I am black or white there has been no mention of race in my posts and I find your position quite offensive

I've gotta pretty good guess Wink

I find your position quite offensive
Right back at you

wellhellothereall · 13/02/2019 19:30

What exactly have I said that is in any way offensive or indeed personally attacking anyone on here ? Do you know what - don't bother. I know your game and I'm not going to rise to it

Thus proves you honestly dont understand her struggles. That's the point im trying to make- the fact that you wouldnt change you stance if she was white just shows you dont understand how difficult it was for her to be successful.

PengAly · 13/02/2019 19:36

wellhellothereall its just your whole attitude. The way you speak of Michelle Obama is what annoys me. She represents real issue that so many people are faced with and your lack of understanding or even refusal to accept her achievements as great just shows whats wrong with the world today.

wellhellothereall · 13/02/2019 19:49

Peng - due to your posts I have literally no interest in your opinion.keep harping on I will not be reading your posts
